Episode 11

The next day (Thursday), Tracey sits next to Sabrina Wren in French class.

Tracey: Hi Sabrina.

Sabrina: Hello. I'm so glad you're sitting next to me.

Tracey: Well I want to get to know you better.

Sabrina: That's awesome!

Tracey: So tell me about yourself.

Sabrina: What's to tell. I smoke that good stuff.

Tracey: Okay.

Sabrina: You smoke?

Tracey: Yeah I smoke cigarettes.

Sabrina: Good. Stay away from drugs. They're bad for you.

Tracey: But you smoke marijuana don't you?

Sabrina: Yes. But I don't want you following the same path as me and Janae.

Tracey: I see.

Sabrina: Are we in any classes together?

Tracey: English I think.

Sabrina: Thanks for joining me today. I really appreciate it.

Tracey: No worries.

Sabrina: So what happened after the disco?

Tracey: Jacob took me home. Why do you ask?

Sabrina: Just wondering.

Tracey: Okay.

Sabrina: The three of us should have a sleepover sometime.

Tracey: The three of us?

Sabrina: Me, you and Janae.

Tracey: Oh! I'm sure Gloria would like that.

Sabrina: Who cares what the Nerdy-Bird thinks? She won't be a part of it.

*Tracey lets out a weak smile*

In the nearby suburb of Bellambi, Cam is in her flat waiting for her cousin Brooke Edwards to arrive.

*The door knocks*

Cam: Coming. *opens the door to find a wheelchair-bound girl standing there* Brooke!

Brooke: How are ya?

Cam: I'm well. *gives Brooke a huge hug* But how did you get up here so quickly?

Brooke: The taxi driver helped me up. Nice bloke.

Cam: Did you pay him?

Brooke: Of course I did. *smiles*

Cam: That's good. Would you like something to eat?

Brooke: If you don't mind I'd like some pizza.

Cam: Pizza? I don't think I have any frozen pizza on me.

Brooke: I meant from Pizza Hut.

Cam: Oh. Then I'll order some pizza then. *smiles*

Brooke: A cheeselovers pizza sounds great.

Cam: That's what I'm getting too! I have to tell you though, my P.T is going to kill me when he finds out how much calories I've been eating.

Brooke: You had pizza last night didn't you?

Cam: Yes.

Brooke: But you're a cheerleader.

Cam: I have to watch what I eat still. When I was in Year 7, I could not go to any class without being teased. I had paper balls thrown at me, the boys used to make horse sounds at me and I even had one girl tell me that I should bury myself into a grave cause no one liked me.

*Brooke suddenly starts to cry*

Cam: Oh Brooke. I didn't mean to upset you.

Brooke: That was really sad. I was bullied as well. *wipes away her tears*

Cam: I know. I just hope your confidence gets a much needed boost during your stay.

Brooke: Hope so. *smiles*

*they hug*

Later that afternoon, Tracey has Ancient History. The class starts off smoothly until Gloria makes a snide comment to Jacob.

Gloria: Still after my foster sister?

Jacob: Gloria! Drop it!

Gloria: No I won't! I have strong feelings for you, yet you'd rather take Tracey to the disco than me! WHAT A JOKE!!!

Tracey: Gloria...

Gloria: I WASN'T TALKING TO YOU SO JUST SHUT UP BITCH!!!

Jacob: GLORIA!!! I DON'T LOVE YOU! I ONLY LIKE YOU AS A FRIEND THAT'S ALL!!!

Gloria: YOU JUST LOVE TRACEY!!!

Tracey: Stop it!

Gloria: NO I F****** WON'T!!! *to Jacob* AND IF YOU WERE MY FRIEND, YOU WOULD BE CONSIDERATE TO MY FEELINGS!!!
Jacob: You know what? I'm done! *throws the table down in temper and storms out of the room with Peter following him*

Gloria: LIKE THAT ACHIEVED ANYTHING?!? OH MY GOD!

*Tracey is now in tears which leaves Janae fuming*

Janae: *to Tracey* Go take a few minutes bestie.

