...but I guess the one thing that gives me satisfaction out of this whole thing is that, Aden and Belle are going to be together...and if thats rubbing it in everybodys faces *cough anti-adelle fans*cough* then im ALL FOR IT!!!!!!!!

Isn't that a little uncalled for as well. Yes, we all know it is not real but if a character causes such emotion then the monkeys are doing something right. Don't say it is fake when you are postings a post that is just as strong and feels just like you don't realize it is fake.

Can't we all just get along... and get back to the important things? Like Belle without adding the Aden

Yeah exactly you say it is fake when at the same time you feel very strongly about it.It is kind of contradicting what you are saying.

Ok, ok i just read my post again and i think i contradicted myself there SORRY GUYS, just ignore that first sentence

but the second sentence i stand by cause i do get satisfaction out it theres nothing wrong with that! I think if Belle's character is stirring sooo much discussion on this thread then im going to discuss how i feel about her, acting wise, and stick up for her, anti wise. I think the one thing we ALL have to realise is that when you post your feelings about a character than don't assume that other people feel the same way when they clearly don't, and i think thats what got people so riled up...don't worry i do that all the time, and i might do that in the future, so yes we should just get along but like Cal said we are all entitled to our opinions, even if those anti opinions do p*** me off But thats not gonna hold me back and make me not want to come on here to prove MY point either!

Ok so I think we have established that I hate Belle with an almighty passion, and I think all of my hatred towards her has stemmed from her treatment of Angelo to be honest.

I am sure if Belle does not do anything highly stupid over the next year(I dont like the chances) I might start to like her but like I said I wouldnt hold my breath.She likes to be a mistake well I suppose she likes to make lots of mistakes because she was one big fat mistake anyway when Amanda fell pregnant with her.

I wouldn’t say I hate Belle (even though I can understand why some people do) but to be honest I do find that I’m liking her less and less. Thoroughly enjoyed all the stuff with Amanda a couple of years ago but recently I just find the character quite boring and there seems to be too much emphasis on her relationship with Aden rather than progressing her storylines as an individual. Granted there was the waste disposal storyline but that just seemed a way for the writers to reunite her with Aden.

As I’ve said before it would appear as though she has no friends (maybe she could form a club with Jack because he doesn’t appear to have any either). I do remember her trying to start some sort of book club a while back but nobody turned up for that except Angelo (if my memory serves me correctly).

I’m going to go into broken record mode again and repeat what I said on another thread but why is she still working at the Den? Someone as passionate as her could surely start thinking of pursing a career in journalism. Also I would like to see her spend time with someone other than Aden (I don’t really want to bring Aden into this as this is Belle’s thread but feel that they are both becoming more and more intertwined that it is harder to separate them). I would also like to see the writers pair her up with another female she could become close friends and socialise with (like Matilda).

So at the moment she just isn’t doing it for me.

She had Cassie, Matilda and Ric before. Things were different then. And that's one of the things I don't like about the character at the moment. Friends aside, how often do we see her spend time with Irene or even Geoff for that matter?

I said in a thread some time ago that the writers seemed to be trying to establish Belle as an individual now that most of her teenage group has left the show. At the time I thought that they were doing a really good job of it. I agree with Slade that to make further progress with this she does need to re-establish her career in journalism or photography so that we can see her in a work setting interracting with other people and developing an adult personality.

At this stage she is on a downward spiral and when she hits bottom, however that might be, there will be a golden opportunity for the writers to do all this as she recovers. They may even make it part of the recovery process.

I find the writing of Belle to be very consistent. She is a very driven character with "tunnel vision" very much prone to becoming obsessed with people or issues. She doesn't tend to realise the damage these obsessions can cause to others until it is too late. In fact at the moment she isn't really aware of the damage she is doing to herself.

I agree with those who see Belle as a character in deep trouble. Much of her behaviour is not particularly attractive. However I do find her absorbing as a character because I know so many people just like her who are living their lives coping with personalities damaged by their background and/or events seeking to make some sense out of life. They are like drowning swimmers who can sometimes be a real danger to their "rescuers" by clinging on in terror. Sometimes they succeed and rise above their circumstances, all too often they fail and in doing so damage both themselves and those around them.

I look forward to the coming year as I see Belle not only in relation to Aden but in how she interracts with all the other characters in the show.

Couldn't agree more with you there....love her or hate her, there's no denying she's consistent, and I think she's one of the few characters that made it through the 2006/07 period without undergoing some sort of huge personality change just for the sake of a storyline.

Although her relationship with Aden ultimately seeped its way into the development storyline I think it was very much a story which established Belle as an individual, showing what she believes to be right and wrong, and the way the line blurs when one or the other is compromised - which was much needed in my opinion, it gave her something other than Aden as a focus and the danger of coupling two characters together is that they can lose all focus of other things going on around them and become too dependant on each other.

What's really keeping me hooked on Belle at the moment though is the fallout from her attack and the way in which she's coping with it (or isn't as the case may be)....not to my recollection have we seen such a drawn out post-traumatic-stress type disorder played out in the show and its nice to see it being handled with care and not resolving itself overnight (as was the case with Ric earlier in the year...) - I hope they address the fact that it surely can't just be the development storyline thats causing it, and address other areas in her life which are factors into her downward spiral.
