As we touched on before, Neighbours was in transition in 1988. Reg handed the reigns to Don, Kylie's star was soaring, Vivian Gray had had enough as Mrs Mangel due to the backlash from the public and Elaine Smith didn't want to be a series lifer so Daph dies not long after her father. We had Harold and Henry and later Joe for laughs. Also H&A was the shiny new toy and dealt with issues that made Neighbours seem a bit "Toytown" (though Bev's accidental overdosing of Margaret Brown, then later miscarrying after a mugging were anything but)

Plus it was a bit soon and would have likely fell apart ala Chloe/James (The whole Silver medal feeling)

TBF, They're generally 2-star crap (some are harmless fluff and you *do* get a bit of a giggle tbf) and the REAL Xmas Blockbusters are on in Prime Time or at least before on better channels. I usually watch the Lunchtime showing (non-linear, alternative method) or if If time isn't on my side, usually leave it to 5.55-6 after my Neighbours viewing (5:30 traditionalist you see)

Which are invariably crap lol. Then it *is* C5 we're talking about ? (Everything decent they get is either cancelled or lost to other networks) I usually keep the traditionally 5:30 slot for myself though. Force of habit.?