*Tracey leaves the room crying*

Janae: HAPPY NOW YOU F****N' DOG?!?

Gloria: DON'T START ON ME YOU JUNKIE MUTT!

Janae: TOO BAD GLORIA! I'M JUST GETTING STARTED! HOW DARE YOU TREAT YOUR OWN FOSTER SISTER LIKE THAT!!! TRACEY HAPPENS TO BE MY BEST FRIEND IF YOU DON'T MIND!!!
*Gloria rolls her eyes*

Janae: THAT'S RIGHT! ROLL YOUR EYES! I'M NOT GOING TO ALLOW A BITCHY MOLE LIKE YOU PICKING ON MY FRIENDS!!!

Gloria: AT LEAST I'M NOT A JUNKIE!

Janae: THAT THE BEST YOU CAN COME UP WITH?
Mr Parker: GIRLS!!!

Gloria: IS LIFE GETTING TOO HARD FOR YOU JANAE?!? MAYBE THAT'S WHY YOUR DAD LEFT YOU AND YOUR MUM. BECAUSE YOU'RE BOTH WORTHLESS!!!

*Janae pushes Gloria over and starts punching her in the face. Mr Parker breaks up the fight*

Mr Parker: THAT DOES IT!!! BOTH OF YOU REPORT TO MRS FEENEY AT ONCE!!!

*Gloria holds her jaw in pain*

When Janae gets home from school, Sarah is standing near the kitchen with a scowl on her face.

Sarah: SUSPENDED AGAIN JANAE ROSE?!?

Janae: THAT DIRTY BITCH ASKED FOR IT!

Sarah: IS THIS HOW YOU SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS?!? BY LASHING OUT AT PEOPLE?!?

Janae: SHUT THE F*** UP!!!!! *throws pots and pans all over the kitchen*

Sarah: Janae! Calm down!

Janae: NO!!!!

*Sarah grabs Janae who is now in tears*

Sarah: *camly* What happened?

Janae: *sobbing* She said that you and I are worthless without Dad. Is that why he moved to Nowra?

Sarah: GLORIA SAID THAT DID SHE?!?

*Janae nods her head as she cries*

Sarah: Do you think you'll be okay on your own while I go straight to Cheryl's house?

Janae: I'll be fine. *sniffing*

Speaking of Cheryl, she's having a go at Gloria over her behaviour at school.

Cheryl: I'm VERY disappointed in you Gloria! How could you get suspended?

Gloria: SHE started it!

Cheryl: Now just a minute young lady! Janae didn't start the fight. YOU did!

Gloria: How did I?

Cheryl: You basically read the riot act out to both Jacob and Tracey. That is your foster sister!

Gloria: She's not my REAL sister!

Cheryl: If I hear one more smart**** comment from your mouth Gloria, you are grounded for a month! Now get upstairs!

*Gloria storms upstairs and slams her bedroom door shut just as someone knocks on the front door*

Cheryl: It's open!

*Sarah enters the house*

Cheryl: Hi Sarah. What brings you here?

Sarah: I'd like to talk to you about Gloria.

Cheryl: If it's about her fight with Janae, I already told her off.

Sarah: Do you know WHY Janae punched your daughter in the face?

Cheryl: No. Why?

*Sarah tells Cheryl what Gloria said to Janae*

Cheryl: WHAT?!? I'm really sorry about this. I'm going to talk to Gloria about this. Thanks for letting me know Sarah.

Sarah: No worries Cheryl. *leaves*

Cheryl: GLORIA!!!!!!

*Gloria comes downstairs*

Gloria: WHAT NOW?!?

Cheryl: BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU SAID TO JANAE, YOU ARE GROUNDED FOR A MONTH!!!

Gloria: NO!

Cheryl: YES!

*Gloria storms back upstairs*

At Port Kembla Beach, Tracey is walking along the sand with tears streaming down her face.

Tracey: *thinking to herself* Why is this so hard? I came here for a fresh start. For a chance to make some real friends, but I guess it's all in my head.

