MeganSaturday Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 Well my body is basically alcohol intolerent (which I learnt the hard way) so I don't drink. The only drink I actually liked was white wine anyway so it's no great loss. And besides, I've always had better nights out when I'm sober because I can remember it and I know what I'm saying/doing! The only bad thing I can say about not drinking is that you're automatically expected to look after everyone else, so if your friends aren't being sensible, it can ruin your night a bit.
callyha Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I don't over-drink, but when I do drink, I can get through a few. I can have a great night with drinking, and an even better night without. But I agree with MeganSaturday, If you are the sober one, you find yourself looking out for everyone else.
-Kevin- Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I was actually 17 when I got drunk for the first time which is very unusual these days with most people getting drunk for the first time around 13/15! Sometimes I go out every weekend but other times I can go a month or so without having a drink, depends on whatevers on I suppose. I don't just go to the pub and sit there every weekend I prefer to be going to a party or into town, I'm not into drinking at home at all!! Its very boring and depressing, its alright once in a while when your with friends though. I went out last night and drank 7 pints in the space of 2 hours and well I wasn't in a very healthy state by the time I got home, or this morning for that matter. I won't have another drink for another while though, but I have a 21st next weekend and a 40th the weekend after so I will have to go to both of them but after that I propably won't drink for a few weeks. THANK GOD!! I can't afford all this drinking. I hate being the one not drinking because you always end up lookin out for everyone else like callyha said, and its also so annoying trying to watch out for them. I don't think alcoholism is a problem a such in this country although drinking is very popular here - hey its what the Irish are known for
DinerLandlord Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 It's a double-edged sword really. Alcohol can be so great but also so awful. Sorry I know that wasn't very insightful, but that's all I have to say for now.
Lesley Bee Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 For me personally i just hate everything about alcohol, the taste, the smell and just generally what it does to people. I had a particularly bad experience on my 21st birthday when my drink was spiked and since then i have never touched it.
Adelle_fan1000 Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 I was 14 when i first gupled down my first champagne.. i wasnt drunk just slightly out of the way tipsy at a wedding But now i dont drink it so i get really bad Heart burn from it so i avoid it at all costs now... I can take medication for it but i dont worry And i think its a hugeee problem in AUS.. the amount of alcohol intake here is incredible...
flyingwithoutwings Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 I'm not of an age to legally drink yet, so I can't comment on how it effects me, or how many I can handle etc. But I think alcoholism is a big problem, wherever you go. Despite the age limit, alcohol's alcohol, and it's everywhere. Through media, or generally in life, it's there. It's how people choose to, or not to drink it. People should know their limits. Which is where Alcoholism comes into play. People don't know their limits, and it's a problem. They become violent and aggressive. It's not always fun and games, getting tipsy and being all giggly and stupid. It can be pretty hardcore sometimes. I've had a few experiences with people and alcohol, and it's had huge effects on me, and changed my life. But I also think 'Alcoholism' can be coined as an excuse, too, sometimes. Much like 'sex addiction,' some people excuse their behaviour because they have an 'illness.' I don't think it's an illness as such, it's a choice, and a lifestyle some people become accustomed to. I have tried alcohol, but I'm not one of the typical teenagers now-a-days that gets drunk every weekend, thinking it's the trend, and that's it's cool. It's not, it's stupid, and they look even more stupid than they probably already are for letting themselves get to that.
rockstarrr08 Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 I'm only a 'one day' drinker. I had my proper first drink when I turned 18 this year. I have tried various drinks champs, light beer and vodka (cruisers). I don't intend to get drunk (off my face). I would only drink on special occasions or at a friends birthday party
~Lynd~ Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 I drink but usually not to the point that I don't know what i'm doing. That's only happened a handful of times.I think underage drinking is a problem but I also think the reason for it is people who don't want kids having them and not taking responsibility for them.A different discussion all together
