Channel 5 Transmission Discussion/Updates

Obviously we posted this earlier, but the news had already been mentioned in here anyway so I didn't see the need to post the link 😛

What should be noted though is that both soaps are in the usual timeslots - Radio Times are reporting that H&A's afternoon airing will be showing at 12:45, but C5 has confirmed to us that it's wrong.

Some folk over on digital spy seem to think that the 6pm showing of Home and Away will be canned... Is this also incorrect do you know?

My main disappointment is that for the first time since 2008 we're slipping out of the intended blocks. Part of me would rather they'd shown the episodes as intended as far as possible and then taken a break completely, but I can see the sense in wanting to keep the show on air and in people's minds for as long as possible.

They’ve cut the 6pm then. I get there’s still the first look, but I don’t know why they didn’t just move Home and Away into Neighbours‘ slots of Tuesday & Thursday or something.

I don't understand cutting 6pm full stop. I understand that the ratings for the news at 6 on the other channels has exploded so understand the audience share has probably been squeezed on the 6pm repeat showing, however they're just shoving a repeat of Yorkshire vet on... Which is likely to be even lower rating wise ... Why not just play out Home and Away as normal

I'd rather they dusted off some Classics but the ones people WANT to see and HAVEN'T seen 20x before.

My main worry if "I hope they bring it back." To be fair to them, Channel 5 did seem to be plugging the show quite a bit recently: I don't know if ratings for the big "event" episodes weren't as much as they'd hoped. Possibly the thinking is that with most people off work/school, they'll be more likely to watch the 1.15pm showing and the 6pm audience will migrate over there. I hope that's the thinking anyway...

That's a good point. And is the only rational explanation.

I have however migrated to 5star for the time being. Its just jammed with ads and not HD but means I can squeeze an extra episode out of it before the 2 per week thing. Enjoy folks!

Don't get the move to lunchtime only - the first time ever in the UK I think, save for the odd one-off - bank holidays, football etc.

I suppose catchup means people will seek it out that way.

Also - I note Neighbours is still getting its evening showing, why them and not Home and Away?

Would make more sense to run one show Monday & Wednesday and another Tuesday & Thursday.
