Why thank you I loved that! The fact that she was in doctor mode and being strong yet the second Tony walked in she just broke down crying. It proves how much she depends on him and needs him to be strong for her, which we finally saw yesterday I presume from yesterday's episode that she is going to forgive him? I know she said they had a lot of talking to do but she's willing to try, it proves how much she loves him. Aww

That's what I've noticed too, if Rachel and Tony have such great communication in their relationship then why didn't Tony feel comfortable with sharing with feelings, Rachel saw it was getting to a point where it was affecting his daily life. I believe that their relationship has been like this even before Jack's death, but hey thats just my opinion....that's all I say for now at the risk of having my head biten off. You're entitled to say what you think and I might have agreed with you had Tony confided in somebody else. But the fact is, he wanted to cope with it on his own because like he said last night, he didn't want to burden her with it. When the wedding occured he felt he had moved on and maybe when Angelo came back and all his anger came back he was afraid to admit it to Rachel because everything was perfect between them and he didn't want to ruin things. It's not like he confided in somebody else because he trusted them more than Rachel, he didn't talk to anybody. I think Tony and Rachel have always had great communication, they're always talked through their problems and Rachel particularly has always encouraged him to speak about his feelings (and I actually noticed a role reversal last night when Tony was the one asking her about what she's feeling and begging her to talk to him) which they're usually really good with. But the fact is, Tony lost a child. His son died. It doesn't get any worse than that and I don't think anybody can expect them to have amazing communication when Tony doesn't even understand what he's feeling. I think Rachel pushed him to talk about his feelings at first to much and when she realised she was smothering him, she backed off and instead just let him know that she was there for him and she'd support whatever he chose to do. I think the fact that they're still together and haven't seperated once during this whole ordeal, but rather struggled along and at appropriate times spoke about what was happening proves they are a strong couple and can get through things but obviously it's not perfect, as no relationship is, though if they can get through Tony losing his son they'll be able to get through anything. I loved yesterday's episode between them because it was nice to see Tony have a huge wake up call and realise that the way he's been acting has affected his whole family and that he can get help with what he's feeling. I loved that he ran straight to her when he found out about the baby and comforted her at the hospital as seeing him supporting her is what I've been waiting to see for a long time! It was sweet that at first he didn't want to tell her because he didn't want to worry her after what had just happened but it was good that he admitted it straight away because it showed great communication, that he was willing to open up and deal with his problems He acknowledged Rachel was the reason he has felt able to have a life without Jack and it might take a while but I'm sure they'll be able to work through their problems, as they usually do!

Tony only had his 40th birthday a few years ago so technically he's still meant to be in his 40s, 43 I think...the ages were really messed up in tonight's ep so I'm trying not to think about it Lucas was meant to be the baby, I'm sure they said Kate was pushing Lucas in his pram when she was knocked over by the guy on the motorbike trying to mug her. I think there's meant to be a 13/14 year age gap between Rachel and Tony but after tonight's episode all their ages is anyone's guess! If were going by the actors ages in real life, I think Paul O Brien (Jack) is actually older than Amy Mathews (Rachel)!
-
So either Tony's been seriously aged to about 50 plus or he was a fully trained teacher at 14 How can they get it so wrong?? I did however like hearing Tony talk about the past, we learnt a bit more about Kate and it's interesting how he didn't listen to his pregnant wife back then either To hear him so guilty about missing Jack's birth makes you wonder how he's going to feel when he finds out about Rachel and the baby! Wow Tony has actually lost the plot hasn't he? It's going to be difficult to recover from this I think. Amy did a good job with the feeling ill look today! She made ME feel dizzy! I liked the way she was all tired and breathless when she was talking to Hugo in the morning because it was hinting towards the collapse later on! I really really hope this whole experience is going to put Tony and Rachel's relationship back where it was when they first found out she was pregnant.
-
I agree. I think it's definetely the most consistent friendship in the show. I love how they're always there for each other as well as just having those typical girlie scenes where they talk about guys. I loved the scene where Leah realised she'd kissed Roman when she was drunk and called up Rachel asking to meet her and they were both laughing about it. And like matticus said how Rachel wanted Leah to be the first person to know she was pregnant and they were both jumping up and down screaming about it. Oh and the one Kirsty mentioned, when Leah was crying when Rachel told her she was raped by Henk and then she kept texting her and calling round to her house to check on her. Oh and when Rachel was getting threatening messages left on her car and couldn't face coming out to Jack/Sam's barbecue because she was scared and so Leah sent Roman in to make sure she was ok. Aww.