*Tracey wipes away her tears before riding her bike to Jacob's place. She knocks on the door*

Tracey: *to herself* Please be there Jacob.

*Jacob opens the door*

Jacob: Hey sis. What's wrong?

Tracey: I need to talk to you.

Jacob: What about best friend? *looks concerned*

Tracey: This is very hard for me to say this, but I think we should go our seperate ways. *starts to choke up*

Jacob: Don't say that!

Tracey: Jacob. It's obvious that Gloria isn't happy that we're friends. Best friends for that matter.

Jacob: Who cares what Gloria thinks? You're one of my best friends and that shouldn't change.

Tracey: It's just that....

Jacob: What?

Tracey: I don't want to upset Gloria. After all, she is my foster sister.

Jacob: That's what I like about you Tracey. You are so honest, caring, friendly and humble.

Tracey: If you knew me before I came to the Illawarra, you wouldn't like me.

Jacob: Because of your past history?

*Tracey nods*

Jacob: That doesn't matter. Why should Gloria come in between our friendship?

*Tracey starts to cry again*

Tracey: I don't know Jacob. I really don't.

Jacob: Are you sure you want us to go our separate ways?

Tracey: I'm sorry Jacob. I'm so sorry. *runs out crying*

Jacob: *calling out* Tracey! *sits back down on the sofa and puts his hands on his face*

(Once outside, Tracey sits on the brick ledge and sobs uncontrollably)

Episode 13

The next day (Friday), Tracey slowly drags herself to French class. She knew today was going to be hard with Janae and Gloria both suspended for their fight in Ancient History the day before and Jacob avoiding her. She hoped Sabrina was in so she could talk to her.

*Sabrina is already sitting at the desk when Tracey depressingly sits next to her*

Sabrina: How are you?

Tracey: Let's see. I've got one best friend that's suspended until next Wednesday and another that has his heart broken. So to sum it all up, I feel rotten.

*Sabrina puts her arm around Tracey*

Sabrina: At least you've still made it to school. That Nerdy-Bird is lucky I haven't demolished her! Bitch!

Tracey: Is Gloria always this mean?

Sabrina: You should've seen her at the Year 7 camp. She bitched and bitched about the living conditions at the Gold Creek Tourist Resort in Canberra!

Tracey: Really?

Sabrina: AND! Her and Lisa Patrick drank cruisers the whole night and the next morning Miss Kirby wanted to know why her and Lisa were so sick!

Tracey: Did you do anything?

Sabrina: Janae, myself and another friend of ours smoked that good stuff and Mr O'Brien almost caught us!

Tracey: Who was the other friend?

Sabrina: Her name was Amanda Wilson. She moved to Darwin halfway through Year 9.

Tracey: You still talk to her?

Sabrina: Yeah I do. Janae doesn't though. Thinks Amanda is a dog.

Tracey: Why?

Sabrina: Amanda told everyone that Janae brought in a gun into the school grounds. They almost EXPELLED Janae! But when Janae found out that Amanda lied, she went at her like a rabid dog! Suffice to say, Amanda had to go to hospital.

Tracey: Never knew Janae was THAT violent!

Sabrina: Believe me Tracey. She can be really nasty when she wants to be!

Tracey: Have you got into any fights?

Sabrina: At school you mean?

Tracey: Yes.

Sabrina: No. But I did have a go at this Aboriginal lady on the bus a few weeks ago. She wanted to smash me!

Tracey: And did she?

Sabrina: The bus driver kicked her off! *laughs*

*Tracey laughs*

Sabrina: Glad to see you laughing now.

Tracey: Still hasn't cheered me up fully.

Sabrina: You'll be fine girl. And if Gloria gives you any more problems, I'll sort her out.

Tracey: Thanks.

Meanwhile, Cam decides to take Brooke to Westfield Figtree for a day out.

Brooke: You normally shop here?

Cam: Sometimes. I even go shopping at the Warrawong Westfield and Shellharbour Square.

Brooke: That's awesome!

Cam: Wanna have lunch?

