This may take some of you by surprise, especially the longer-term members, but welcome to the new forum! We've upgraded to the latest version of Invision Board, the software that has powered the Back to the Bay Forum since it first launched over a decade ago. Visually, it's quite a change from the previous design, but at its heart it's the same software you've grown to hopefully love. It has a much cleaner, clearer design, and works smoothly across mobile phones, tablets and desktops. The mobile version of the forum is now fully functional, rather than the very limited mobile site we previously had. I'm not going to go into a massive amount of detail on the change, as fundamentally things should work the same as they did previously, and I want to let you discover some of the changes yourself. So have a look around and please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything missing, if you come across any bugs, or if there are any new features you've discovered that you really love! It'll be evolving over time, based on your feedback, and we'll keep you up to date with any changes here. Finally, the theme is the default one that came with the software, and it'll be customised to make it more BTTB-esque over the coming weeks. Enjoy!

Apologies for the downtime this afternoon - I've made a few changes, but I'm not too optimistic that they'll have made any difference. Let me know if you notice any kind of speed improvement, or whether things stay as bad as they have been.

Really sorry that the issues are still ongoing - it's very frustrating for all of us. I've not had much time the past few days to investigate, but am doing all I can to try and find the source of the issue at the moment. The issues are almost certainly going to carry on for a few more days at least, but we'll get there - even if it means having to take the forum offline for a day to move us to a new server. I'll keep you updated!

Unfortunately it seems to be affecting everyone at the moment - Dan removed the online list to see if that would make any difference to the speed, but it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference. I'll speak to the hosts and see if we can find out what's going on. EDIT - I made some changes yesterday, so if anyone who was previously having issues has noticed it getting better, can you please let me know.

I've fixed the logo issue - thanks for pointing it out. Not long until we can update it for 10 years! I can see the dots between the Members text and the number of posts though - are they still missing for everyone else?

It was probably because posts in some forums don't actually contribute towards your post count. I can't remember off the top of my head which ones, but it tends to be the off-topic forums such as the Games Room, and possibly General Chat as well.

Genuinely have no idea what would be causing that... however I've just upgraded us to the latest version of the software, which has had a few patches applied, so maybe it'll help fix the issue. Let me know if it carries on

Hi Apex Forever, Did this happen every time you went to the main page, or just on one occasion? It sounds like a temporary blip with your browser, I've had it happen to me from time to time on various websites, but it seems to right itself once I refresh the page or re-open the browser. Let me know if it happens again, but at the moment I don't think it's an issue with the forum.

Wow, 7 years! What a terrifying thought, it's been a little under a third of my life since this all first began! A big thank you to everyone who's made the site what it is over the years, especially your dedicated team who've made the site better and better in my absence. Here's to 7 more years.

I'd recommend sending a PM to Ryan. Are you just looking to write scripts, or summaries of episodes as well?

Don't worry, it's not a permanent thing. I've had to remove a few of the board features to reduce the load on the server. Once my current billing cycle ends with our hosts, the feature will come back.

To be honest with you, it's probably a fair way off yet. I'm going to be giving all of the sections the half-hearted new look over the next couple of weeks (like the one currently seen in News and Cast), and will then spend a couple of weeks adding graphics, backgrounds, etc... to actually make it look nice. So expect the site to look fairly awful for a while. But rest assured, once it all comes together it'll hopefully look pretty damn good.

It wasn't any of us. To be honest, I've no idea why we sometimes get that error. Theoretically it should happen when the forum is very very busy and the server can't handle the load. But it doesn't seem to be restricted to busy times, and we seemed to cope fine on the day of the season return, which was almost certainly a busier day than yesterday. *shrugs* Stupid board/hosts/whoever.

Wow....the year has gone quicker than I thought.....only seems a couple of weeks ago when we celebrating New Year..... How the...?! I'm sure I didn't type that. *looks around* Who edited my post?!

Other people have complained about the time too, but it's displaying fine for me - this post was made at 12:42 PM and that's the time it's showing up as. Try going to this page and editing your Daylight Savings Time settings and see if that makes any difference.

No, profiles work fine for me. Can you post a screenshot so I can see exactly how wide we're talking? I just switched to Default for a minute. It's so thin! I don't know how I managed to happily use it at that width for so long - everything's so much nicer wider.
