So, quite a while now I promised you a brand new look Back to the Bay. The work started in earnest, and most of News, Episodes and many other sections started to show signs of a new, but rather incomplete, look. Then... work just stopped. Life and University took over. So, I'd just like to apologise for leaving the place in a bit of a mess since the start of the year. I now have some time off, meaning time to get this place into shape. Things will continue to look a mess over the coming weeks, possibly even more...
Has it really been 5 years since Back to the Bay opened its doors for the first time?! On Wednesday, 14th January 2004, joint Home and Away and Neighbours website AussieSoap.com shut up shop, and Back to the Bay was formed from its metaphorical ashes. Now, on Wednesday, 14th January 2009, we celebrate five years! And what an eventful five years we've had. To get the negatives out of the way, we've had many troublesome server moves, many board crashes (including one where we lost everything and a potential hacking attempt. But that's quite easily made up for by...
Cathy Godbold, who's portrayal as Leukaemia sufferer Meg Bowman became one of H&A's most memorable storylines, has been battling her own battle with a brain tumour. Cathy, who was diagnosed with the tumour back in May, had the tumour removed immediately in a Melbourne hospital before starting a course of radiotherapy, which she completed on Friday. In an interview with the Sunday Herald Sun, Cathy said that she was determined to get back to good health. "It was a terrible shock to find out I was ill. Because I am young and healthy I have a much better chance of...
Well it's halfway through the year so it's now time to start preparing for pantomime! As always a small group of your favourite Home and Away stars will be heading over to tread the boards around the country. Currently we have the following list of people confirmed: Paul O Brien (Jack Holden) will be starring in Aladdin at the Woodville Hall Theatre in Gravesend from 13th - 20th December 2007, and then at the Majestic Theatre in Retford, Nottinghamshire from 2nd - 9th January 2008. Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart) will be starring alongside Hannah Waterman (EastEnder's Laura Beale) as well...
Welcome to yet another exciting edition of the Back to the Bay editorial. So, what did May bring at Back to the Bay? Well, as promised, we revealed the results of Home and Away's Most Popular Villain. Angie Russell took the lead with time to spare, winning the poll almost 100 points ahead of our second most popular villain, Eve Jacobson It seems Angie's memory is far from forgotten, years after her dramatic exit from the bay. Three of Home and Away's ex-Script Producers (Coral Droun, Daniel Bennett and Bevan Lee) were kind enough to provide their thoughts on our...
Home and Away's main rival, Neighbours, is to move to Five from 2008. The show has aired on the BBC since 1986, but when the rights to air the show went up for negotiation recently, a bidding war broke out between the BBC, ITV and Five. The BBC pulled out after refusing to pay extortionate prices for the show, accusing Neighbours' production company Fremantlemedia of making an "unrealistic price demand". Five have been looking to acquire Neighbours for many years, and it's widely expected that they'll create an "Aussie Hour", airing Neighbours and Home and Away back to back, presumably...
Ada Nicodemou (Leah) celebrated her 30th birthday in style on Sunday, at a star-studded event at Kings Cross nightclub's Sapphire Suite. The event was attended by many of Ada's Home and Away co-stars, as well as her new husband Chrys Xipolitas. However, as the Daily Telegraph reports, it seems that Ada may be showing signs of maturity, opting "not to have her cake and eat it too"....
You wait months for news on Rhett Giles, and suddenly two stories come along at once. Australia's Daily Telegraph reports that Rhett Giles (Paris) came close to being shot while filming for a new Hollywood action movie on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. Giles was involved in a scene in which two actors 'hijacked' a car and drove it down a street, as Giles fired blanks at them. However, police mistook this fictional act of violence for the real thing, and ordered the two actors out of the car as they aimed their weapons at them. Rhett is reported to...
Home and Away may have won its fair share of awards at this year's Logies, but not all the stars were winners. While Mark Furze, Jessica Tovey et al. lost out at this year's awards, Sharni Vinson experienced a different kind of loss - her dress. The Herald Sun reports that Vinson, who plays Cassie on the show, managed to leave her dark blue Amy Taylor gown in a taxi while heading back to Sydney after the star-studded event. "My heart just sank when I saw the car drive away," she is reported as saying. She has so far been...
UK fans have sadly missed their chance, but Australian fans should watch out for Rhett Giles (Paris) in an upcoming episode of 'Lost'. Giles features in an episode airing on Thursday May 17th, playing a policeman in a flashback set in Sydney. Giles had lived in Los Angeles since 2004, and has starred in episodes of Alias and Nip/Tuck....
Five Life is to air 6 special wedding episodes of the show on the 28th May.
A look at what's coming up on Australian screens this week, 14th to 18th May.
After airing episodes every weekday without fail since 2001, Five didn't air an episode of Home and Away on last week's Bank Holiday Monday. Fans speculated whether it was a one-off move to bring the Five Life episodes in line with the Australian episodes, or whether it would become a regular occurence to prevent us from catching up with the Australian episodes. Well, it seems we have our explanation. There is no episode of Home and Away on Five (so presumably no episode on Five Life either) on Monday 28th May. It certainly seems like fans will have to get...
Bobby Morley endured his first week on It Takes Two. How did he perform?
The results of FHM Australia's Sexiest Women in the World 2007 are in, and Home and Away's hottest stars have faired well, making up 6 of the 100 women featured.
It appears that Five Life are to begin airing old episodes of Home and Away from the middle of the 2000 season, the point where five took over from ITV. When five life first launched, it was announced that early episodes of Home and Away would air on the channel. However, the announcement was quickly withdrawn and claimed to be a misprint. Now, it appears that the early episodes are set to actually appear. Five Life's schedule reports that the channel will air two episodes a day, from 10am til 11am, as of Monday 21st May. Our forum members are...
There is no episode of Home and Away on either five or five Life tomorrow, Monday 7th May 2007. It returns in its usual slots on Tuesday evening.
Is it really May already? 1/3 of the year has already passed us by in what feels like no time at all. April brought with it a number of changes to the site, such as a revamped Multimedia section and Features index page. The Multimedia section has been completely cleaned out and sorted through, and now contains a number of older video clips which disappeared from the site over the years. We also fixed many broken links, so if you were having trouble downloading some of the clips from the site, chances are they'll now work as they should. We...
Bobby Morley (Drew) is to appear on the second series of Australia's "It Takes Two" programme. The show pairs up celebrities with professional singers/singing coaches and gets them to perform weekly in order to impress a panel of judges and the general public and avoid elimination. The first series saw Home and Away stars Mark Furze (Ric), Kate Ritchie (Sally) and Judy Nunn (Ailsa) take part, though the series was eventually won by model Erika Heynatz. Bobby will be singing with Jade MacRae. MacRae and her partner Michael Bevan were the fourth couple to be eliminated when the first season...
The start of the 2007 season brought with it a brand new version of Home and Away's famous theme tune, sung by Israel Cannan. However, it was badly received by many of the show's fans, who disliked the theme's new vocal arrangement. Thus, after just three months on the air, the theme tune was re-recorded, with new vocals by 20-year-old actor and musician Luke Dolahenty. The new arrangement hit Australian screens today, and is reminiscent of the original version of the show's theme tune, with many of our forum members noting the similarity between the voices of Mark Williams (singer...
Home and Away star Gyton Grantley (aka James Dalton) aims to take a seat on Virgin Galactic when it launches in 2008. The project, headed by Richard Branson, transports travellers 100km above the earth and allows them to experience weightlessness. However, that's not all. In a bizarre plan of action, he wants you to pay for his flight! He's set up a website, Send Gy To Space, with which he aims to raise the money to pay for the $200,000 ticket. Not all the money goes directly to him though. The website claims that 10% of the ticket cost, and...

