victim-ofthenight Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Five got Home and Away, They re-run Sons and daughters, also they are all at auction war for Neighbours and now " five" have the rights to start re running " ITV" drama Bad girls as of next week advertised after h&a tonight.
ste Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 To be fair none of those shows were made by ITV. They were all made by independant TV companies and ITV buy contracts to show them (the same way Channel 4 buys The Simpsons, but doesn't own it in any way). There's nothing stopping other channels showing the programs if the production companies who make them sell the rights to those channels. ITV really doesn't have a say in it.

Also, I think ITV and Five are both owned by the same company, so that could be why they are playing swapsies.
Dan F Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 ITV are owned by ITV, whereas Five are owned by RTL
Angel_Parrish Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 Oh, Ive got myself completely confused, theres actually no link between Five and ITV. I thought I'd read something, but it turns out it was just the fact that Five and Freemantle are both owned by RTL. Thanks for clearing it up!
chrissy-star Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 i didnt know five was owned by rtl. thats a german company i think.
