"Wait, Julie. What about the baby?" "If you can find a surragate mother in an hour, then we can plant it in her, and baby will survive", Julie said. Kim walked into Rachel's room. She looked so frail and thin against the white hospital sheets. She was awake, but barely. "Rach?" She wasn't awake yet. Kim thought up a question to ask Julie. "Wait, Julie. What about the baby?" I know I haven't updated in ages, but there will be another one soon, I promise! --------------------------------------------------------- Kim paced outside Rachel's room. A surragate mother. But who? Leah had already been one for Sally, Irene too old, so was Colleen. Sally couldn't have kids, Cassie was too young, so was Maddie. Amanda, well, then he'd have to risk asking her, same with Belle. Then it hit him. Tash. He would ask Tasha. Her baby had been born a year ago, so there was no problem there. "Rachel!" "I found someone", Kim all but screamed with joy. But Rachel didn't answer. Julie was there pulling out the tubes in her arms. "I'm so sorry Kim....", her voice trailed off. "I hope you have found a surragate, because we can't keep it alive for long". "If we can't get the baby out of Rachel soon and into someone else, it'll die! "And, I can't lose them both. I just can't..." Tash saw the tears forming in Kim's eyes. They were mates. best mates. She would do it for him. That's what friends were for. "Okay. I'll come. But you have to help me get soem stuff together. They won't let me home for ages. And I'll ring Rob. Tell him what's going on, and to look after Ella for awhile. he knows what to do. He'll be fine.", Tash said more to herself than Kim. "Thanks Tash. You really are a legend", Kim replied. Back at the hospital, Julie paced, while watching the clock. Kim, where are you? If you don't get here in 15 minutes, the baby will die. Come on Kim. You have to hurry. Please hurry... Julie looked up, and when she did, she saw Kim running through the doors, with Tasha behind him. "Julie!", He yelled. "We're here, all ready to go". "Thank goodness Kim. You really cut it close". "Are you all ready, Tash?" "Yeah", Tasha responded. "Okay, we have a bed ready, here's a gown, get changed, and then you'll be straight to surgery. Okay?" "oh, and Kim, here's a coat and mask for youy aswell". "What for?", Kim asked. "You get to be there, you'll need to stand back, but you can be there, and when tash wakes up if you like". "Yeah, defenetly, Kim agreed. 5 minutes later, Tasha was in a bed being wheeled into surgery with Kim and Julie by her side. "Thanks again Tash", Kim said. "Without you, I don't know what i would have done". "Let's not think about it", Tasha replied. And with that, the surgeon put the anesthetic mask on Tasha's face, and the opereation began... Just thought I'd add another paragraph while it was in my head: All during the operation, while looking at tasha, Kim couldn;t help thinking about Rachel. That it should be her in there. After an hour, Julie's voice broke his thoughts. "Kim, just thought I'd tell you now, everything went well." "Would you like to know the sex of the baby?" "How can you tell that now?", Kim asked. Kim watched his little girl sleeping in her hospital crib. He thought about a name. "Girl, Charlotte.", "Boy, Lee". That's what Rachel had decided. "So, Charlotte Layne Hyde it is!", Kim exclaimed. "That's so beautiful", Tash said, causing Kim to jump. "Goodness Tash! You scared me! How are you feeling?" "Tired, but okay. Can I please hold her?" "Sure, here you go", Kim said as he handed Charlotte to Tasha. "She is truely gorgeous", Tash whispered. "Tash, thank you so much for all of this." "Don't mention it, Kim". "Seriously Tash, If you hadn't have helped us, then Charlotte would be dead too right now....", Kim trailed off, with tears in his eyes. "Hey Kim. It's alright. Kim slowly walked through the crowed of people, holding Charlotte. Everyone was staring at them, waiting for their next move. Kim jut kept walking, lost in his own world. He soon spotted Tash, who was being tightly held on to by Robbie. 'Hey mate', Robbie said sadly. "Hey Rob', kim answered. "So, this is baby Charlotte', Rob said. 'I called into see Tash, but Charlotte was being fed in another room by a nurse, so I didn't get to meet her. She's beautiful, Kim'. 'Yeah, I know. Thanks for being so supportive, both of you.' He was in a trance, holding Charlotte andrem,embering their wedding day. This is the best day of my life! I love you so much Kim!, Rachel had exclaimed 'Yeah, It was the best day", Kim thought. Charlotte lay in Kim's arms, fast asleep. 'You don't know that it's your mummy's funeral, do you little one?' Kim silently thought. "You look so much like her, absolutly beautiful." Then it struck him. He and Charlotte would leave the bay once this was over. Maybe one day they'd be back...But not yet. There was just too much pain to stay in Summer Bay. They would go to the city, get an apartment, and live there, atleast until Charlotte was 10, or a bit older, maybe. Kim didn't really want to leave, but he had to. They both had to. But they would be back one day. Standing up with Carlotte in his arms, Kim walked over to Rachel's coffin. he silenty put a red rose and a photo of Charlotte on the casket. "We love you Rach.