I'm in two minds with Tony. He's not being physically horrible or rude to her or anything like that, it's more an abandonment issue, the way Rachel's having to ASK to spend time with her husband, the way Tony's not showing ANY excitement about his baby, the way he's choosing to spend all his time with his son's killer instead of his own family and the way he's used the baby and Rachel as an excuse for the way he's acting at the moment (like telling Angelo they need to leave earlier in the morning because Rachel needs him when she's working and pretending he's working out for the baby when it's in fact so that he can take on Angelo.) However I do agree with you that Tony's not doing it intentionally, I don't even think he's realises he's making Rachel feel like that and I wonder if he thinks that by getting rid of Angelo he will be not only getting revenge for Jack but also protecting his new family with Rachel and the baby. It was him saying to Rachel "this baby is a new start for us and I will let nothing stand in the way of that" that makes me think that. I think Tony has every right to feel like this, believe me I do, losing a child is unimaginable, but I think he should be seeking help for it rather than pretending everything's ok and risking murdering a man (which is actually worse than what Angelo did to Jack) and being put in jail, leaving a wife, son and new baby behind, with Rachel having to raise the child by himself. All for what?

Aww Kirsty, I wanted to point out this bit as well like others have because it was so so lovely and reminded me of when Tony first stated to accept Jack's death and noticed Rachel's baby bump for the first time. It feels like Tony's really come full circle. I LOVED your description of Tony getting all panicky trying to rush her to the hospital and Rachel's all chilled knowing she has hours yet Very realistic reaction for Rachel as she's a doctor but it was nice that she opened up to Tony about how scared she was and how he promised he wouldn't leave her The way you wrote the birth was lovely because I don't think we need to hear all the gritty details Just hearing it from Rachel's point of view was nice and then from Tony's to, it was just all such a lovely chapter I'm all choked up haha. Baby girl Tachel sounds soooo cute and it was nice that you acknowledged how Rachel realised she was now a Mum because I think it's tempting for all the focus to be on Tony seeing as he lost a child and we can forget how much Rachel has gone through to have a child. Perfect chapter Please update soon!!!!!!!!!

Disucssion continued from the Tachek spoilers, I think when couples go into the spot light and are popular with fans the couples drift towards drama. So I think once Tachel might be forced into the spotlight. I don't know if there will be constant fluff for that couple, I was reading the article from this weeks Tv week and it says since In all honesty I don't think Tachel ever will be a couple that will be thrust into the spotlight, only because H&A relies on using the teen/young adults to make the headlines and have the older characters either being the supporting storylines or having a few quiet weeks then a big storyline, then quiet weeks etc which I think is the category Tachel fall into. And that's personally fine with me. I'd rather see them go through these real life issues and when a problem comes along, working through it and a little bit of drama of course rather than this constant weekly will they wont they break up fiasco that is thrown in everyone's faces. I may be wrong but hey, that's what I think.
-
Ohhhh exciting, baby Tachel Don't leave us waiting too long
-
Totally agree with you Karen. I think if people had switched on to H&A and saw that scene for the first time they wouldn't have known they were married, just because of the dialogue at the start of that scene. It was weird....as well as "I'm really glad you're making progress with Angelo" You just don't talk to your husband like that...I've noticed it a lot in other couples to. I feel sorry for Rachel just because this issue of Tony not paying her any attention has been going back and forth ever since Jack died. There have been times when he sorted himself out, around the wedding etc then Angelo came back and it set him back again. She's constantly having to ask Tony to spend time with her and even though he's realised he's been abandoning her, like when he agreed to cancel the fishing to spend time with her, his first thought was "you SHOULD be my priority" and then he quickly changed it to "you ARE my priority." It just shows how consumed he is by Angelo at the minute that he's not thinking about anything else. I can understand that people might be initially irritated by Rachel when she talks about the baby but if you think about it logically, she shouldn't have to ask him to do this sort of stuff, it should be something he wants to do. I do truly do believe that he will sort himself out though and go back to being how he was before Jack died. You only have to watch the scenes where he found out about the baby and went to the ultrasound to realise how excited he is about being a Dad again, he's just being so consumed at the minute that it's not showing.
-
I agree that Rachel has been pushing Tony far too much over Jack, I guess it's just because she's worried about him and wants to be able to help with him but she should have given him some space, tried to detach herself from being emotionally involved (near impossible I know.) Actually today's episode was the first time she actually just sat back, made sure he was ok and told him whatever he needed to do to deal with Angelo, she'd support him 100% instead of telling him how he should be dealing with it. She defended him when Alf was having a go and tried to get Martha to calm down and leave Tony alone and then stayed back to make sure he was ok. She was the only one that supported him today while everyone else was having a go at him! I feel bad for her as well, everyone's coming to her with her problems, Martha, Aden! Aww Tachel P.S - Did anyone noticed there were new photos put on Tachel's fridge? There was a wedding pic of Leah, Martha and Rachel, I couldn't tell what the others were though!

