Election Discussion

Is anyone watching the election results at the moment?

The difference between BBC News, ITV News and Sky News is driving me crazy.

BBC News has announced 3 Labour, 2 Other

ITV News has announced 8 Labour, 6 Other

Sky News has announced 3 Labour, 1 Lib Dems, 2 Other

How the results can be that different is hard to fathom.

Admittedly the BBC want to wait until results are properly confirmed, but it's disappointing how late they're releasing some of the results after the other big broadcasters.

BBC now on Labour 5, Lib Dem 1, Other 2.

I'm watching - first time I've properly understood it all (and voted, couldn't be bothered last time whilst at Uni) and its actually quite rivetting :P

I tend to just stick with BBC though

I'm watching pretty much every feed I can - and it's weird to see how big the discrepancies actually are.

My first vote too! It's weird to think this is the first one I've actually been old enough.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing what happens now as a result of this election as i've been following it through the media (I'm a political science student with a particular interest in European politics). The one thing seems to particularly interest me is the fact that the UK may eventually end up with a different voting system.

I was delighted to see a Caroline Lucas get the first Green Party seat for the UK.

And DUP leader Peter Robinson lost his seat.

I'm not to familiar with the other parties, i tend to may more attention to Northern Ireland politics rather than the rest of the UK.

I thought it would be harder for Peter Robinson to hold on to his seat this year after all the stuff that's happened this year with Iris, but I was still a bit shocked when he lost it! I like Naomi Long though.

I'm glad Caitriona Ruane didn't get in, she's made a mess in Northern Ireland, she doesn't need to screw up Westminster as well!

Does this mean no one is prime minister? I am very confused! I actually really got into it all and watched the live debates and stuff (don't ask why) but now I am just majorly confused.

Gordon Brown is still the PM. We will only go an hour so without a PM if it changes, between Brown going to the Queen to step down and presumably Cameron, going to the Queen to request permission to set up a government.
