Time flies doesn't it!! Happy Anniversary to the site.
I came on Board with BTTB in September 04 and although my memory is hazy ( I am an ageing geriatric
) I think I migrated over from another site which closed. I started watching the show when I was teaching. I had a group of semi- illiterate students who had no interest at all in reading and writing. I did find in conversation with them that they all watched some show on TV called Home and Away and were animated in their discussion of it in class each morning. It provided me with an opportunity to encourage them to begin writing episode notes and later summaries. Some even graduated to Fan Fiction.
After I retired in late 1999 I continued to watch the show and eventually went looking for a website to chat with other watchers. I joined the predecessor site I can't recall and eventually found my way to BTTB.
I was approached to be a judge in the Script Writing Competitions along side Coral Drouyn whose work I had always admired. At that point I discovered that, hidden in the dark musty back of the site, there was a staffroom. A world I had never suspected.
I loved the Script Competition and it is one of my great laments that circumstances have meant that they had to be discontinued.
I then became a Feature Contributor and worked, with a number of others, on one of the last departure features on the site the Belle Departure Feature.
The site and Forum keep me interested and have become one of my main recreations as I watch Home and Away and other Australian Drama.
I would like to pay tribute to Dan particularly. It is his passionate dedication to the site and the Forum which keep it going. The amount of work he does is monumental.
I hope that the site lasts at least another ten year and that it and its attached Forum continue to give the same pleasure to fans of the show as in the first ten years.

I think what alexx means is to not have Irene just dishing out advice to random characters.
We should see her develop relationships with other characters and see a trusting relationship form.
We should also see her live her own life and develop as a person - which we all do!
Mustn't have express myself very well. I agree with you about her developing relationships and I think her community role in the diner coupled with her more involved role with "boarders" in her house places her ideally for that.

I've seen original Irene recently and it's hard to believe that the nice woman, today working in the diner was once such a monster. And that monster was exciting to watch. As for Lynne's Irene I have only seen her from 2012-present episodes and she is boring. But after reading in this forum I understand it's a result of neglectance and this Irene could be interesting without being evil.
Lynne's Irene had massive storylines during her 20 year tenure. But in recent years, she has been neglected a lot. Hopefully, Irene will get a big storyline soon and she'll be interesting.
As its previously been said though. It is not big storylines that Irene needs, but a purpose in the show.
I agree with this. I suspect Lynne doesn't want massive continuous storylines but interesting little vignettes which give her chances to interact with characters as a source of advice and support. Her varied life experience makes her ideally suited to that role.
Whilst I agree that she is suited to that role, I also think it's important that they don't only have her do that sort of stuff alone. Otherwise she would just be the same Irene as she is now, but instead of dishing out coffee she'd be dishing out sympathy and advice here and there. They still need to give her a purpose and some character on her own and develop her that way too - like they did up until 2005.
Perhaps that is her purpose.

So Red Ranger does that mean that UK viewers have two breaks each year? One in our Christmas ( Summer ) period and one in your Summer ( July etc. )
If so that does seem absurd as we only have about a 4 week break over Christmas.

*pokes thread*
... So I'm cooking a quality meal for the 'rents today. Starter of mushrooms on homemade bread (pesto swirled), main of stuffed chicken breast (sundried tomatoes, olives & feta with a hint of lemon) with pasta and a homemade red pepper sauce. Dessert is a shop bought trifle though
...
I hope and pray it all tastes good.
Certainly sounds good. I can almost smell it.!!

Ruby God that situation is a mess. I really feel for her. Her heart belongs with April. Poor Romeo he is completly & utterly in love with her. This is gonna be a hard one to break off. Poor Bianca with the whole Katie thing. She must feel so insecure. They lost Katie once it can't happen permanently she has rights stress...Toby Braxton jeese that child is wild, definitly a Braxton. They have their hands full with him. Him & Ella are gonna be trouble when they are older. I love little Noah. Bless him looking out for Charlie such a sweetheart I love him.
Mod Edit. This post contained almost no capital letters for character names or normal punctuation. Both of these are required by Board rules. I have edited to add these. Could you please make an attempt to use Capital letters and punctuation.

