Yeah they did plan the Winter finale very well last year. Previous years it was just a random end of week episode with very little to make you go oh my god what happens next. In saying that, I still wish they wouldn't market it as the Season finale. But then I guess we all know it's not. I wonder how long it will be off air this year? Probably the regular six weeks but perhaps eight!

*Confirmed* by Channel 5. Episode 7440 airing on Friday November 20th will mark the last episode of the year for us UK viewers.

No worries. Me too, I thought they would make up those few weeks when the eps dropped to two per week and at least go into the end of the second or third week of December. What im annoyed about is why are they marketing this as the season finale? The season finale is as we all know a major cliffhanger and the weeks running to them are always big build ups. Oh I hate how channel 5 airs the show sometimes. Hey all. It seems that, when you tie in Channel 5s 'Season Finale' not Winter Finale promo, the last episode for 2020 will air on Friday November 20th with episode 7440. Marketed this year as the season finale of Home and Away. Which, it is not.

It seems as if the gap is closing between Seven and Channel Five. Down to three weeks soon? How come? I have to watch online now as I live in Spain. Thankfully can still get my fav show.

True I can do without the next time on Home and Away, it is not needed, but I like those long recaps, especially if you are not able to watch the show as it airs and have to catch up weeks later. So it benefits me I guess because im like oh yeah that happened.

The recaps are longer for sure but I have seen longer than two minutes before. I guess I see why they do it. Home and Away airs a specific way, a story arc covered over maybe four episodes then not even a reference to this and sometimes the characters involved , are not even in episodes at all for a few episodes so you will have a general recap and then the recap from the 'storyarc' to bring that back to the viewers attention. We get the exact same recaps in the UK. As for opening credits I don't care for them on any show these days. I did though much prefer when they did the recap and then the Home and Away logo would come up afterwards. Like from 2004 onwards. I have seen this done weeks later to refer to something and been like oh yeah that happened. So I like the longer recaps

Yes but not stateside. I lived there while it aired and when the opening theme changed on NBC so did the closing. Channel Five aired different closing credits. Not stateside they didn't. I wonder will the female version have a matching closing ? Would be a bit weird to have it different. Remember Sunset Beach on Channel five?! Totally different opening and closing theme! Lets see as the week goes on. To be honest I don't mind the premieres closing but as said above maybe I am being swayed by the fact it is all new. Ha

I actually did the same thing. First time I have ever recorded an episode on five star, but as they air commercial breaks Australian style minus one, it ran over and the end cut out. Typical right with you ??

Monday March 12th will finally reveal what the closing credits for us in the UK will be. Im guessing the same. No change! I would much rather prefer sevens generic credits anyways. They could just supply them with the tapes.

Does anyone know what they show in New Zealand? The show is back there now right so they must have the international closing credits?

I have it on season link ha. So it is always recorded and I sit down to watch it at 7pm on days off work so sometimes I end up watching them Australian style anyways. Two hour episodes etc.

Yeah the Australian scheduling is so erratic at the moment. I wonder why? Im glad we have a simple Monday to Friday airing in the U.K. You see the week as it was taped and meant to be shown

Me too. I asked Channel 5 about these as well and they said the old episodes did not rate very well. Erm, maybe because you guys picked them instead of allowing the fans to do so, which when they did this once, the ratings were pretty good. Thankfully the show is long gone from ITV, they used to edit those episodes so much sometimes I do not know how UK viewers were not left confused. The amount of good stuff( scenes/storylines) you guys missed out on. Anyways that is a whole other thread lol. I just even remember a friend of mine saying im sick of this whole storyline now it is dragging out too much and I said yeah but it was wrapped up four months ago in Australia. Even with baby Luc on the winter return week mate said she looks small is'nt she the same age as Esme (daughter) I said yeah she is but watching it on channel 5 she is still technically only 9 months old! ??

It does make sense and ratings would go way up. I think they should take it off air in the summer again as that is a low ratings period and keep it on over winter with maybe a two week christmas break? Then end the season in January.

Maybe I guess. Have always known Channel Five pays a lot of cash for Home and Away and pretty much half of the production costs, so then would they rather not then air the show as close to Australia as possible, for ratings reasons, as people do go off and watch it online instead. Just doesn't make sense.

I recently emailed Channel Five and asked why we here could not have a full season aired as it does in Australia. January until December. They break it up in such a way that there is never a real cliffhanger for the winter finale that will make people who have just started watching the show think when is this back I need to see what happens next. Channel Five insists on keeping the show six to eight weeks behind the Australian air dates. They could easily go four weeks behind. I guess they do not want it off air too long during the January/winter ratings period but go four weeks behind and use this as Home and Away the season final weeks. They air it in a really weird way. Sometimes when it comes back you have to think oh what happened again?! According to Channel 5 they have been told to keep the show at least six weeks behind by 7 and it is in a contract. I wonder why? When New Zealand does not have to do this. Also 5 airs Neighbours on the same day as Australia here. They could at least go four weeks behind and have January and the finale weeks then premiere the show the same week as Australia. Any thoughts?

No , Ireland will quite regularly split screen and show full blown promos for another show with the 6.30pm airing. Sometimes you hear no words or song at all. But this is the exact same version we get in the U.K ( when channel 5 are not showing promos most of the time anyways and talking over them , credit sqeeze! The vocals are from 2009 visuals from 2011. They need to get rid of them now please.
