2011 Logie Nominations

Charles Cottier (Dex) and Home & Away both scored Logie noms for this years Logies.

Wow, compared to the number of nominations Home and Away had last year, that's a pretty dismal performance. Maybe that's a reflection on how bad last years storylines actually were. Not even Home and Aways regularly nominated cast members got a look in.

Am I the only person on the planet who doesn't understand why Packed to the Rafters is so great. I've many a time, mostly out of curiosity and have found nothing fantastic about it. Yet it seems to go down a stormer in Oz.

Yes I think you may be the only one that thinks that of Rafters! I love that show. However, they have a lot of noms this year, unsure whether its all deserving.

I don't know why h&a has so little this year but I'm really happy that Dex has one! I really wanted Lisa Gormley up there too. Am confused as to why Chrissy Swan is voted for Gold Logie? also that karl shouldn't be nominated for gold either.

But I am happy for the Offspring cast!

I can't really say to much about the nominations since the only shows that we get here on Ireland on the main channels are Home and Away, Neighbours and Rafters and they've recently started showing some episodes of Underbelly. So I can't really say who deserves a nomination or who doesn't.

But I have a serious vendetta against award shows such as this that allow the public to pick the nominees, because it does turn into a popularity contest rather than a show that hands out awards to deserving people for either fantastic acting, or creating a well crafted show.

I think they should be done like the Oscars, where a society of people who know what they're talking about or know what to look for, nominate the people and shows rather than putting it in the hands of people who may only vote because they think somebody is really good looking or something shallow like that.

I don't mean to take away from the nominees I'm just saying I don't reeally trust award shows like this to pick the right people or shows.

I was shocked when I first saw the nominations. I think this is probably the first time in the history of the show that noone has been nominated for either Most Popular Actor or Actress, but then again last year was absolutely terrible so it's just a reflection of this.

Yeah its the first time that i remember that no one has been nominated in those categories!

Great for Charles/Dex I didn't think last year's storylines were that terrible, except the boring one about Penn, a character I didn't care about who was murdered by Will, another character I didn't care about

I'm trying to decide whether the Penn storyline was worse then the year long hugo storyline the year before! Thank god we have none of that this year (excpet for maybe the long drag out of nicole's pregnancy/whose keeping the baby storyline),

Oh, I enjoyed the Hugo storyline. I thought it was good to have a bit of a mystery and a long running storyline. I liked Hugo/ Bernard though, he was anohter of my beloved ex Out of the Blue actors

Whereas I thought the Penn story was uninvolving as I disliked and didn't sympathise with him, and thought it was daft bringing Will back just to make him kill Penn.

Just my opinion.

Yes I agree with u about Will. I did like Hugo/Bernard just not how the story went on for the whole year thats all.

But anyways, back on topic! With these noms, I hope home & away gets it but it has a very stiff competition wth Rafters plus Offspring. (I don't watch Rush or Underbelly and Neighbours is just a bit ridiculous now!).