Home and Away is finally getting some much deserved promotion on five. Five Life is running a number of trailers promoting the show, featuring interviews with Lynne McGranger, Ray Meagher and Mark Furze. It appears there are at least two variations of the trailer, one featuring just Lynne, and one featuring all three cast members. It's likely there are other versions airing, so keep an eye out for them over the coming weeks. The interviews were shot when Lynne, Ray and Mark were in the UK. Lynne was in the country for a couple of months from November, while Ray...
After finishing her stint on Home and Away last year, Isabel Lucus (Tasha Hunter) is now turning her attention to films. She told News.com.au that although Home and Away was a wonderful learning experience, film and theatre is now her focus for the near future. The actress recently spent time in London, auditioning for a number of films and meeting with numerous high-profile agents, including Kate Winslet's. Will we see Lucas starring in a British film in the near future? Well, she's keeping tight lipped as to the films she auditioned for, so we'll just have to wait and see....
When Kate Ritchie attended Australia's newly re-opened Goodbar nightclub on Wednesday night, little did she know she'd get caught up in a gun drama. The star was just one of many celebrities at the event on Wednesday night, held to celebrate the launch of Converse Product Red. It came to a halt when "20 masked men armed with guns and metal bars stormed the party", reports Sydney Confidential. Several shots were fired at ceilings and fittings, though thankfully there were seemingly no fatalities, and the venue was back open the following evening....

Yes, yes, we've yet another new look. But don't worry, nothing has moved, and the site's as easy to use as ever before. You'll notice our homepage has increased in width. We were starting to have trouble fitting all of our content into the old homepage, and it was starting to get very cluttered and squashed. The extra space has allowed us to fit more in, hopefully without making everything too cluttered. It's not definitely staying, it depends whether you guys like it or not. If you don't, if you find it too wide or still too cluttered, we'll have...

This is totally out of my hands. Chris The Forum's back online. =)...

The forum is in a normal and stable condition again, after our earlier problems. Appologies to anybody affected. It seemed the forum became infected with a virus earlier this week. More details on our brand new look!
Many Australian viewers have recently been wondering what has happened to the show's opening titles and world famous theme tune. Recently, the show has started going straight from the recap to the day's episode, removing the opening titles usually sandwiched in between. Well, Australia's 'The Courier-Mail' reports that this won't be forever. They report that a Seven spokesperson has confirmed that the theme and titles will be brought back "once they get through this run of bad luck on Summer Bay". Apparently, with so much happening at the moment, they need every second of airtime possible, and cutting the opening...

