Chapter 10

Jack was in bed with some random girl that he met the previous night and he felt nothing from it only that he couldn’t go back to the place where he had condemned his brother to his deathbed.

“Hey sonny boy”

Jack didn’t respond as he just got out of bed pulled on his pants and left the room, the woman was just laying there stunned by his reaction.

Jack sorted himself out and went into a café where Tasha was sat. Jack saw her, groaned and walked straight back out again.

Tasha sighed and ran after him knowing he was going to do this.

“Jack stop now!”

“Why” he said still walking away

“Because Martha said she doesn’t love you anymore”

“What?” that comment made him stop and turn around

“Its true and I don’t think u should stay away for any longer especially from your adorable baby”

“Oh god I really have made a mess of this haven’t I”

“I am not going to lie, yeah u have”

“I have to get out of here and see her”

“Yes, come on I will drive u”

“Thanks”

“My pleasure” with a grin forming on her face.

½ hour later.

Jack walked into his flat which he shared with Martha. Martha looked up and was really shocked to see him.

“Before you say anything, let me see our baby please” he asked

“No, you need to prove yourself to me first otherwise I won’t let you see him”

“Ok” giving in.

They both sat down (separately) and Jack started to talk “when Lucas died I was in denial just like I was when my mother died, I couldn’t handle it so I did what I did best.” he paused

“I ran away because to me that was the most natural thing I do”

Martha spoke for the first time since he started to explain “ok I understand, I would have been the same”

“Can I see him please?”

“Yes, I named him Lucas”

“Thank you so much”

She led him into the bedroom and left him there with Lucas. “Hey baby”

Lucas was just beginning to wake up and Jack sat there besotted with him, he never wanted to let him go.

Tasha came in the house and she and Martha talked to each other. “so what are you going to do about your feelings?”

“You know what, this situation made me realise that I do love him and maybe we should be able to make a real go of it”

“Good”

“But we have to take it slow”

Jack came in and said “thanks for letting me see him”

“It’s fine, he’s our son”

“I better go”

“Why, you live here?”

“I heard u; we do need to take it slow”

“Ok for Lucas’s sake”

“For his sake”

Next chapter: They try again but will it be successful? Jacks one night stand returns and threatens to spoil their reunion.

Chapter 11

Martha was just putting Lucas down when the doorbell rang. She went to answer it and it was Jack.

“Hey, are you ready?”

“What for?”

“Our night in?”

“Oh right, yeh come in”

“Do u want me to get a Chinese?”

“No a pizza”

“The usual”

She nodded “yeah”

They sat down and just watched a DVD ‘it’s a wonderful life’

“I am never watching that again”

“Why not?”

“It’s not my type of movie”

“Oh”

Jack wanted to kiss her but he wasn’t sure if it was too forward or not. Martha made the choice to kiss him, He kissed her but after a while Lucas started to cry.

“Great!”

“Shall i go get him?,” jack asked

“Ok”

Jack went into the other room and picked up Lucas, as soon as Jack picked him up, he began to quieten. By this time Martha had come into the room. “Tasha is taking him for the night so we can have some alone time.”

“Are you sure? You wanted to take it slow?”

“I am sure”

“Good”

Martha took Lucas and Jack followed her thinking ‘I am sure we can make this work.’

“Hey Jacky!”

“Hey Tash”

“Well I better be off”

She left and Jack and Martha resumed their kissing, they soon ended up in bed together. A while later the doorbell rang, Martha said “it must be the delivery guy”

“I’ll go”

Jack got out of bed and put on his boxers and his pants, He went to answer the door and was stunned to see Becky there.

“what are you doing here?”

“You cant expect me to just leave after that exit”

“I'm with my girlfriend!”

“well I guess il have to tell her then”

“Tell me what?” Martha demanded

“Jack cheated on you with me”

She looked at Jack and asked “is it true?”

“yes but…”

“get out! Get your stuff out and you can forget about seeing Lucas ever again”

“Martha please”

“GET OUT”

Jack got his stuff and went, dragging Becky out with him. “why did you have to do that?”

“you really are an idiot arent you Jack, if you really loved her then you wouldn’t have slept with me”

“Oh, just go away” putting his head in his hands.

Martha was in her room crying herself to sleep.

Chapter 12

Martha was still crying when the morning came and she didn’t know how to relieve the pain.

Jack was still outside trying to find some way to help Martha let him and explain why he did what he did.

“Martha let me in!” he shouted banging on the door

“Stop it!” Becky said chidishly with a giggle

“Didn’t I tell u to go away?” Jack asked her well it was a really more of an statement than a question

“Fine I will good luck with her” Becky said and walked off in a Huff

Martha got out of bed and went to open the door; she opened it but made a barrier so Jack couldn’t get through.

“Let me explain please?” He begged her

“Ok I will, hurry up” she said uninterested

Jack breathed in and began to explain:

Flashback

Jack was in a nightclub on his own in a corner when Becky came in and dragged him up for a dance.

They danced for around about half an hour when Becky went to the ‘ladies room’ and had a snort of cocaine.

She got a handful of powder and went to order a drink for Jack, she spiked his drink and that’s how she slept with Jack that night.