Another interesting conversation between Irene and Leah last night about finding some new challenges and being sick of making coffee. I'm a bit intrigued as to where this might be leading.

I would love to see her bitch-mode stemmed right back to the fact that she is angry at herself because she fell into the trap of thinking young love conquers all. Just when I find her to be a bitch she has a scene that gives me a glimmer of hope that they know just what they are doing with this character. I love her moments with Alf and John.
She has a Gypsy edge to her. Is great with the bitchface but deep down their is an insecure little girl trying to play grown ups. And that is where the fault is. I tend to forget that she is only... 15/16?
I agree she's reminiscent of Gypsy and Gypsy was one of my favourite characters. She is an insecure little girl trying to put on a brave front.

Casey is being made to play so many emotions, sad, hurt, angry. He is only trying to add all them and when he can be happy he will.
Lincoln is a "normal" actor.. He can act but he can't act that brilliantly IMO. He tried too hard but that's just my opinion.
I'm not saying he is the greatest actor of all time but between 2011-12 he definitely managed to out-act some of the others (not the older cast) and he could manage different scenes with ease. But this year whenever Casey is supposed to be sad, hurt, angry, happy... it just comes across as pure crazy. It does come across as forced and trying too hard so I am finding myself laughing more at the serious scenes involving Casey.
There's no way he is talented like the older cast. It's a disgrace that Alf, Marilyn, Irene and Roo never get their own storylines. I am fed up of the producers giving the young cast big storylines etc
Lincoln Younes is a young actor. I think it is premature to judge him as "not talented" like the older cast. He does not have the experience of life or the industry that a Ray or Lynne has built up over many years. Not as experienced I would be happy to recognise.

Blowing like crazy. Would blow your dog off the chain.

I thought last night's episode clearly showed the character development of Bianca. She is a multi layered character and becoming more so. Obviously the whole Rocco tragedy has matured her and calmed some of her more volatile traits.
I admired how last night she switched from the stunning, red bikini clad, soon to be River Girl to the responsible senior teacher so quickly when the occasion demanded it. I hope the writers can continue to develop these two aspects of her character in parallel into the future.

Just a reminder to all.
Although the Character Actor Forum is run at Australian pace events that have not yet aired in Australia or have only been announced in Spoilers should not be posted in this Forum.
On rare occasions when spoilers are needed to make sense of a discussion Spoiler Tags should be used.

It would be rather random. It would have to be very well written to tie it in with current events and to introduce the Chloe back story to audience members who have never met her.
I would like to see Irene back in the school bursars job. I thought that worked well.

@#$%^ hot!! I'm with Alexx.

I think that's definitely right RR1.
For me she just seems to be clinging to Casey because she hasn't a relationship with her family or anyone else. I agree with those who think things are moving far too quickly.
It's probably not a popular opinion but I think Sasha was just as much responsible for the failure of her relationship with Casey as he was.

Believe it or not today I watched DR Zhivago. Julie Christie is still awesome and Omar Sharif aint half bad either.
The immortal line:
Question from Political Commissar :" Why do you keep saying there is starvation in Moscow?"
Zhivago: "Because it is so!"

Hot and humid. Thunderstorms to the north of us in the mountains. 30 degrees C 75% humidity. I don't like that.

Repeating years seems standard soap practice for keeping cast members in school for an extra year. I'd like to see something more creative. What about an apprentice chef at the diner or Angelos?

It's great site!! Happy birthday BTTB and may there be many more.

I must say I miss the late night MSN chats with Dan, Karen, Kat and QA etc. We all must have had more time on our hands then!!
And the April Fool's Day pranks. The massive "staged"fight among staff one year. The word substitution prank.
Good days!!
