ReWritten Part 4

Present day

“Leah, it’s been 2 days” Alf said to break the silence in the room.

Leah nodded; she knew what Alf was getting at.

“It’s been 2 days, and Sally has shown no signs of life anymore” He continued.

“Alf, you can’t give up on her” Leah said.

“I don’t want to… But I’m beginning to think…” Alf began.

“Think what?” Leah asked.

Alf sighed before replying. “She’s not coming back”

There was another silence that followed

August 20th 2005

Sally looked at her watch again. The time was now 11.45pm and Flynn still was not home. She pondered on the phone call she received earlier. Who was it? What had she done? She thought over it some more, still coming to no conclusion. She started to clear the table, Flynn wasn’t coming home anytime soon, she decided.

“Maybe it got busy?” She thought to herself.

After everything was away, Sally headed up to bed, she reached the stairs when the front door opened. Sally turned and walked back out to the hallway. Flynn had put his bags on the table and looked up at Sally.

“I waited for you” She said, smiling.

Flynn did not say anything; he continued to stare at Sally for a little while longer before finally speaking.

“How did you know?” He said.

Sally began to explain, but then she saw Flynn beginning to smile.

“What’s so funny?” She asked.

“This whole situation” Flynn smirked back.

Sally looked extremely unsure.

“What situation?”

“You had no idea what to say, did you?” Flynn replied back.

“I’m not sure where you’re going with this” Sally said, nervously.

Flynn moved around to the kitchen.

“Flynn?—what—“Sally began.

“I’m not Flynn” He said, picking up an apple.

“What did you say?” Sally asked.

“You heard me” Flynn said again before taking a bite of the apple.

There was a silence, before Flynn began to morph. His hair changed from brown to blonde. It’s length also changed. He began to shrink and at the same time, his clothes began to change. He began to grow breasts, and very soon he no longer looked like Flynn, but instead looked like someone completely different, beside from the fact that he was now a female.

Sally was speechless.

“Flynn?” Sally said,

The woman smiled, she walked over to Sally.

“I’m sorry I had to do that” She said. “But I needed to see something”

Her voice sounded extremely familiar.

“See what exactly?” Sally asked.

“If you knew what you were doing” She smiled again. “And clearly you don’t”

“I have no idea what’s going on here!” She said. “Who are you?”

“My name is Scarlett and I am a Guardian” She said.

“This is beginning to sound really, really ridiculous” Sally said

“Believe me; it can get more complicated, let’s stick to basics”

“How do I know you are real?” Sally asked.

Scarlett walked over to Sally and kicked her.

“Why did you do that for?” Sally said in pain as she grabbed her leg.

“You wanted to see if you were dreaming didn’t you?” Scarlett said smiling.

“What is this all about…? You were the one that called me, wasn’t it?”

“Yes it was, I just wanted to scare you a bit” Scarlett said, grinning

“What have I done?” Sally asked.

Scarlett’s face went still, her grin faded and she became serious.

“You must not change the past” She said quietly.

“Why not?” Sally asked.

“The consequences can be greater than what was started of with” Scarlett said.

Sally paused before replying. “How did I get here?”

“Do you ask what happens when someone dies?” Scarlett asked.

“No… I just assume they have gone to a better place” Sally said defiantly.

“Very good answer” Scarlett said. “Now what would you say if death was pre-designed”

“I would probably say you are crazy, but considering what we are talking about at the moment, I probably would believe you. Sally admitted.

“Death chooses who dies, Think of it like the Grim Reaper” Scarlett began, “When it is someone’s time to die, death comes for them”

“This is beginning to sound a lot like the movie Final Destination” Sally began.

“The idea is pretty much the same, except, they didn’t have one piece of the puzzle”

“And what’s that?” Sally asked.

“When someone cheats the plan, death skips them, like what was shown on Final destination.” Scarlett Paused, “However, some people manage to somehow get in the line between life and death during the process”

Sally stared blankly at Scarlett. “I thought we were sticking to basics?”

Scarlett gave a laugh, “They create a parallel world, similar to their own”

“So I am half dead, in another world?” Sally said uncertainly.

“Good to see you are keeping up!” Scarlett Said, with a grin.

“You were sent back to the point where the most heartache was caused” Scarlett said.

“Why is that?” Sally asked.

“It’s a test to see if you can survive the heartache again” Scarlett replied.

Sally began to understand what was happening.

“What if I change it?” Sally asked.

“Like I said, consequences can be very bad, each is unique” Scarlett said, “Some terrible things can happen, an example is the worlds can swap over”

“What does that mean?” Sally asked nervously.

“Whatever was changed here is changed back in your world” Scarlett said vacantly. “You don’t want that” she added.

“Ok…” Sally said. “There was a lady I met today, she asked me what I would change?, Who is she?”

Scarlett nodded. “That would be my sister, you do not want to listen to her"

"Why is that?" Sally asked.

Scarlett paused before replying, "She is death"