Back in summer bay

“And that’s what happened” he finished telling her

“Just go away and let me think about all of this" Martha said

“Ok just believe me when I say that I didn’t sleep with her deliberately” he said once agai

“Ok I do believe you" she half smiled "but I need some more time to process all this" she added

Jack began to walk away and Martha let him as she didn’t know what to do about the situation.

Meanwhile Macca turned up in the bay to see Martha and little baby Lucas. He heard about Jack cheating on Martha and was ready to do him in.

“Hey Macca”

“Martha! Are you all right?”

“Yes, why wouldn’t I be?”

“Jack and his disappearing act?”

“I have forgiven him and I am just on my way to see him”

“Ok I will see you in a while”

“See you then”

She walked up the street to Jacks house and saw Becky knocking on the door. Martha sighed and geared herself up for a cat fight.

Jack opened the door and saw Becky and Martha.

“Ok what’s going on?”

“I need to talk to you please?” Martha said

“Ok come in Martha”

“Becky, go away and never come back”

"Nice to see you too and I will be back!" she said as she walked away

Martha walked in and as Jack shut the door, she turned around and said to him “I understand what you did but I cant get my head around”

“I know you need time and I accept that”

“Good but I don’t need time, I know what I want”

“Which is?”

“I want….” she started!

What does she choose? Jack or not?

Chapter 13

Jack stood there willing Martha to answer the burning question that he really wanted to be answered.

“To be alone and away from you”

Jack didn’t know how to feel apart from utter sadness and he just said

“Fine, shut the door on your way out”

“I hope we can be friends as well” he added

“I don’t know any more” Martha replied

Martha walked out of the house and Jack started to cry like he has never done before.

Martha’s pov

Martha realised that Jack loved her still after everything and she was so upset that at the moment she couldn’t return the feelings.

Jack just lay on his bed thinking of all the good times he had with Martha and how he really wanted her.

Chapter 14 for Rach

A week later and Jack was in the city trying his hardest to forget about Martha. He knew if all he thought about was Martha then he would lose control of his own life, and he wasnt going to let that happen.

The only way he could regain control of his own life was to forget about Martha.

Martha was glad that she had left Jack otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to live her life with Lucas the way she wanted to.

“Hey Jack” Ash said

“Chooka! What brings you here?”

“Work”

“In summer bay?”

“yeh I was just on my way there”

“Ok”

“Want a lift?”

Jack thought to himself, I may as well I can’t stay away forever.

“Yes thanks”

They drove back to summer bay, Jack got out and walked along the beach just watching the tide come in and out.

“Hey Jack” Martha said to him

“Hey, where’s Lucas”

“He’s with Tasha”

“Can I see him?” in a very off putting tone of voice.

“No, I came to tell u that I am not letting you see him anymore”

“What why?”

“you weren’t there when he was born so you don’t have a right to see him.”

“I wont let you, I will fight for him”

“then go ahead, but I wont let you win” morag said from behind him

“Morag why are you trying to destroy this, its not enough that I lose Martha, but now my son aswell!”

“Im sorry, its what Martha wants”

“I wont let you get away with this! I will fight you till the end” and with that he walked away from them, leaving them both stunned.

Chapter 15

Martha and Jack were sat at each end of the court room they had both spoke their case and it was now up to the judge to see which environment would be better for baby Lucas.

“Ok I have made my decision based on all I have heard today and these are the facts”

"Martha Mackenzie or Jack Holden is who the baby shall go to"

"This court rules in the favour of..."

“Jack Holden”

Martha cried out “Noo” as Morag tried to comfort her, Jack picked Lucas up and took one last look at Martha and walked away from her.

He hadn’t got far when Morag caught up with him.

“Jack”

“Yes Morag?”

“Don’t go like this, let Martha see him again for one last time”

“No, she hurt me when she let me go so I don’t think so”

“Please?”

“No I am sorry I am off to England today to start afresh”

“Please?”

“No I need to be away from her”

“When you leaving?”

“Today at 6pm”

“Ok”

With that over, they walked out and left the building, Martha watched him and couldn’t believe how stupid she had been over how she felt about Jack.

“I have to tell him otherwise he will hate me”

“He is leaving soon”

“What, where?”

“Today at 6pm”

Jack was at the airport with a half hour to spare when Martha approached him.

He saw her and instantly picked Lucas up.

“I am not here to take him away”

“Why are you here?”

“To tell you what an idiot I have been over this, you didn’t deserve this and I only did it because I was scared over my feeling for you”

“what are your feelings for me then?”

“I love you and I have something to tell you”

Chapter 16

"Just tell me Martha before I go."

"I am pregnant."

"What!"

"I am 2 months gone."

"Oh my god."

"I wanted you to know so I wasn’t alone."

"What do you expect me to do?"

"Well stay and be with me."

"After what you did to me?"

"I am sorry about that but I still love you."

Jack wondered what to do and he didn’t seem to be able to make a decision.

Martha took the silence to mean he didn’t want to be with her.

She walked away from him but jack picked Lucas up again and followed her.

He put his arms around her and said to her "I love you too and I want us to start again."

As of that Jack and Martha made a solemn to work at their relationship.

They walked out and they went off to start their new life with Lucas and their unborn baby!

Martha POV