Baby's coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hehe how exciting! I can't wait! Another brilliant chapter! I loved how you tied some loose ends up. I'm so glad that Brad managed to knock some sense into Rachel, but I managed to have more sympathy for her in that chapter, the way you explained how she was afraid of talking to Tony about how she felt, because she felt silly after what he's going through losing Jack. And I like how you mentioned Rachel's feelings on losing Jack, the show pretty much forgot he was one of her closest friends. I did wonder whether Rachel would try and blame the baby hormones One of the perks of being pregnant I guess! Tony's such a sweetheart for making up Brad's bed, even though Rachel was pretty mean to him and didn't let him come for coffee lol, I wish Tony on the show would go back to this! I really liked the conversation between Brad and Rachel - It's a shame he's not around anymore, her and Brad were always close. I guess Brad knows a similar pain to what Tony's going through, from losing his wife Emily to cancer so it was good that he was able to show Rachel the other side. I loved that Rachel apologised to Tony and they had a little snuggle Poor poor Martha, she's so lost! You've described it so sensitively and realistic, I really hope someone can stop her before she really hurts herself! Leah and Hugo are cute hehe, nice to see Leah so happy, especially after how she was when you first started the fic. It's interesting the way you've portrayed both Leah and Martha so completely different, after having gone through the same experiences! Please update soon, I want more on baby Tachel
-
I liked Jazz and would be happy for her to come back but not with Tony, she was horrible to him! The way she used him and expected him to be completely happy with her dating him and other men at the same time was just ridiculous. Tony's a family man, he deserves way more than her. There's hope for Tony yet!
-
Totally agree with you Kirsty. I adore Tony but I'm finding it more and more difficult to remember the person Tony is because I'm sure it's not the guy that's being portrayed. Like you Kirsty, I feel like they're repeating the same storylines over and over and to be honest I'm a bit bored of hearing Tony say "I'm sorry Rachel, I know my priorities now, I've got them sorted." Because he never does have them sorted. He keeps making the same mistakes, gets a bit upset and just completely neglects his pregnant wife and goes off on his own, leaving her to look after herself and everything else. I'm having to hold my tongue because I know were not allowed to discuss spoilers here and I know it gets worse. I'm just really hoping that after this storyline is over, Tony actually DOES sort out his priorities and go back to being the lovely man he usually is. I'm hoping will be the shock for him to snap him out of it because if that doesn't, then I don't think anything will. Sort it out Hotdad

Thank you for posting Holden! I agree with Karen, I think interesting is the only real word to describe it, I was shocked to see him smoking, it just didn't seem right His character's a bit different to Tony isn't he??
-
Oops thank you for that Kirsty, I get so carried away sometimes I talk Tachel in Rachel's thread Just as we were talking about it, Tony kept mentioning the baby today and rubbed the bump to, I love seeing him so excited about it I think the writers have been listening to us because we got a Leah/Rachel scene today In fact we got a lot of Rachel today! I love seeing both sides of her character, as a doctor and her personal life to..how she told Tony she's so proud of him, she just seems so much more comfortable in this relationship than she ever was with Kim, it's lovely to see.
-
Awww I was so not expecting all the Tachel fluff today Kisses, cuddles AND Tony rubbing the bump?? Were being spoiled I thought it was soo lovely how Tony kept talking about the baby today, it shows how excited he is about being a daddy again, but unfortunately he can't enjoy it properly because it seems like he has other plans and issues with Angelo still despite denying it, the look he gave when he hugged Rachel I don't believe for a second he's getting fit for the baby but it was sweet to say! I don't think we can complain about Tony not paying attention or looking after Rachel today. The way he told her he's not letting her do the night shifts on her own when the baby comes and how he'd made her toast and fruit salad for lunch The bump looked normal today

