Does this mean we can now get classic episodes on dvd?

I'm pretty sure 7 always said quite firmly that the reason we'd never get repeats of classic Home and Away on TV is because of contract reasons. And for the same reason we'd never get DVDs of classic episodes either.

Now that we miraculously CAN get repeats (conveniently they managed to sort out those complicated contract issues the same day 7Two was launched  ) doesn't this open the door for some DVD releases? Best Of's, either by year or by genre (eg villains, weddings etc), but FULL EPISODES.

They can't pull the contract excuse anymore, so what's the reason? Why not?

I've always wondered, perhaps someone could clarify this for me, that if it being on a different channel DQ's it from repeat status and that somehow this is an original airing.

I cant confirm that but I've definitely read something along those lines before on a TV forum. However LivingTV missed out 1990-1996 and they would have been a premier to the channel.

I think the test will really be when we reach the 1990 episodes at the time they took them off air both here and in the UK - If they take them off again, surely it will mean there is something in between the 1990-1996 episodes contractually or otherwise, stopping them from being repeated.

I know this is slightly off topic and probably greedy but I hope 7 will start doing a double bill everyday.

Yeah, I remember pointing out that Living's gap bore a certain resemblance to Michael Ross.

I'm not saying Dennis Coard is stopping the repeats, just that it was noticable that repeats ended soon after he arrive and were picked up again in later 1996, after his death.

Also, I wonder what they will do after Episode 972 if we get that far.