Brooke: Sure.

*They go into Gloria Jean's Coffee*

Brooke: Gloria Jeans! I love their black coffee.

Cam: I love this place too.

*However, just as Brooke is seated at a table one of the waitresses starts making comments*

Waitress (Megan): You might want to be careful girlie! You don't want to hurt anyone with your wheelchair!

Cam: Is there a problem?

Waitress: You can't bring that wheelchair in this area.

Cam: SAYS WHO?!?

Waitress: Store policy.

Cam: Store policy my backside! You are discriminating against my cousin who happens to have spina bifida!

Waitress: Oh well.

*Brooke is now in tears due to her anxiety getting the better of her*

Brooke: Can we go home now please?

Cam: I tell you what Brooke? Wait outside for me.

*Brooke goes outside*

Cam: HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY COUSIN LIKE THAT!!!

Waitress: Would you MIND not raising your voice young woman?!?

Cam: Listen here...*reads the waitresses name tag* Megan. If you are going to discriminate someone with a disability, you are as low as a drug addict.

Megan: EXCUSE me?!?

Cam: I'll be taking you to Fair Work. Expect court papers in the mail darling. Ciao! *walks out of the restaurant*

*Megan is more or less fuming*

Cam: Come on Brooke. Let's go home.

Brooke: *sobbing* I ruined the whole day for us.

Cam: No cuz. That HALF-BRAINED waitress did!

When school is finished that afternoon, Jacob decides to visit Tracey. Unfortunately, Tracey is at Janae's house so Gloria answers the door. He's FAR from impressed to see her.

Jacob: Is Tracey home?

Gloria: Why? So the two of you can hug and make up?

Jacob: I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR SARCASTIC BEHAVIOUR GLORIA!!! I'M HERE TO SEE TRACEY NOT YOU!

Gloria: She's at Janae's place!

Jacob: Thank you! *goes to leave but stops* Actually, I've got something I want to say to you Gloria. I do NOT have feelings for you. We are friends, I mean WERE friends until you started acting like a complete brat because things didn't go your way. Guess what girl? Not everything is about you! So stop being so selfish and butt out of my friendships!

*Gloria slams the door shut as Jacob walks away*

Gloria: *to herself* Not everything is about me aye? We'll see about that!

The next day (Saturday), Gloria is at her friend Robyn Masters' house in Mangerton.

Gloria: How are you?

Robyn: I'm great. Thanks for coming over.

Gloria: No worries beautiful girl. What do you want to do today?

Robyn: We could go for a feed.

Gloria: At 10:30 in the morning?

Robyn: No. At around quarter past eleven.

Gloria: Where do you want to go?

Robyn: Maccas.

Gloria: Then it's settled. We'll go to Maccas. Just hope we don't run into bitchy weed smoker Janae!

Robyn: Why do you let Janae bother you? She's really not worth your time.

Gloria: She's a user! That's what she is!

Robyn: Okay.

Gloria: The junkie's probably hanging out with MY foster sister.
Robyn: *thinking to herself* Here's a suggestion Gloria. Build a bridge and get the f*** over it!

Meanwhile, Cam has decided to take Brooke along to see her friends. They're going to have lunch at the Unanderra KFC.

Brooke: Are your friends nice?

Cam: The best.

Brooke: That's awesome!

Cam: Do you want me to carry you downstairs or gently push you down?

Brooke: It's up to you Cam.

*Cam decides to push Brooke gently down the stairs before heading to the car (A blue Ford Laser)*

Cam: Do you want to sit up the front or back?

Brooke: I might sit up the back. Abby might need the front seat.

Cam: I'm not picking Abby up. She's driving.

Brooke: Okay.

*Cam helps Brooke into the car before getting in and driving to KFC*

Cam: I'm hoping this cheers you up cuz.

Brooke: Me too.

*They arrive at KFC a few minutes later. Cam gets out Brooke's wheelchair and helps her get in it before going inside*

Cam: I wonder where they could be?

Abby: Cam!

