CHAPTER 12

She was screaming. She knew that. But she couldn’t hear herself. She couldn’t hear anything except the noises coming from Tim.

She couldn’t see anything except his face. Greedy. Desperate.

And she couldn’t feel anything except the body on top her. Suffocating. His overpowering strength pinning her to the cold, hard floor of the van.

She was fighting. But she was tired. She just wanted it to stop …

--------------------------------

“Hey mate, have you see Martha,” Jack asked desperately as he ran up to a friend.

“Actually yea I did see her, a while ago.”

“Where was she?” Jack asked urgently.

It wasn’t like Martha to just disappear, he was worried.

“Uh, I think I saw her about half an hour going up to the toilet block.”

“Ok, thanks mate,” Jack said as he turned and started to walk briskly towards the toilet block.

He didn’t know why he was worrying, Martha had only gone to the toilet for Gods sake! But for some reason, Jack had a sick feeling in his stomach, like something was wrong…really wrong.

Suddenly Jack couldn’t contain himself any longer and he started running towards to building.

-------------------------------

“No,” Martha managed to grunt, using all her strength to try and push the heavy body off her. But Tim just wouldn’t stop.

He removed his lips from her mouth and moved it down her neck, searching for a pulse point. Finding, it he satisfactorily sucked on her skin. Martha felt blood rush to the surface of her skin. Tim pulled back and looked at her.

“Having fun?” he grinned.

“Please, please Tim. Please stop,” Martha pleaded, tears streaming down her face.

Tim ignored her. Pushing his body back on top of hers. He put his lips back over hers, prying her lips open and forcing his tongue inside her mouth. His breathe tasted like alcohol and smoke.

Tim pushed down on Martha’s stomach, causing Martha to cry out in pain. She just wanted Jack to come and save her. Where was he?

------------------

Jack walked through the car park, next to the toilet block. It was deserted except for an orange van that he recognized was Tim’s.

“Martha,” he called tentatively, taking small slow steps through the car park. Unless she was still in the bathroom, it was obvious she wasn’t here.

Jack sighed, turned, and began walking back towards the party. Suddenly something stopped him. A sound. He wasn’t quite sure what is was that made him stop. He stood still, for about thirty seconds, then, when he didn’t hear it again, continued to walk.

Then he heard it again. Louder this time. It sounded like a muffled scream. He walked slowly towards the only place the sound could be coming from, Tim’s van. As he neared, Jack could hear other noises. Moaning and grunting.

After a little while, he decided it was just a couple having some fun. He was just about to turn and leave when he heard a little voice.

“Tim, please stop.”

Jack knew that voice. He would know it anywhere. It was Martha. He stood still for a second, letting himself process this. Then he turned around, ran the last few steps towards the van and pulled open the door to boot. Jack was confronted by the site of a heavily drunk Tim, lying on top of Martha. She was crying.

“What the hell do you think your doing?” Jack growled at Tim, pulling him off Martha.

As soon as the suffocating body was off her, Martha quickly found her dress and pulled it over head.

“What the hell do you think your doing?” Jack yelled again.

When Tim didn’t answer, Jack used all his strength to punch Tim in the face. Tim fell back as Jack’s fist connected with his face. When Tim hit the ground, he looked up, blood streaming from his nose.

Seeing Jack’s expression, he knew that there was more coming if he didn’t get away. Picking himself up from the ground, he turned and ran. Jack watched him go. He was tempted to run after him, but Martha needed him more.

Turning back to the van, Jack pulled Martha into his arms. Stroking her hair, he let her cry against his chest.

“It’s ok. Everything’s going to be alright,” Jack murmured as he kissed the top of her head.

Martha let the tears run down her cheeks as she rested her head against Jack’s chest. She felt safe with his strong arms around her. After a while she pulled away and looked at his face.

Jack wiped away a tear from her face with his thumb.

“Did, he…” Jack hesitated in asking the inevitable question, “Did he… get very far?”

Martha looked at Jack, so wanting to tell him the answer he wanted to hear. But she couldn’t.

“Jack,” Martha managed to whisper, “You’re too late.”

Jack's heart stopped and yet he still found the strength to hold her sobbing into his arms. How were they to survive this?
