Morag or Diana

Oh yeah about the drink spiking, she didn't do that knowingly. Hayley and Sam had put alcohol in the punch. James asked Diana to offer Irene a 'olive branch' and suggested getting her a glass of punch to give her as an excuse to go over and talk to her. Irene thought she did it purposely and went crazy at her screaming with a knife in her hand 'YOU SET ME UP' and threw a drink in her face. They had a good scrap in the beach house about it the next day after charges were dropped and Irene found out about Hayley.

I remember that. Diana tried to get Irene arrested because she had a knife in her hand, but Irene had no intention of using it. She just happened to be holding a knife at the time. I can't remember if Diana genuinely thought Irene was going to hurt her or whether she did it to try and frame her.

She was a good villain. I did enjoy watching her.

"I was chopping lemons!"

Hahaha Yes!! I remember Diana screaming 'She has attacked me, she has threatened me with a weapon!! I want her CHARGED!' - Freeze frame on Irene's jaw drop! She was only chopping lemons for the fruit punch though!

The next day they had one of the best Irene/Diana moments ever. A huge screaming match, name calling, the works... resulting in Diana storming out of the beach house, door slamming behind her.

I'd like to watch Diana's return in 2005 again, I haven't seen it since it originally aired. I can't really remember much of it.

Edit:

I just watched 4013 on Youtube. I do actually feel sorry for her even though she is very bitchy and quite the snob. I used to feel sorry for her at times in the 90's too. I do think there is definitely an element of her wanting to win over Irene especially - but I think she genuinely loved Olivia, but she just didn't know how to, or she didn't feel comfortable expressing love and used her aggressive nature to get her sons to do what she wanted them to do. Remember, wasn't her husband gay? And she just turned a blind eye to it? I'm sure that was hinted at when we first got to meet Lachie's family. I also remember some really good character driven scenes between Lachie and Diana in 1997 - just them talking about how they feel towards each other as mother and son.

I remember after Lachie had died and she was just hanging around James and Chloe, constantly trying to be near Olivia. I always wondered if she really wanted to spend time with her granddaughter or if she really did simply just want to get in between Chloe and James. I think the scene I've discussed on the board before will always stand out to me...

When she became obsessed and waits outside the beach house until Chloe gives in and they have a real heart to heart on the beach - Chloe seems a bit shocked when Diana starts sobbing over Lachie. I remember her lines 'Your children aren't supposed to die before you do... Not Fair!'. It was definitely a heart felt scene, she wasn't pretending. Chloe starts allowing her to see Olivia on a regular basis. I think this was when she went blind (does anyone remember how that happened? Did someone throw a ball in her face?) and they invited her to stay with them. Then she got her eye sight back but liked living with them so she pretended that she was still unable to see, which is where the dishonestly started creeping back and when they found out James kicked her out for good.

Yes the scene when she breaks down is acted wonderfully. The going blind stry line happened about 5 months before though. While Lachie was still alive. Its happened because of a car accident when Diana was banished by James. One of many times. She was driving out of the bay when it happened.

My take on it is that Lachie was her favourite son and that no woman would ever be good enough for him, hence her dislike of Chloe. When Lachie and then Chloe died, Olivia was a link to Lachie and she did whatever she could to try and get custody of her. And when her other son, James appeared with Chloe's will, saying that under no circumstances would Diana get custody. So even though family meant everything to her, she ended up with nothing.

And yes, her husband was openly gay, but she stayed with him for fear of being ridiculed. Her status was too important to her.
