Awww, I loved that chapter. Aden is so sweet, taking Belle to an expensive restaurant.

I wonder, will Belle tell Amanda about Aden.

Please update.

There's going to be a twist unfortunately when its comes to belle telling amanda about aden.

in this story, i'm having belle still under 18, but finished school

so...im gona make it that amanda having parental authority...which results in stuff happening.

i aint saying no more though :P

It better be good stuff that happens.

You better not make Amanda sleep with Aden, like she did with Drew on the show.

That was too cute. Aden's almost like the ultimate boyfriend :P I need to find one of him.

I wonder what you've got in store re: Amanda. I really doubt Aden would go there with Amanda. He's no Drew!

Chapter 7

He could see green fields stretching out for miles in front of him. The sun was shining bright in the sky. He could feel the warmth against his skin. Then suddenly someone was coughing.

Aden opened his eyes a crack to see Belle coughing and spluttering beside him.

“Babe, are you ok?” he asked anxiously, sitting up straight in the bed, putting his arm around his waist.

She took his hand, trying to calm him, but continued choking uncontrollably. Aden could feel her hand shake in his as her shook. He hit her on the back, gently but firm, hoping it would help. Her coughing ceased a little and her breathing returned to its normal rate.

Aden rubbed her back soothingly as she calmed down, before collapsing, breathless, against his chest.

“Babe, are you ok?” he asked again, running the back of his hand across her forehead.

“It’s just a cough, it’s nothing to worry about,” said Belle, closing her eyes.

He frowned as he saw how quickly her tummy raised and fell as she breathed.

“Belle, it’s been getting worse for weeks, are you sure it’s just a cough?” said Aden, unconvinced. “Maybe we should go see a doctor.”

“No, no. No doctors,” said Belle frantically, sitting up suddenly.

This sudden action brought on another round of coughing. Aden held her closely, as she tried to control it.

When she had stopped, she turned to face Aden, her faced full of determination.

“No doctors,” she said, sternly.

Aden nodded. “Fine, but if it’s getting worse, I’m taking you no matter what you say.”

Belle smiled, and leaned in to kiss him gently. She looked out the window, into the brilliant sunlight. Suddenly she gasped, and looked at the clock.

“Shoot! I’m going to be so late!”

“Late for what?” asked Aden, curiously, as Belle jumped off the bed and began routing through her wardrobe.

“Oh…I, eh, have an appointment,” she said, as she pulled out a blue tank top and skinny jeans.

“What appointment?” asked Aden, suspiciously.

Belle paused, then looked up to smile at him.

“Can’t say, sorry!”

He laughed at her menacing smile.

“You are such an evil little thing, you know!”

She grinned. “I know!”

He left the room so Belle could get changed, heading for the kitchen to get some breakfast.

“Belle almost ready, darl?” asked Irene, as she saw Aden come in.

“Yeah she is,” said Aden, opening the fridge. “Can you tell me where you two are going?”

Irene looked at him, her eyebrows raised. “Has Belle not told you?”

“Nope!”

Irene smiled. “Well then she’d beat the living daylights of me, if I told you!”

“That sounds like Belle,” said Aden, chuckling lightly, helping himself to some orange juice.

“Irene, I am up and I am ready,” said Belle, cheerily, as she pranced into the room.

Irene and Aden exchanged a glance, and then looked away quickly, chuckling lightly.

“You ready?” asked Belle, looking at Irene.

Irene nodded grabbing her keys, and heading for the door.

“I’ll be in the car!”

Belle walked over and wrapped her arms around Aden’s waist, resting her head against his chest.

“I’ll be back soon,” she said.

He wound his arms around her back.

“I can’t come with you,” he said, sadly.

“Nope, sorry!”

“It’s alright,” he said, kissing her forehead lightly, as she pulled away. “You’ll tell me when your ready. I know that.”

She smiled. “Thank you for being so understanding about it.”

“Anytime.”

They jumped as Irene honked the car horn loudly.

“See ya!” said Belle, leaning up and pecking him on the lips.

He watched her leave, hoping with all his heart that she would tell him soon.

“I’m sorry, what?”

Belle glared at the doctor furiously, daggers shooting out of her eyes. He gulped nervously.

“I’m afraid the facilities to treat your condition are no longer available here,” he said.

Belle shook her head, refusing to believe it.

“So your telling me I have to move to the city to be treated?”

“I’m afraid so,” said the doctor, as he pulled Belle’s file out of his cabinet.

Belle couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Her whole life was here in Summer Bay. Her job. Her family. Her friends. Aden.

A tear trickled down her cheek as she thought as having to break up with him. There was no way their relationship could survive with her living in the city.

Irene, having seen her face, reached over and placed a comforting arm on her back.

“It’ll be alright, love, you’ll see.”

Belle looked over at Irene. “How will any of this be ok? I can’t leave Summer Bay; it’s my home. And what about Aden? He is my whole life. This can’t be happening Irene.

“Darl, I’m sorry, but all we need to focus on right now is you, and your health,” said Irene, softly, rubbing circles on her back. “Aden will understand.”

“No, I can’t do it. I can’t break up with him,” said Belle, shaking her head, determinedly.

The doctor rose from his chair, quietly. “I’ll give you two a few moments alone.”

Belle buried her head in her lap as the doctor left. Her body began to shake, as her sobs grew louder.

