I agree I really like tori /tess and cant wait for more between her and Riley
Been really impressed by her acting so far this year. She has suddenly stood out to me and is growing on me a lot more. I never disliked Tori, but I also never really had her as a favourite but that could all change

I've really started to like her a lot more over the past 2 episodes. Now that Riley is back in her life it's exciting for her character to have this storyline.

After thinking about his axing a bit more, I've thought of a few more reasons other than his dark past as to why he was axed
1. Too many diner chefs (When you think about it, before he left it was himself, Irene and Leah as the main chefs in the diner. Considering that at the time of his departure was when the kitchen appeared to be quite small, it may have been considered unneccessary to have 3 chefs in such a small space)
2. Aden's development (Before Roman departed, Aden had really changed from bad to good and since he was the man who helped support the change by taking him in, the writers may have thought that there is no point in Roman being around as Aden no longer needed him)
3. Summer Bay House needed someone to foster (Summer Bay House is all about taking kids in (well not so much anymore but at the time it definitely was), and after Melody had left I think the writers wanted to have Nicole being fostered and living in the house)
4. The writers didn't like Charlie and Roman as a couple. Because Angelo was the replacement of Roman, it makes me think that the writers obviously saw more in him being with Charlie over than Roman. That could have been a deciding factor in the axing as Roman was Charlie's first love interest -

According to "The Interview", it was Nic Westaway's decision for Kyle to depart the way he did. But the initial plan was for him to go to prison, just not in the same way that he did.
I think that was what inspired All or Nothing, and because it turned out to be so great it makes me a bit happier with Kyle's departure as it was a way of rebounding from one of the major misses of 2016
I think Nic looks so much younger in all or nothing!.
He definitely looked different with longer hair!
And yes, I agree. He did look younger

Casey was a great character, one of the best ever on the show in my opinion.
His death was definitely the saddest part of 2014 in my opinion as he had a bright future with Denny right in front of him and unfortunately took one risk which got him killed. It was definitely one of the saddest deaths in the show's history.
What I think makes his death even sadder, which from what I'm aware of is something that nobody has spoken of is the fact that ever since it occurred we have seen the 2 Braxton films with a 3rd one out within a week and so far I reckon they have been absolutely incredible and it's a shame that Casey missed out on being able to star in them as I'm sure that if he was still alive then he would've earnt a role for sure. I also really wish his character met Ash, as I can imagine it would've created an interesting storyline as a year before he came into the show, Casey wasn't allowed to visit the prison that Ash and Brax were at.
So it's a bit of a shame really that upon departing, Lincoln thought his character would be boring if he didn't leave because I don't believe that he would have. I do agree in a way that if everything happened after he died that there may not have been too much prominence in the show for him, but I'm sure that it would have still been great if he stayed on for a little longer and had a happy ending with Denny which may have led to him returning for the films.

Apparently a book was in the works/released about the events of Brax and Ricky after their departure. However ever since I first heard about it, I haven't heard of it since?

Was not a fan of her storyline whatsoever

I love Phoebe and Isabella a great actress playing her. I hate Phoebe and Justin though, in my opinion Phoebe and Brody have way more of a connection and need to date.
As much as I'd like to see it, I can't see it realistically happening. I don't think Brody would be keen on the idea that people who run a restaurant together are dating. If they were married or long-term and then decided to open one up then maybe but I just don't think it's the type of thing that Brody would want to do

Kyle was so isolated from everyone who was non-Braxton related. I've always been annoyed that his early interaction/friend-like relationship with Leah and Zac when they all lived together got dropped.
He appeared right at the end of H&A: Revenge!! Can't wait until All or Nothing is out it looks like it's going to be intense.
I am really looking forward to the return of him, it's going to be so good. Roll on Australia Day (Jan 26th)
Yeah I agree, I liked Leah's relationship/friendship with the Braxton's. Died off in 2014 pretty much with there only being one major storyline involving them (Brax saving VJ). Pretty much died off with Zac earlier on after Kyle tried to save the twins
-
I thought there was room to explore a bond between Kyle and Oscar/Evie after they all got kidnapped together by the twins father. Afterall Kyle did risk himself to try save them but nope instead we got Andy bonding with Oscar just because he was dating Hannah. Huge missed opportunity right there for non-Braxton relationships that he could've had.
Yeah, from what I can recall Kyle talked with Oscar a bit afterwards but it would have been sparingly and I remember he told him to calm down when he was throwing chairs around the surf club in the 2015 finale but they really didn't have much to do with each other after Kyle's attempt to save them.
I suppose if Kyle dated Hannah then we may have seen a bond between Kyle and Oscar but I think because Andy was working at the gym and Oscar had that fitness obsession it seemed more logical to pair them both together purely because they both had the gym in common.
Kyle just never seemed to bond with any of the teens, aside from Josh but he lived with him which doesn't really count I guess because they were practically family. Maybe the teens were scared of him possibly? Like he was a fairly busy guy and was working a lot so maybe because of the long shifts and busyness in his life people didn't want to bother him since he had a history of being quite violent towards people. I'm not sure, this is only pure speculation but he was very much solely an adult in the show and had barely anything to do with people younger than him aside from family (Brother Casey, Baby Casey, Josh)
-
Well it must of be 2013 then.
After doing a bit of research on both VJ and Kyle, I think you'll find that it was Oscar who was bonding with VJ and not Kyle. Obviously once VJ was recasted we saw a lot more of him and Oscar together but that's another story. From the sounds of things Kyle and VJ barely bonded at all, unless it was such a very brief one-off.

