He shows her the photo and she smiles. SALLY; She was adorable. BRAD: Yeah, she was. And look - she's got my mouth. SALLY: Brad... BRAD: I wish she was still a baby. Maybe then we'd have a chance... SALLY: You still do. BRAD: I don't know, Sal... I can't get through to her... I don't know if she lets anyone get too close to her. SALLY: Maybe that's just her way of protecting herself. Maybe she's just scared to get hurt. BRAD: But I'm her father! I would never hurt her! SALLY: I know that. But I don't think she does. ON THE BEACH Kayla and Lucas are sitting next to each other. LUCAS: So... KAYLA: Yeah... They look at each other and start laughing. LUCAS; This is a little strange, isn't it? KAYLA: A little? It's totally strange! LUCAS: It is? KAYLA: Yeah... but in a good way. LUCAS: I agree. Definitely a good way. He pulls her closer and kisses her again. THE DINER: Rocco shivers and Cassie looks at him with a worried frown. CASSIE; Are you okay? ROCCO: Yeah... just a chill, that's all. She takes his hand and they smile at each other. A car drives into Summer Bay... Who is the new resident of Summer Bay? KAYLA: Yeah. Sure. He kisses her quickly and runs off. Kayla slowly stands up and walks to the caravan park. When she enters Brad is still looking at the baby picture. KAYLA: What's that? BRAD: Oh... it's a picture of you. She sits down next to him and laughs. KAYLA: Oh... BRAD: You have my mouth, see? KAYLA: (Looks at Brad) Yeah. I... I have your hands too. They smile at each other uncertainly. BRAD: You are so beautiful. KAYLA: Thanks. He takes one of her hands. BRAD: Look... I know we haven't gotten off at the greatest start, Kayla... but maybe if we could give it a chance... if we both worked hard at it... KAYLA: I get what you're saying. But I don't know. What if it's just not possible? BRAD: What if it is? She looks down and sees the letter KAYLA: What's that? BRAD: Nothing... She picks it up and reads the first few lines. KAYLA: Baggage? BRAD: Kayla... KAYLA: Is that what you think of me as well? BRAD: No! Of course not. KAYLA: Not even for a minute? He bites his lower lip and Kayla glares at him. KAYLA: That's what I thought. She jumps up and runs into the bathroom. Brad follows her. She shuts the door and locks it. Brad taps at the door. BRAD: Kayla! Open up, please? The door however stays shut. IN THE DINER Alf comes in, he is talking on the phone. ALF: Are you sure, mate? Yeah I'll make sure everyone knows. Thank you! Bye. He puts the phone down and Colleen stares at him. COLLEEN: That sounds serious. ALF: That was Niles Barkley... they have reason to believe that Summer Bay will be hit by an earthquake. Tonight. Sally_Fletcher Posted March 21, 2007 Report Share Posted March 21, 2007 HOLDEN/HUNTER HOME Tony, Beth, Matilda, Jack and Lucas are making shelter. Ric runs in. RIC: You heard? MATILDA: Yeah. RIC: I was so worried about you... MATILDA; Come on, you're staying here now. LUCAS: Where's Kayla? RIC; I think she's at home, why? LUCAS: What if she's still on the beach? I have to go look for her! TONY: No Lucas! You stay right here! The earth rumbles and they all duck into the shelter. FLETCHER HOUSE Earth is still rumbling lightly. Kayla falls against the wall in the bathroom, looking scared. The rambling stops. Kayla throws the door open and runs into Brad's arms, shaking. BRAD: Are you okay? KAYLA: Y... yes... BRAD: Come on. They run to the living room and duck under the shelter just in time for anothe violent rumble. Brad holds Kayla against his chest, while holding Sally's hand. Pippa is lying next to Sally, holding her other hand. Cassie and Rocco are also in the shelter. Brad strokes over Kayla's hair. BRAD: Is everyone all right? ROCCO: Yeah... How long is this going to go on? BRAD: No idea. CASSIE: Where's Ric? SALLY: At Matilda's. Where's Mr Stewart? There is another loud rumble and the group huddle closer together. THE DINER Colleen, Irene, Martha and Alf are all huddled together. MARTHA: Is this ever going to stop? ALF: It should be over in a few minutes, love. MARTHA: Does Jack know? ALF: Yeah, I'm sure they do. IRENE: I hope Belle is okay... ALF: She's with young Drew at Leah and Dan's. They'll be fine. There's another shudder and then it's quiet. MARTHA: I have to go and check if Jack is okay! She jumps up and runs out. ALF: Martha! Wait! There might still be aftershocks! He wants to run after her but Irene pulls him down. IRENE: Wait, Alf! ON THE WAY TO THE HOLDEN/HUNTER HOUSE Martha is running. Just as she reaches the Holden front door an after shock hits. She loses balance and falls down. She yells when something falls on top of her. JACK: Martha! TONY: What? JACK: That was Martha, I heard her scream! He jumps up and runs out. Martha is lying on the ground, a large part of a fallen tree is lying over her. Jack bends down next to her. JACK Martha... are you okay? What are you doing here? MARTHA: I was afraid... you didn't know. Wanted to see... Before she can complete the sentence, Jack kisses her.