*Cam turns around and sees Abby, Tracey, Janae, Sabrina, Peter, Jacob and Lilly sitting at the booth*

Cam: Hey! *goes over to Abby and gives her a hug and kiss on the cheek*

Janae: Who's the sweet thing next to you?

Cam: Everyone. This is my cousin Brooke Edwards.

Brooke: How are ya?

Cam: *pointing at the person when introducing them* This is Abby, Tracey, Janae, Serena, Peter, Jacob and Lilly.

Sabrina: Sabrina.

Cam: Oh sorry. Sabrina.

Sabrina: We're all blessed to meet you.

Tracey: So where are you from Brooke?

Brooke: I come from a place called Mittagong.

Lilly: Oh yeah. That's near Bowral isn't it?

Brooke: Quite right.

Jacob: Where is she going to sit Cam?

Cam: She's going to sit next to me.

Jacob: Awesome. *gives Tracey a look that says "How-could-you-do-this-to-me?"*

Peter: Hey man. You okay?

Jacob: Fine brother. Just thinking that's all.

Abby: Have I missed something?

Janae: I'll tell you later.

Abby: Okay.

Tracey: So Jacob? Are you doing anything tomorrow?

Jacob: Why do you care? You're the one that ended our friendship, not me.

Sabrina: Jacob! That's not nice.

Jacob: Don't get involved Sabrina. It's between me and Tracey.

Sabrina: Right.

Tracey: I really don't want to have this conversation in front of our friends.

Jacob: Let's go outside then.

*Tracey and Jacob walk outside*

Cam: Did I tell you about yesterday?

Janae: About the waitress giving Brooke a hard time because she was in the wheelchair?

Cam: Yeah. How did you know?

Janae: Your best friend who also happens to be my cousin told me.

Cam: She's lucky I didn't pour hot coffee on her!

Brooke: What's going on with Tracey and Jacob?

Peter: A student at our school has been trying to get in between them. Tracey got so fed up that she decided to end her friendship with Jacob to get the bitch off her back.

Janae: I hope I don't run into the rat today!

Brooke: Gosh! Is she that nasty?

Janae: She's trash Brooke. I wouldn't be friends with her.

*Jacob storms inside*

Jacob: Sorry guys. But I'm heading off.

Abby: Already?

Jacob: I'm just....I'm leaving.

Janae: You guys need to sort this out.

Jacob: Thanks for your concern sis, but the damage has been done.

Peter: How are Lilly and I getting home then?

Cam: I'll drive them home.

Jacob: Thanks Cam. I appreciate it. *to Janae* Go talk to Tracey.

*Janae gives Jacob a hug before walking outside*

Brooke: It was nice meeting you.

Jacob: It was nice to meet you as well. *hugs Brooke*

Cam: Hope it works out bro.

Jacob: Thanks sis. See you later. *gives Cam, Abby, Sabrina and Lilly a hug and shakes Peter's hand*

Peter: Bye man.

Outside, Janae is comforting Tracey who is in tears.

Janae: I'm sorry it didn't work out bestie.

Tracey: Oh it's not your fault Janae. It's mine. I shouldn't have ended the friendship.

Janae: Don't blame yourself. Blame that selfish bitch! She caused this to happen!

Tracey: I know. *wipes away her tears*

*Cam and the others come outside*

Lilly: You okay Trace?
Tracey: I'll be fine.

Cam: We're going to head off now.

Tracey: Okay. Can I give this beautiful cousin of yours a hug?
Brooke: You sure can girlfriend. *hugs Tracey*

Cam: How are you getting home?

Abby: I'm taking Tracey, Janae and Sabrina home.

Sabrina: Thanks for the catch up. We should do it again sometime.

Cam: No worries.

*The group exchange hugs before getting into their respective cars and driving off*

When Sabrina gets home, she finds her mother slamming the stove in temper.

Anne: Bloody stove!

Sabrina: I'm back Mum.

Anne: Hi darling. How was your outing?

Sabrina: It was good. I see the stove has stopped working.