The way Nicole changed wasn't good for her character. The writers just took her to the destruction path, and put her with one villain after another, before they decided to use her to put her with Aden who was leaving soon.... It felt like they used her to make him look bad, but it made her look even worse. It would have been better to keep her father and develop her as a "normal" teen. I think there have been too many teens loosing their relatives on the show, and it looses its impact. So with Nicole they could have done it differently. If they needed to drop Roman/Conrad of the show because of something we don't know - they should probably have written him out just for work somewhere else, and Nicole could have stayed with someone to finish high school. I wonder if she could have stayed with Irene instead of Miles.
But the Elliot/Rambo stuff, and the Gardy stuff were really terrible, and it felt like they tried to destroy him especially with the Gardy stuff... I think that Roman just should have been a nice man, with darker secret - but the secrets should have been told differently than they were. Secrets don't need to contain violence, murder and over the top storylines.
Unfortunately that's the direction the show has gone in, and like you said it was almost like that was the beginning of what was set to occur with Hugo, Penn and then the Braxtons, then now Morgan's I suppose...
A lot more violent storylines these days

I guess Roman had to leave based on the storyline with Gardy, and the whole shooting thing when he was in the Army. Nicole did change yes after Roman was written off to jail. I think it is interesting having evil characters, bad ones. As we as the good ones, keeps things interesting. I wonder if they would consider asking Conrad back in a role. I guess their is no forseeable away of that happening. Seeing what would be the motive.
Yeah I think when they did the olympic cliffhanger relating to Roman's time in the army with the shooting, the writers felt like the character was too dark afterwards possibly. I'm not sure, I certainly didn't think of it as a great decision considering how prominent Roman was at the time. Nicole definitely changed, but that's what happens to people when their parents aren't around.
I really hope a Wikipedia page is made for him, the only profile his character has is on this site. If someone who knows how to create a Wikipedia page bases the profile off of that then it could work

He wasn't that old either. Conrad Coleby/Taylor was born in 1979, which means that he was only 30 when he was axed. Younger than many other Hollywood travellers are. But I remember there were some comments from Conrad that he was disappointed by the axing, but got quickly over it (he got other roles down under). But I agree with you that he should have stayed, he was one of my favourites too. And he was important for the show, he was a brigde between the older and younger characters. I loved his talk with Colleen for example when Colleen found out that she was the Stewarts' half sister, and he was great with Aden and Nicole.
But Roman Harris was axed to give place to Angelo who just had returned. I thought that was a terrible decision. Roman was just a nice and good character. He wasn't explored at all. They said that he had run his course, and they had taken him too far. Yes, the storyline about Gardy and Roman was over the top, and they suddenly made Roman guilty of murder... But that was Roman's departure storyline, so they had made their decisions before that. And he had certainly not run his course!! We never learned anything about his family, except from Nicole. I think this makes the more significant change in writing style, and not the arrival of the Braxtons. They were just the next step in that direction. Angelo should never have returned after he killed Jack... Oh, yes, I know he didn't mean to, but Angelo was a real mean and horrible cop who did a lot of crimes. Charlie and Kat was/is nothing in comparison. It was like we should just think that Jack was terrible and deserved to die, and all Angelo's crimes was forgotten.
Roman should at least have stayed as long as Nicole did. What they did to her character after he left wasn't good either. I don't think he would have stayed for years and years, but probably for a while. He had some roles after Home and away, but he is a photographer now. I googled hm.
I think the storyline with Elliot played a part in it, maybe they regretted doing it so early possibly, I'm not sure. I didn't mind Angelo, even though he killed Jack I still never disliked his character all that much. I think they should have just kept both in the show in all honesty and created a love triangle between Roman-Charlie-Angelo, and then maybe if they didn't want Roman and Charlie to be with each other then pair Roman up with Leah instead, because I didn't mind them together. But you are right though, Angelo was probably the worst cop ever on the show hence why he got the sack.
I think Roman should've stayed until 2010 or 2011, would have been nice to see him meet the Braxton's when they first arrived. It also would have been cool to see him be there for Nicole when she left high school and be there for Aden when Belle died. He left the bay just before Belle's death and the crazy end to Trey's storyline.
One thing that also annoys me is the fact that there isn't a wikipedia page for Roman, considering at one point he was a "Main" main character it shocks me that his character doesn't have a wikipedia profile. I really hope that it is made one day, he deserves one I believe otherwise it will make his chances of being forgetten higher than other characters.