“Belle, sweetheart, listen to me,” said Irene, desperately. “Everything’s going to be ok. You’ll be able to live with Amanda, and you’ll be able to see Ryan everyday, and I’ll come and visit, and I’m sure Aden, Annie and Geoff will too!”

Belle couldn’t say anything. She just cried and cried and cried. Irene stood up and put a comforting arm around her. Gently, she lifted Belle up from the chair and guided her towards the door.

Aden was still at home when Irene arrived with Belle.

“Hey, hey, what’s happened?” he asked worriedly, as he say Irene guided a what seemed broken Belle through the backdoor.

Belle pulled away slowly from Irene’s hold, and then collapsed into Aden’s awaiting arms.

“Babe, babe, what’s wrong? I’m here!”

Belle said nothing, she just cried endlessly, as Aden held her in his arms. He threw a desperate look over at Irene, but she seemed lost for words.

Carefully, Aden guided her towards her bedroom, as he sobs grew loudly. As he sat down on the bed, he lifted her up, and cradled her gently in his arms. She buried her head deep in his chest as the tears ran endlessly down her face.

For what seemed hours to Aden, he just held her in his arms on the bed, until finally the tears stopped, her breathing slowed and she fell asleep in his arms.

Gently, he shifted around and laid her gently down on the bed, pulling a blanket up over her. As he pulled away, he was shocked by the look of Belle’s face. It was all swollen from crying; her cheeks red and tear blotched.

She moved restlessly in her sleep. Aden reached out and rubbed her arm gently. Her movements ceased and she drifted off to sleep again. Aden sat with her all afternoon. She didn’t awake until the late hours of the evening, but still didn’t say anything.

She just sat up against the headboard, staring at the wall opposite her. Aden held her hand, rubbing circles round her palm. Silently, she slid forward towards him. Instinctively, he wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her into his lap. She rested her head against his chest, keeping a firm grip on his hand, as if he was going to disappear if she let go.

He sat holding her, just as silent. He didn’t need to break it. She would talk when she was ready. He didn’t want to push her. When it was obvious that she had fallen asleep again, he lifted her up and under the duvet covers, resting her head gently against the pillow.

Slipping his shirt off, he slid into the bed beside her, wrapping his arm around her waist, reassuringly. Eventually, he dosed off after watching her sleep for over an hour. Her breathing had evened out, and her face was less swollen.

He hoped she would feel better, and ready to talk in the morning. It was killing him not knowing what was hurting her so much, but he had a feeling that it was the same as what she was hiding from him this morning.

The night crept by quickly, and before Aden knew it, it was morning again. He awoke to find Belle sleeping peacefully beside him. He smiled, slightly, pleased that she had got a good night’s rest. It would have done her the world of good.

Carefully, he slipped out of the bed, and threw his shirt on. He sat on the edge of the bed, watching Belle sleep.

The redness was all but gone from her face, and it was no longer swollen. If he had not seen her so upset the day before, he might not have thought something was wrong after seeing her like this. She looked so peaceful when she slept.

He chanced going out to the kitchen for a few minutes to get a glass of water.

The house was quiet. Annie and Geoff had spent the night at the farm, helping Martha, and Irene was still asleep, Aden imagined.

He quietly poured himself a glass of water from the sink. He closed his eyes as he imagined the events of yesterday. It was in this very spot that Belle collapsed into his arms. Her body had seemed so weak and fragile; as if it would snap at the lightest touched.

Aden shuddered, as he remembered. He opened his eyes, and shook his head, determined not to remember that again. It was too painful to see Belle so upset.

He returned to Belle’s room to find her sitting up against the headboard. She looked at him as he entered the room. Setting his glass on the dressing table, he sat down on the bed beside her and took her hand.

They looked into each other’s eyes wordlessly. Belle looked down at her hand that was held in Aden’s, and a few more tears trickled down her face. Aden saw these, and wiped them away with his finger. Belle looked up at him.

“Sorry…” she said, her voice barely a whisper. “For last night. That won’t happen again.”

“Babe, you have nothing to apologise for,” said Aden, determinedly.

She shook her head. “No, I do. You shouldn’t have to put up with that.”

“Babe, I’m here for you, no matter what.”

She smiled at him gently, and then looked down at their hands again.

“Babe, I know you might not want to talk about it, but…”

“I’m going to tell you now Aden, ok,” she said, softly.

He nodded. “Sorry, I didn’t want to seem impatient.”

She shook her head. “No you have a right to know.”

She leaned forward and took both his hands in hers. She then took a deep breath and looked into his eyes.

“The appointment this morning…was with my specialist,” she began.

Aden frowned. “Specialist?”

A few tears ran down Belle’s face.

“Aden, I have cystic fibrosis.”

Aden’s mind froze. Cystic fibrosis, oh God, no.

“They don’t have the facilities to treat me here,” continued Belle. “The doctor’s say I have to move to the city.”

Aden had zoned out at this point. All he had heard was ‘cystic fibrosis’, ‘problem’ and ‘city’.

“I’m so sorry, Aden,” said Belle as she burst into tears again, collapsing into his chest.

Subconsciously, he wrapped his arms around her back. He was hearing nothing though. His world had ended when he had realised what this meant.

His life with Belle, his love for Belle, would be over in only a short few years.
