Mistified Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 This isn't a suggestion as such because frankly it doesn't matter one way or the other, but it is more of an observation. I note that there are registered accounts which are no longer in use, and I wonder why these aren't closed down or removed? Perhaps it doesn't matter or doesn't take up room or whatever, but I suppose I just see it as skewing the actual member figures when you compare the actual users to the registered members.

Yeah I agree . I think old and unused accounts should be deleted . and I think the actual active members and the actual amount of registered members are going to be so different. I think less than half or even a quarter of registered members are actual active members.
Symphony Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Agree too - the rp I go on has to regularly cull down 500+ accounts [well, once or twice a year that is] because so many people join but never use their accounts - then again, I joined on here, and didn't actually become active for a year after joining

Ah, but just because someone isn't posting doesn't mean they are not using the account Take myself for example, I've been a member for a while, but haven't posted before this.
Foxy Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 As the post above suggests, many people like to come and visit the forum, for varying reasons, without actually posting, and that's completely fine - and so we wouldn't want to close the account of someone who still actively visited. Also, if members have posted before we like to think the option should be there for them, should they wish to return at any point, and be able to use the similar account. Also, any completely deleted accounts have their posts reverted to being posted by a "guest" which can end up looking a bit messy. I can see your thinking behind it, but I hope you can understand why we leave them open.
adellejefferiesxox Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 What happens if we forget our password what can we do?

But you don't need to log in unless you're posting so you really don't need an account, do you? Unless you use PM but I don't know why someone would log in to PM but never actually post. Dormant accounts could then be redefine as those where people might log-in but don't actually use their account other than that. You can still read the site without being logged-in. People who haven't used their account(i.e. logged-in) for say 2 years or more should be just deleted off and if they do choose to start using the site they can register again as a new user.
Mez83 Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 You need an account to view spoilers and see he Australian discussion. I had an account for about 6 months before I started posting. I was too shy to post. I just wanted an account for the sake of having one.
