Too many contests?

It has been bought to our attention that there is a lot of contests being started up in here and that its getting to the point where a lot of threads are being lost on the forum because of the contests.

The moderators have discussed some ideas such as reducing the number of contests to the main one or two and then running the rest either montly. So each month sees a different competition run or continuously, like they run the fanfic challenges so whoever wins one contest hosts the next of their choice. Either of those would keep the challenges fresh, allow for new ideas and stop artwork being lost in amongst the contests.

We would also appreciate it if members wouldn't start new competitions in the interim while we sort this issue out. New competitions are being made for certain subjects, which is taking up space. If you want to start a new contest, please make sure that it is a new type of competition,ie. The T-shirt design Competition. We do not want competitions on each subject, ie. Cartoons, Animals etc.

Definitely. There seems to be one for a whole heap for different subjects when really theres already the av contest which those subjects could be tied in with....

I don't know, in my opinion as long as a contest has people who wants to enter, let them enter. If people think there are too many - no one forces them to enter.

I like that there are a quite a few going on,that way you can take part in one and while waiting for it to go ahead you got another one or two keeping you busy aswell,because they are all going on at different times.

And contests like One on One and LIMs go on for weeks..Although if you get voted out,then its along waiting game..But its good to have a few others that you can play weekly.

But there maybe some that could be blended together,because it is only a set theme which could be put into the general avatar contest.

I agree with Kat and Amy. I recon we don't need stuff like Animal, Cartoon etc. Contests as they could be put under Av Contests, LIMS, Tshirt etc.

But in a way I agree with Kyle, If People want to enter let them. If Contests take over the Artwork Forum the Admins could create a Sub-Forum for them?

To be honest I don't spend enough time in here but it has been bought up and we figured it might be best to get the opinion of people who do come in here so the more people who give an opinion or suggestion the better really.

A sub forum was mentioned amongst the moderators but is there really enough contests to warrant a whole new forum? As I can see, at the moment there's enough contests for a lot of the artwork to get lost but not enough to warant a sub forum. Like I say I don't come here often enough. *shrugs*

I actually think so, you know... Can't you like "test drive" it or hold a poll or something? Just a suggestion...?

A sub forum could be good because normal graphic threads do get lost within them and the contest threads,which have the main discussion thread and then that current contest thread for each contest,get pushed back because of normal grathic threads which could effect the votes.

But then a subforum could lead to tons more contests being created which could easy fit into all the others.

Maybe the contests discussion threads could be pinned in the subforum and then the current round threads can be posted as normal..That would mean people who want to create a new contest,would see that they are pinned and could think whether it does need to have a seperate contest or could be just a subject for one of the others.

Just a thought.

I think a Sub-forum is a good Idea, because we also have the Threads where the Results and Contest ideas are Posted...

So if we make a list of all the Contests, Multiply it by two and we have a high-ish figure I think it would be worth it (and we still have the Threads from Previous Contests right?)

As people know i come in here alot.

And i think a sub-forum would be a good idea, it's just funny how you say it "warrant" As if some massive investigation needs to be done in order for a sub forum to be created.

Kirst (Kat) has a point once the figures are doubled that's quite alot of threads. Also, if a sub-forum was created wouldn't that solve the problem of artwork threads not being able to be found? As there would just be artwork threads in this section?
