I love Megan, shes awesome.

Ric nods.

“Maybe it’s because there are lots of mares to keep him company…”

Megan glares at Ric.

“Oh shut your gob! Blaze is not like that!”

“Oh? Does he like stallions?”

Megan sticks her tongue out at him

Aww, the love (which will not get in the away of Ric and Matilda)

More soon :)

Thanks for the feedback! Here's the next part:

PART 5

“Ric, can you pass the butter please.”

Ric passes the butter to Megan and grins.

“So how are you feeling?”

“About?”

He rolls his eyes, laughing.

“School!”

Megan just looks at him and Cassie puts her hand on Megan’s arm comfortingly.

“Don’t worry about it, Meg. Mattie and I will show you around and introduce you to some of the younger kids. What year are you doing?”

Megan makes a face.

“Brad said I had to do year ten – because I didn’t finish it in Ireland and he doesn’t want me to be overwhelmed with new work.”

Cassie nods.

“It’s probably better that way. Oh, look at the time… we have to go. You coming?”

Megan nods and takes a last bite of her toast before standing up.

“Right, let’s go.”

They run out and Ric shakes his head before leaning over to grab another piece of bread.

“Whoa… who is that with Cassie?”

Lucas and Drew look at the attractive girl, their eyes shining.

Matilda rolls her eyes and Belle hits Drew playfully.

“Hey!”

“Sorry!”

He looks at her and winks.

“You know you’re the one for me, Taylor…”

Matilda rolls her eyes and Lucas makes a gagging sound. Belle looks at the girl with interest.

“Who is she?”

Mattie looks at Megan for a while before answering.

“Megan Evans. She’s living with Sally and Brad now. Her parents are both dead. And she’s Irish.”

Drew smiles.

“Oh, I love an Irish accent.”

“Drew!”

Belle looks at him angrily and he laughs.

“Don’t worry, I won’t even look her way. Hey, Luc, maybe we should go and introduce ourselves…”

Lucas nods.

“You know, that’s a good idea…”

Belle throws her hands up in the air and Matilda shakes her head.

“Ric is also fascinated by her. I don’t know why…”

Belle looks at Megan snobbishly.

“Neither do I. She’s not even that pretty.”

Matilda laughs and looks at Belle.

“She’s not bad looking, Belle. And she’s actually real nice.”

Belle snorts and glares at Drew, who is talking to Megan excitedly.

“Well if she thinks she’s stealing Drew from me, she has another think coming.”

Megan looks at Lucas and Drew interestedly, her eyebrows slightly raised.

“So you are both in grade 12?”

Lucas nods.

“Yeah… And you’re in tenth?”

“Supposed to be eleven. But Brad wanted me to finish ten… we had to move before I could finish it in Ireland.”

Drew grins.

“It’s probably better… you wouldn’t want to flunk out.”

“I wouldn’t have flunked out.”

Drew nods.

“Yeah, but home schooling is different from a real school.”

“Me da was real smart, I’ll have you know. He taught me more than you could ever know.”

Lucas sniggers and looks at Drew.

“It’s like she already knows you, mate.”

“Very funny.”

He looks at Megan and winks.

“Listen, if anyone gives you trouble… just tell me and I’ll sort them out.”

Lucas glares at Drew and smiles at Megan.

“And if you need any help with school… I’m here for you!”

Megan nods.

“Right… Thanks guys, but I’m sure Brad and Sally will be able to help me too. I’ll see you around. Come on, Cassie.”

She starts walking away immediately, followed by Cassie – who can’t control her laughter.

“Wow… you crushed their ego’s.”

Megan laughs and looks at Cassie seriously.

“So the cub with the light hair… is he any good? As a writer, I mean.”

“Oh, Lucas? Yeah, he’s a great writer. Why?”

“Just curious… So I guess he’s really smart.”

Cassie shrugs.

“I wouldn’t say that… he’s not dumb, but he’s not outstanding – except for in English of course.”

“Oh.”

Megan simply shrugs, looking as though she has lost all interest and keeps walking, Cassie tagging along behind her.

PART 6

“Mr. Garrison called in sick… which means that I have to take his classes.”

Sally looks at Brad sympathetically.

“Biology? Do you want me to do it?”

He smiles and squeezes her shoulder.

“No, it’s okay. I’ll do it, beats sitting in my office the whole day.”

“Okay… well if you need me just call…”

He winks at her suggestively and she gasps mockingly.

“Mr. Armstrong!”

Brad laughs and kisses her on her cheek.

“I love you.”

“I love you too… Oh, I have a class in five minutes, so I’ll see you later?”

“Sure!”

Sally disappears around the corner and Brad takes a deep breath before walking into the Biology class.

“So what do you have first?”

Megan looks at her timetable with a frown.

“Ooh, Biology. Mr. S. Garrison. Is he any good?”

Cassie nods.

“Yeah, all our teachers are good…”

“Is he smart?”

“I… I guess so… He teaches Biology after all.”

Megan shrugs again.

“So where is his class?”

“Oh, follow me.”

“Shouldn’t you be in class?”

Cassie looks over her shoulder when Sally speaks behind her.

“Oh, yeah… I just showed Megan to Mr. Garrison’s class.”

“Oh, she there first?”

“Yeah.”

Sally nods and both Sal and Cassie start walking to Sally’s class. Cassie frowns lightly.

“She wanted to know whether he was a good teacher.”

“Well she’s going to have to wait a while to find out, he’s not here.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah, Brad is taking his classes.”

“Poor Brad…”

“And that’s all for today. Thank you!”

Brad sighs when the bell rings and the students leave. Megan looks at the blackboard curiously, a small frown between her brows. Brad gives her a friendly smile and a pat on the shoulder.

“That’s for the year twelve’s. No need to worry about it.”

Megan frowns and shakes her head.

“The diagram isn’t right.”

“What?”

She walks to the blackboard, picking up a piece of chalk.

“For the pepsin to work, the optimum pH is two… at a pH of five as it is here, the pepsin will become inactive, any higher and it will denature. Enzymes are specific, it won’t work at any other pH.”

Brad looks down at the paper in his hand and frowns.

“Right, so if the amino chain moved to the small intestine, which enzymes would work there?”

She rubs her nose, still frowning.

“The pH in the small intestine is 7.5 to 9, active enzymes there are pancreatic amylase, trypsin and lipase. They all work at a neutral pH.”

Brad nods slowly.

“Okay, so you know this how?”

Megan smiles.

“My father was William Evans.”

“The researcher?”

“Yeah.”

Brad looks at her seriously.

“Why didn’t you tell us?”

Megan shrugs.

“You didn’t ask.”

“So his attack… it had something to do with research?”

“I think so. But he didn’t want to tell me about that. He worked on his new research alone.”

“But you were his assistant in all his other research?”

Megan nods and looks at the blackboard again.

“I have English now. I’ll see you later… Mr. Armstrong.”

“William Evans? Are you serious?”

Brad nods and Sally shakes her head.

“The man was a certified genius, his IQ was 197! And Megan? She was his assistant?”

Brad nods.

“Ever since she was six, she’s been assisting him in research.”

Sally nods.

“I guess she’ll have to skip a grade or two.”

“Or two? She’s at university level…”

“But she has to finish her year twelve.”

Brad nods.

“I can’t believe we didn’t realize it though. And I put her in tenth grade! I don’t know what to do with her, she’s going to intimidate every teacher we have.”

Sally shrugs and squeezes his hands.

“We’ll figure something out… to make her less intimidating.”

He kisses her over the table.

“Yeah. I just don’t know what.”
