GOLD Logie winner Ray Meagher has revealed he has married his long-time partner Gilly (both right) in a secret ceremony just months before scooping Australian TV's highest award.

The usually private long-serving Home and Away veteran, who has notched up 22 years in Summer Bay, revealed he tied the knot very quietly in time to celebrate the Gold Logie win with his new wife.

The 65-year-old told New Idea that the couple decided to marry in a private ceremony after six years together.

"When you've both been there before, you don't want fuss and carry-on and all that," he told the magazine.

"We just went away and did it, and then gradually told a few people who mattered to us. We're both very happy about it."

Gilly was noticeably absent from the Logies ceremony at Crown on Sunday night, leaving Meagher to walk the red carpet with his castmates.

"She decided to let me go and do all that by myself," Meagher said. "She didn't want to have me worrying about her."

He also said fans could expect to see his grumpy alter-ego Alf Stewart in Summer Bay for a while yet.

"At the moment, I'm contracted to Home and Away until the end of next year, and my five to six months off to do Priscilla will be added to the end of that," Meagher said.

"I can't even think about anything else for the next 2 1/2 years, and that's like a lifetime for an actor."

Awesome. :D If it was just months before the logies I don't know how he managed to keep that one quiet with all the pre-logies publicity? Lol! :P

Ah, bless! I like to see happy news of marriages, with all the miserable news in the world these days. Congrats to him and his new wife!
