This may sound a bizarre subject, but has Sally always referred to Alf as Mr. Stewart.?.

It sound even more strange that she calls him Mr. Stewart as they live together, she calls Morag, Morag and all the other senior people, maybe exception to Donald Fisher.

In a 2001 episode she called him Alf then when relating to a school issue with Duncan.

I just wondered if I have missed something from this, I am sure she may have called him Alf in the 1990s.

In the older episodes on Five Life (2000/2001) she often refers to him as Alf. I wonder if when they decided to bring Sally and Alf together they decided she would always refer to him as Mr Stewart as a way of showing the length of time they've known each other and emphasising the fact she was only a little girl when she arrived - a way of remembering the early roots of the show?

I think it's a bit...weird. Having said that when we reached Sixth form..i kept calling my LAMDA teacher Mrs Fitz. instead of "Kate." I sometimes find it a bit weird...but loads of my friends call my dad "Marc" now that he isn't a teacher at their school anymore.....

I'd understand it more if she called Don, "Mr. Fisher" ...sometimes it's sweet when she calls him Mr.Stewart...but it just seems really formal, especially since she's living with him. Strange.

i always notice it too, it annoys me. yes she may have called him mr.stewart since she was little and it shows the amount of time shes known him buuuuut surely when you know someone for a long time you would call them alf.. and wouldnt he prefer her to call him alf? it just seems strange to me.