I don't really know why people debate about this so much, wouldn't the Pippa who was there the clear longest amount of time be the better one? Like I understand that Vanessa Downing was probably an amazing Pippa, but surely Debra is the better one? Sorry for the rant and if this has offended anyone but I am just surprised that people debate this.
I never see anyone compare the current Roo to Justine Clarke or VJ to Felix Dean as much as I see the comparisons between Debra and Vanessa
It was Bevan Lee who suggested Pippa's return to the writers in 2009 - simply as a way to assure the long term fans that just because Sally wasn't around, it didn't mean that Pippa's links to Summer Bay had to be forever severed.
Whilst the idea was a great one to suggest, the execution of it (obviously out of his hands by that time) did end up being a bit disappointing, not least as some of the scenes got cut anyway. Though it was never meant to be a big story-driven return with the other big stories going on, it was just supposed to be a comfort for those who still remembered the Fletcher era.
It could have worked if handled a bit differently, I mean it's realistic for people to just drop in for a few days to catch up with a few old friends with no particular motive/big drama behind it (something which many writers seem to forget) - but on this occasion the spreading of her wisdom around the bay, to near strangers, came across as a bit forced (visiting Belle in rehab for instance).
I guess when it comes down to it, whilst it didn't particularly do much for the character, it didn't ruin her like they have done with other returns in the past.
Of course it didn't take them too long to forget Pippa after that anyway... but I certainly don't think that she should only return in connection with Sally and no-one else. She does have two husbands and a son buried in Summer Bay after all, as well as a few old friends still living there.
Yeah you're right, it was a realistic return. You don't really see that type of thing happen anymore. Family members don't ever return for weddings or funerals anymore. So I suppose it was a nice gesture

They need to bring back the Uni on the show, Roo needs some lecturing storylines. Considering Mason is a recent character and a student it would be perfect to bring back the Uni

There were some exciting parts of 2009, (I personally enjoyed the Trey Palmer storyline) but compared to 2008 it wasn't as fantastic. I think Jack Holden's death had a bigger impact on the show to the viewers than it was meant to have. It was obviously a very sad occurrence but I think people took it too harshly. Hugo Austin was the worst part of that year, I really did not like his character at all. I also didn't think the Walkers were as good in 2009, compared to when they returned. 2009 was probably the worst year for them.
-
It's a real shame that this character left so soon. He moulded into a position on the show which pretty much made one of the "main" main characters and out of all the people in that category (especially in 2008) he was my favourite. I really wish he lasted longer, I'm sure Conrad wanted him to as well because his character was awesome. It's a shame that the writer's explored too much into his dark side so soon otherwise he would definitely have been around for a while. What's good is he wasn't a young or old actor so he could have stayed on for a lot longer than most if he had the choice.

Ever since Maz returned, she seems to be fairly useless. The only real storyline was the Jordan one which sadly lasted 5 minutes. I saw potential in him to become a regular and was gutted that he was just a guest.
Aside from that though, they are showing a lot less of her and her house this year. I think it's partially due to her being away for so long. She returned right when the Morgans and Duncan (which was seemingly an impact guest role) came back so there wasn't much focus on her at all
Hoping for bigger and better things for Maz in 2017! Such an awesome character, would love to see her foster Raffy/Ellie's future boyfriend

This might sound really silly and like a bit of a big call but I would not be surprised if Hunter is written out of the show.
The only storylines that he seems to have lately are with Olivia, like if you think about it his whole life pretty much revolves around her at times. Seeing as Olivia is looking likely to have a thing with Mason then it could spell the end of their relationship for good.
Without Hunter's relationship with Olivia there isn't too much currently left for his character, he has recently got a job at the Bait Shop which is something but he seems like the type of kid that is really unsure of his future to the point where if he gets a job he won't last very long unless he is passionate about it and he doesn't really appear to be passionate about too many things. Like he likes basketball, but it's hardly shown anymore. Just the one on-camera match at the start of the year and other than that he only casually plays it on camera, there has been no real storylines about it.
Another problem is that in terms of family, he's not really very close with them. He seems to be the outsider of the Macguire-Patterson-King family. He doesn't really have a close relationship with any of them other than VJ, Leah and Zac he seems to respect but just isn't as close with them and Evie he almost never talks to, and with her moving out of the House they probably won't have much of an association with each other anymore
So I don't know about Hunter, I just don't really see much potential in his character anymore. What do you guys think?

I think she's a good combination of Natalie and Hannah. She's better than Hannah I believe
