Australian actor Chris Hemsworth returned home for the red carpet world premiere of his new action fantasy movie Thor. Hemsworth was joined at Event Cinemas in George St by the film's director Kenneth Branagh and co-stars Tom Hiddleston and Jaimie Alexander. The Australian said it was "fantastic" to be home for a few days to promote the film, about a powerful warrior who reignites an ancient war because of his reckless actions. "It was rather big shoes to fill, a daunting thing to walk into, but I had the support of Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman and Kenneth Branagh," Hemsworth said. "Playing any sort of character with that kind of support is certainly a benefit." Director Branagh praised the Aussie for his role as the title character. "He has got the ease and grace of a natural movie star," Branagh said. Thor opens in cinemas in 3D on Thursday. Chris Hemsworth, Esther Anderson, Ray Meagher and Damian de Montemas attended the world premiere in Sydney.