When I mean life stages I mean for example a 20 year old and a thirty year old they may have jobs, starting a family but mentall, spirtially, physically they are at different stages. That' what I meant Maybe Rachel kept pushing the issue of having a baby Tony just wanted to give her what she wanted. Just out of curiosity, how do you think they're at different stages of their lives. In what way?? Maybe the difference between a 20 and a 30 year old might cause issues because the 30 year old might want to start a family and the 20 year old isn't ready yet (a lot like Kim and Rachel) but I personally don't think there's an issue with life stages between a 30 and a 43(?) year old, I'm just interested as to why you think that. Unfortunately we never saw the subject of children when it was first discussed with Tachel, we just saw Rachel mention that because they'd agreed they both wanted children, she'd like to start trying soon. I've just seen Tony too excited over the baby to believe he doesn't want it. Both his children don't live with him anymore, it's like Rachel's given him a new start in life. Back to Rachel, I like how close her and Belle are, I think it's nice that Belle's had a friend to support her and make sure she's looking after herself when no-one else seems to be bothering with her. I think Rachel should take some of her own advice though!!
-
No it's not the end of the world but it's sad when a child doesn't have that. I only had a Grandad until I was 5 years old and he passed away and I missed not having him around. He has touched her belly on numerous occassions, when he felt the baby kick and at the wedding he couldn't keep his hands off it! He's just going through a difficult time and actually, I don't think Rachel hardly ever touches it anymore I don't think they're at different life stages at all, they both have their careers, they're building a family and you could see how excited Tony was when he found out she was pregnant and when he saw the baby on screen at the ultrasound. He's just lost his son so it's understandable he'd be a bit distracted. If he didn't want children he wouldn't have had the vasectomy reversed.
-
You described Tony perfectly to his character as on H&A. :-) Loved that sentence, reminded me of one scene, when he found out about Jack, and angry and everything. I vaguely remember him clutching a cushion on the sofa in his house, something about it is familiar. Good little update and I certainly didn't expect the surprise to be about Rachel's father. Wow - Brad turning up is out of blue, looking forward to see what you have got in store! Yes I definetely agree. And when Rachel found out about Bridget and came home, Tony was lying on the couch clutching a pillow to his chin, it's a Tony mannerism, well noticed Kirsty ;) Oh Rachel what are you doing? I'm going to blame her pregnancy hormones Poor Tony was all excited thinking he'd done something she'd be happy with and she goes off on one, it's not like he invited her Dad to their home and forced Rachel to meet him, he only got his phone number! That comment about not noticing she was pregnant was mean but I'm glad she apologised straight away. (although in the real show I think this applies to Tony!) Rachel's going to need to do something to make up for it now! Sorry, I got so absorbed in the storyline I haven't actually commented on your writing skills Kirst, absolutely fantastic chapter as always! It's so well written that I can see both sides of the argument (although I think Rachel way over-reacted) I love that you keep bringing all these past characters back, can't wait to see what Brad's doing there! He's just walked into the middle or an argument that's going to be uncomfortable! Laura (homeandawayxoxo) it's been mentioned a few times that Rachel's a bad cook. There was an episode where she put a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon of curry powder when she made dinner for everyone And also when Rachel cooked Tony a roast he said "that's impressive...for you!" Please update soon Kirsty I love, love, love this fic so much! I hope the fight's resolved soon, I like to see happy Tachel Loved the little bit of mush to start the chapter off
-
Aww Yer I know, poor Tachel ended up having their reception at the hospital! I loved Tachel in today's episode (the little scene they got) It was just so nice to see Tony smiling again and Rachel being happy! They're both quite a kinky couple I liked the little reference from Tony about his age again to, he's always worried about that and it's nice that it's consistent and how Rachel reassured him that he's actually fitter than when they first got together
-
Psychiatry would still involve studying human behaviour, she'd need to know how the mind works in order to diagnose her patients with the right medication. No she's not always right but all doctors on the show are treated as the personal agony aunts/uncles for the other residents and therefore probably come across as being "all-knowing" Ah yes you're right RR1 they did, I forgot about that! It's a shame they never gave an excuse as to why none of her family were at the wedding. I'm definetely with you Kirsty, wanting her Dad back! Poor little Tachel baby wont have any grandparents!
-
I didn't post the last comment to attack anyone or start a fight. I was just saying that when I watch some scenes with Rachel in it it appears to me that she is "worrying" and that worrying can be mistaken as whining. and who's to say that Rachel doesn't "worry", "moan", "complain" the same amount as the other characters on home and away. It's just more noticable to me when Rachel worries about some issue, which I find annoying. I know you didn't I was just writing that as a comment, it wasn't aimed at what you'd said. Rachel has done nothing but worry since January Getting a little tiring now... I've confused myself reading above and don't know the strict difference, all I know is Rachel trained as a doctor and then done a further degree or further training to qualify as a psychiatrist, a doctor who deals with mental health issues (anything from drug addiction, to counselling etc) who can prescribe medication for it. Hope that helps! And thank you John for explaining it, I got totally confused
-
It will be nice to see Rachel do something other than worrying about other people. I'd like a bit more focus on the baby, even just little mentions about hospital appointments or ohh the baby's kicking really hard haha. There's still plenty of time for that though I don't think she whines or moans any more than any of the other female characters on the show, I personally think she's one the least self-centered characters the amount of time she gives up for other people and the way she's putting all of Tony's needs before hers.
-
Hear hear Kirsty update soon!! The wait is too much, I know what's gonna happen to and it's gonna be brilliant
