Bec Hewitt switches sides - From Sydney Confidential

November 01, 2006 08:02am

FOR years she was a Channel Seven golden girl, but ex-soap star Bec Hewitt has snubbed her former employer by opting to make her television come-back with rival network Nine.

Almost a year on from the birth of her first daughter to tennis ace husband Lleyton Hewitt, Bec has signed on to co-host Nine's ABBA Mania special alongside music guru Richard Wilkins.

The Hewitt family flew to Melbourne yesterday ahead of tonight's scheduled taping of the program, which will air on November 12.

Featuring a string of celebrity singers performing the songs of the Swedish fab four, the show is based on an overseas format which Nine has licensed from Granada.

The Home and Away star turned millionaire tennis wife has been a big earner for Nine's affiliate magazine company ACP, who reportedly paid $1.6 million for 12 monthly columns penned by Bec and photographic accesss to the couple and their daughter Mia.

It is understood Bec's association with ACP helped Nine to secure the ratings winning personality for the ABBA special, which will showcase performances from Guy Sebastian, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Hi-5 and Kate Ceberano.

While it is currently slated as a one-off, a Nine spokesman said ABBA Mania could potentially spin off into a regular series if it hit the right note with viewers.

With Bec's filming duties for the show wrapped by Thursday, the Hewitts have decided to make their Melbourne visit a combined work and play exercise - RSVP'ing to the top marquees on Derby Day and Cup day.

Their appearance will mark their first public outing at a social event together since the Logie Awards in May.

It has been confirmed, it is in this weeks Inside Soap. And she is back in a storyline regarding baby Noah, and not Noah Lawson as there was speculation that Sarah Lewis was also returning and the two comebacks might be connected.

Somehow i don't think the magazine's done it's research properly. There's no confirmation in that article, only what was on that myspace which is likely to be a fake.I doubt it's true, especially now she's doing this ch 9 thing.
