Goodbye Kate
On 13th December 2007, Home and Away's cast and crew gathered outside Channel Seven's Studio E to watch Kate Ritchie film her final scenes on the show. It was very much a long goodbye for Kate, with her school concert scenes and final scene on the beach being filmed nearly 2 weeks beforehand.
Once her final scene was over, the cast and crew, along with former cast members such as Bec Hewitt and Dennis Coard, aswell as Kate's family, crammed themselves into the Summer Bay House set for a farewell gathering. Cameron Welsh and John Holmes gave speeches and Kate was presented with a huge chocolate cake created by the show's caterer Carol Toohey.
In Kate's emotional farewell speech, she noted the two things that she would miss most about working on the show - Summer Bay House, and her best friend Sally Fletcher.
