Haha, so I'm not the only one who remembers the specific date it snowed last year! March 1st, baby! I remember that day as, as sad as this will sound , it was the day that me and my friend (now my girlfriend) were flirting like crazy at my house, with one of my other friends there totally oblivious to the whole thing. Ah, the fun of being an unknown third wheel. That was a great day. I sound like a loser.

Yeah, I was never like that. I kept it well hidden, and only very few people knew about it. Most of my best friends still don't. My ex-girlfriend used to cut all over her arms, it was ridiculous. She really didn't keep it a secret, and it was as if she went out of her way to let people know she self harmed. Yeah, attention cutters are just annoying, and although part of me wants to think she was doing it as a cry for help (she was in a pretty bad way), part of me knows she probably was just doing it for the attention.

Hope you guys don't mind me joining your little clan for a while. I'm bored, and really don't come to this place enough. I'm really sorry about your friend. Is this the first time she's self harmed? As someone who self harmed for many years, I know how bloody hard it is to stop once you've started. I became literally addicted to it, cutting even when I didn't feel the need, and the only reason I stopped was because of my girlfriend. I didn't particularly want her seeing cuts all over me. Sadly, I also know it's impossible to tell someone to stop. But she really needs to as soon as possible.

Honestly? So did I! It was pretty worrying when the upgrade finished and the forum didn't work. I literally had no idea where to start in trying to fix the problem. Re-uploading all the files from scratch seemed to do the trick though. Easier than I thought.

Isn't this one (number 3) yours?

It's not quite finished, as I've got to leave in 5 minutes, but it's almost there. The few small adjustments will be made this evening. If you don't like the dark colour scheme, don't worry, you can switch to a greyscale one. More colour schemes will be rolled out soon, once I'm sure the styleswitcher is working properly. If anyone has any problems with it, please post here.

Humm. That's bizare - especially as every other page on the site has the exact same javascript to power the hidden menubar. What does it have against our homepage?!
-
Previously, the Google ad and Recent News bit were causing me to get a blank screen when I viewed it in IE. I removed them, and problem solved. I've no idea what's causing everyone else to get blank pages. I can't even test, as I can see the site fine in IE. I've taken out the Javascript on the homepage that allowed you to click the arrow under the logo to make the menu disappear (bet half of you didn't know that was even there). People who until today got a blank page when they went to the main website - can you now see the page?
-
Ah, that one was down to me closing the hosting account. Your ISP is obviously taking longer than most to send you across to the new server. It should start working again on its own soon.
-
So does anyone still have the problem where they only see a blank screen when they go directly to the main site?
-
We're moving servers. The search page you described makes me think your ISP has sent you to the new site amazingly fast - it normally takes about 24 hours from when I flick the metaphorical switch, which I did about an hour ago. Try refreshing - if you see a message on the right side of the page saying "Congratuations, you're now viewing the site on our new server." then you're on the new server.
-
Try a) Holding down the CTRL (control) key and pressing F5. or b) Going to http://www.backtothebay.net/indes.shtml Either work? It's working fine for me, and I was getting the blank page in IE before too.

I'm not too sure what was causing the site to show as a blank page in IE, but it's fixed now. Also, the winner of the Most Popular Character 2006 has been announced. http://www.backtothebay.net

The "changes" (don't get excited, they're behind the scenes changes) aren't far enough progressed yet for them to affect anything. I don't know why the site went down. It's online for me now.

Update 'Have the flames been doused' (a featurette on why Alf isn't as popular as he once was) and #5 on our Most Popular list, have been added to the site. http://www.backtothebay.net
-
I added them to the Forum again this morning. We used to have them here until a few months ago - in fact, I only noticed they were no longer there this morning, and added them back.

We continue the countdown to the Most Popular Character, revealing results 20 to 11. We also take a look at the demise of Robbie and Beth Hunter, who have both performed significantly worse in the survey than back in 2004. http://www.backtothebay.net

In today's update, we take a look at the characters who weren't quite popular enough to make our 'Most Popular Character' list. The countdown to #1 continues tomorrow. Also, pictures of the 4th set of 2006 Opening Titles has been added to the site, with the 5th and 6th sets being added over the next couple of days.
-
Haha. Good point. I'll edit it later on today, when I'm back at home.
-
The next set of results of the most popular character ever are now in. We go back a bit and take a look at the characters who didn't quite make the top 50. http://www.backtothebay.net
-
The first part of the 'Most Popular Character 2006' is online, with the results of the 50th to 21st most popular characters now up.
-
Would I be too likely to jinx it all by pointing out that emoticons seem to be working again? EDIT - Ok, Simon can do it for me.
-
Well to make up for it, I've disabled the ability to use Post Icons on future topics. Hopefully that'll keep you happy.

Someone out there does not want these smilies to work! If anyone has any better ideas for text for the 'Tesco Style' star (thanks to whoever described it as that ) feel free to submit them.

That's right It's part of the new skin I'm working on. I only started yesterday, but I'm hoping it won't take too long to get it finished. Though it is me...