Anne: Second time this month! I have to call the contractor and tell him to get me a new stove!

Sabrina: Oh and could you tell him to fix the toilet too?

Anne: That's what plumbers are for darling.

*Both Sabrina and Anne laugh*

Sabrina: Well, I better head to my room. I might give Leah a ring.

Anne: It's nice that you two get on so well.

Sabrina: She's my older sister. Of course I get along with her.

Anne: I just wish she didn't go to uni so far away.

Sabrina: Bega's not that far Mum.

Anne: I know. It's just that she's my big girl.

Sabrina: And what am I?

Anne: My baby.

Sabrina: *blushes* Mum. If you said that in front of my friends, I'd have to kill you. *smiles*

Anne: Love ya.

Sabrina: Love ya too. *goes into her room to ring Leah*

Voicemail: Hi this is Leah. Sorry I can't take your call at the moment, but if you leave a message and your phone number I'll get back to you. Laters.

Sabrina: Hi Leah. I just wanted to see how you are. Talk to you soon. Bye. *hangs up the phone*

*Sabrina looks at a photo of her and Leah when they were children before holding it to her chest*

The next day (Sunday), Sabrina decides to hang out with Brooke. But first, she must call Cam and ask for permission.

Cam: Hello?

Sabrina: Camryn! It's Sabrina here. Are you doing anything today?

Cam: I'm going to Fitness First. Why do you ask?

Sabrina: I was just wondering if Brooke would be allowed to hang out with me?

Cam: Of course she's allowed! But I must tell you not to smoke weed in front her OR give it to her.

Sabrina: Why would I do something like that?

Cam: I'm just telling you sis. So where do and Brooke want to meet up?

Sabrina: At the Warrawong Westfield. Tell her to come at 11.

Cam: Will do. Thanks for that Sabrina. I do appreciate it.

Sabrina: Bye. *hangs up the phone*

At Janae's house, her Sunday is anything BUT peaceful! Her mother has discovered pills in the clothes drawer and going off her head.

Sarah: JANAE ROSE TAYLOR!!!!!!!!

Janae: WHAT?!?
Sarah: COME INTO YOUR BEDROOM RIGHT NOW!!!

*Janae goes into her room and sees that Sarah is holding a packet of pills*

Sarah: WHAT WERE THESE DOING IN YOUR CLOTHES DRAWER?!?

Janae: BEEN THROUGH MY THINGS AGAIN HAVE WE MOTHER?!?

Sarah: DON'T BE SARCASTIC JANAE ROSE!!!! DRUGS WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE!!!!

*Janae snatches the pills off Sarah*

Janae: I HAVEN'T BEEN TAKING DRUGS!!!!

Sarah: DON'T LIE TO ME! I'VE SEEN YOU SMOKE MARIJUANA!

*Janae storms off*

Sarah: WHERE ARE YOU GOING JANAE?!?

Janae: OUT!!! *slams the front door shut*

*Sarah sighs*

At Westfield Warrawong, Sabrina is in the food court waiting for Brooke to arrive.

*Brooke wheels over to Sabrina*

Sabrina: Hey Brooke!

Brooke: How are ya?

Sabrina: I'm great. How about yourself?

*they hug*

Brooke: Not bad girl.

Sabrina: What would you like for lunch?

Brooke: Maccas please. What are you having?

Sabrina: I'm having Ali Baba.

Brooke: Awesome!

*As the two girls have their lunch, a girl around the same age as Sabrina starts to make nasty comments about Brooke*

Girl: What an EYESORE!

*Sabrina glares at the girl*

Girl: GOT A STARING PROBLEM BITCH?!?

Sabrina: *in a sarcastic tone* No.

Girl: Tell this person to move their wheelchair. It's blocking the way!

Sabrina: Come on Brooke. Let's go.

Brooke: I reckon.
*As Sabrina pushes Brooke's wheelchair, she deliberately runs over the girl's foot!*

Girl: OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT WAS MY FOOT!!!

Sabrina: Oops! I'm sorry. Next time be more careful. *laughs*
