  1. Heads up. The storyline currently airing in Australia will serve as the UK Autumn finale in November. It appears, for now, that this would be a mid week finale on Channel 5 in order to maximise the 'big cliffhanger' for return in January. I would also imagine this will be the farewell episode at 6pm.

  2. Got it. Knew there must have been some way of this happening post production for Channel 5 airing. First time I have noticed though, except for the start of most season finale episodes. I wonder what that song was? Any ideas?

I stopped taking notice of the news after crovid I really hate now I don’t know why people watch it you don’t really need to as it’s all over the internet anyway

As for home and away I find it better to watch in chunks now not much happens in single episodes

Tbh, as I have written in previous posts I also watch the show like that and always a few weeks behind. Usually a double Monday night and a triple Tuesday or Thursday depending on my work schedule.

  4. It was most definitely a different soundtrack. Remember there was a song that played with the final scene that had words, follow me or something. On the Channel 5 airing it was just an instrumental tune and totally different.

If they made it available on My5 right after at 7pm that would be fine as it's be in hd on there and I will just watch that. But you're not going to watch it in SD when you have an HD option elsewhere. That's my thoughts anyway haha

Ha, same thoughts here. Tbh I will most probably just set up my series link to record the show at 1.15pm and then just do my usual sit down and watch at 7pm. We aren't loosing the show completely, thank god! Just wish they had bumped Neighbours instead. Ha

I think they want more of us watching 5 star showing so we are exposed to all those blummin adverts. 🙄

They're been trying to do it a while now. With all the messages on screen telling us first look is over on 5 star and the direct to camera shots of the cast telling us to switch over if we "can't wait to see what happens next"

How do we lobby them for 5stsr in HD????? LOL

Oh they will for sure have thought of that, with all those extra commercials. I wouldn't mind watching it on 5STAR but it is just for that exact reason, it's not in HD.

  7. It is such a shame that they have bumped Home and Away at 6pm instead of its bland counterpart Neighbours. It has been a main staple at 6pm but I kind of knew that would happen. They really do treat the show with a pinch of salt ( at the least ). I will now move to the RTE airings instead which are shown exactly as in Australia. Zero edits. They also treat the show and its loyal fans and have always kept it at 6.30pm from the very beginning. Also, Neighbours has always from the very beginning aired at 5.30 in the UK. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

It's disappointing.A part of me considers the 6pm showing the "proper" one, although it's extremely rare for me to watch it these days: My work hours mean I tend to watch the lunchtime showing.

I seem to remember ITV pulled their evening showing towards the end of Home and Away's time on the channel? (Not that I'm suggesting that's the reason here!)

I think ITV did that because they were in a bad mood. Lol 😉

  8. I have just yesterday watched the Olympic finale in the UK. I'm always a few weeks behind. Is there any reason why the song played during the last scene ( car crash ) was completely different to what was played on channel sevens airing? Is it a copyright issue? The song played during Australia's airing for sure made the final scene have more of an impact. Just wondering.

Yeah, probably that. Because we are this week and next totally in the correct airing bloc then out of it

We haven't.  We've been one episode out since the death of Prince Phillip.

However, because the Olympic Cliffhanger was scheduled for a Thursday in Oz, it'll hit us on a Friday.

It seems we are in the same airing bloc as OZ. Has all worked out somehow.

No, we haven't. It's just that Australia is even more out of synch than us, having been showing 6 episodes a week for most of the year (a triple bill on Monday or Thursday, with no episode on Friday). It just seems to be pure coincidence that the end of the pre-Olympic week is also the end of a week here.

Yeah, probably that. Because we are this week and next totally in the correct airing bloc then out of it again.

?? But as of this week OZ Thursday episode is landing here on a Friday and Monday on a Monday. So something has changed along the way.

And then it all goes out of sync again. Lol. Anyways for me like I posted before I watch in a proper bloc anyways. Just always like to know 😁 Just like I will never figure out how RTE in Ireland who was a complete year ahead of ITV then ended up behind channel five ( due to a legal clause ) yet they never ever went off the air for the year that it was not broadcast in the UK.

I think that's pretty much every year these days! But I think it was early enough that the cliffhanger might have been locked in for the end of a block, so Channel 7 had to make sure they broadcast the episode at the end of that week.

Yes, the Olympic Cliffhanger is Episode 7619. Given that Channel 5 is currently broadcasting the show in weeks of ***0-***4/***5-***9, that should be a Friday episode.

Speaking of weekly blocs in the correct order how have we in the next week or so and for sure by the Olympic finale ended up back in sync weekly? I can't seem to figure out how.

Ah, okay. I guess Oz was sticking closer to a five episodes a week schedule in those days, or else it was a lucky coincidence.

Not too sure. I think that was at a time when Seven were jolting from 4 to 7 episodes per week. Mon and Tues single eps and sometimes a double Wednesday then a triple on a Thursday. There was a year when the airings were very very random and all over the place. I think it was to do with a very late premiere in the year and they took a break for something.   So I think it was just a lucky coincidence for sure.
