Neighbours' Ben moves to Summer Bay Thursday October 19, 10:44 AM

The trend for former Neighbours stars being snapped up to appear in other soaps continues.

It was recently announced that Ben Geurens, who played Joe Mangel's son Toby, is about to join Home and Away's cast.

He will make his debut in early 2007 as fresh-faced cop Ash Nader.

Ben first appeared in Neighbours in 1991 when he was just 12 years old, taking over the role from Finn Greentree-Keane, who'd played the youngster since 1988.

Toby eventually left Ramsay Street in 1993 to be reunited

with his dad after a spell living with headmistress Dorothy Burke.

Since then, Ben has had only a couple of TV roles, in Snowy River: The McGregor Saga and Blue Heelers.

Two years ago, he graduated from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art with a degree in Performing Arts.

Other Neighbours stars to crop up elsewhere recently include Simon Gleeson, who played Max Crawford.

He's been making Minty's life a misery in EastEnders as SJ's secret lover Sid.

Elaine Smith (Daphne Clark) also appeared in Home and Away earlier this year, while Anne Charleston (Madge Bishop) will make her Emmerdale debut in a couple of weeks.