Following the editing of last weeks Seaplane Crash in the UK, many forum members wrote in complaint to 'Five' Member 'ukfanatic' was the first to receive the following response: Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding Home And Away. We can confirm that edits were made to Monday evening's edition of Home And Away. The scenes we edited featured bodies being dragged from the wreckage. It was decided that to broadcast these scenes unedited would be insensitive to those affected by the recent attacks in London. In our experience, broadcasting things that mirror recent atrocities causes widespread offence. We also...
'Five' once again made edits to tonight's UK episode of Home and Away, which featured the aftermath of the Summer Bay Seaplane Crash. You can read a summary of the episode with cuts in this forum topic, thanks to member rcoleman_uk....

If you were watching last night's UK episode of Home and Away carefully, you may have noticed the lack of KFC sponsorship before and after the show. The company appears to have pulled out of sponsoring the show, becoming the second company to do so after BodyForm pulled out in late 2003. KFC begun sponsoring the show exactly a year ago, in July 2004....

'Five' made a small edit to tonight's UK episode of Home and Away. The episode featured a flashback of Kane Phillips' father beating him as a child. In the Australian screening of the episode, just before Kane collapses down onto the rock, we hear Kane's father say: "<something> clean it up. When are you gonna bloody grow up?" However, this line was missing from the UK screening. It's presumed the line was cut due to language, but it has left many members of our Message Board fuming. If an edit was made over such a trivial matter, just how will...

Campus, the new drama from ex-Home and Away Script Producer, Bevan Lee, has had yet another name change. It was soon re-named as 'Campus', but Bevan recently revealed on our Message Board that it was still a working title. Today, the Australian Financial Review revealed the new title for the show, "Headland". In an article about Seven's line up for the second half of 2005, they write: "New local programs for the second half include Last Man Standing, Headland...

Channel Five cut a few seconds from today's UK episode of Home and Away, leaving members of our Message Board rather confused as to why the cut was made. In the first scene of the episode, after Robbie reminded Tasha they'd have to stick to the story Henry told the police, Tasha says 'But it's wrong', in the Aussie airing of the episode Henry then says "Don't worry Tash, do you think I care what those morons think?" Matilda then says that no-one is going to bother the Hunters now she's doing self-defence classes. This cut seems completely un-necessary, with...

It's not too likely you'd have any, but if you do have any bookmarks of pages in the Actor or Character Profiles sections of the website, they'll no longer work. The reason for this is because we've just re-named all of the pages (as we did in news), so they now have fairly easy to understand filenames like "sutherland_dani.shtml" instead of "000214.shtml". Anyway, carry on......

This gives you access to the full list of News Articles since July 2004, as opposed to just the last 20. The Homepage has also had a mini-reshuffle, but as...

Welcome back to Home and Away : Back to the Bay. It's the beginning of yet another new month and we've got lots in store for you! Firstly, sorry for the recent downtime of both Back to the Bay.com and EverySoap.com. BTTB.com's problems were down to Bandwidth - basically, we used the maximum amount we were allowed this month, so we had to wait until the beginning of September before we came back online. EverySoap.com's problems, on the other hand, were for a very good reason. The site has now closed, but has been replaced with a Home and Away-only...
This article, which is from TV Week and was typed up by Darren contains Spoilers. If you don't want to know what happens, switch off now!...
Just a quick note to tell you that 'Campus', the show previously planned to be a Home and Away Spin-Off show, has been re-named. However, it's still entirely possible that ex-Home and Away stars will feature in the show, which is to be aired on Channel 4 in the UK and Network 7 in Australia....

It's also been reported that the rights to air the show in the UK, which is now rumoured to be an hour-long and aired twice a week, have been bought by the UK's 'Channel 4'. This...

Don't worry, it's our final redesign.... ever! Well, for the forcible future at least. Yes, since we launched we've had two re-designs (No, I'm not counting the Homepage redesign which lasted a whole day), but now we've got this one, we're sticking with it! Sure, there'll be the odd tweak here and there (we just can't resist it), but this is the final big change. There'll be no more concentrating on design, our priorities from now on are content, content, content! And trust us, we have plenty of that lined up! This new design has currently hit the News Section...

We've received a number of emails from Home and Away fans wishing to know when Hearts Divided will be released in the UK. We are attempting to get further information off five, and will bring you the latest as soon as we can....
Regular visitors will have noticed our design has changed twice over the past week. Sorry about that, the orange and blue design had to go as it wasn't working very well in older browsers. The first redesign wasn't too popular, so we ditched that within a day. Now, we're left with this new, clean and crisp design you see here. The chances are the design will be changing once more over the next two or three weeks - but then that'll be it. Once we've settled on that design, which will be well thought out, fully tested and fully working,...

It's been revealed that the recently announced Home and Away Spin-off will be named ‘Campus’. The show will be based at a University and will follow the lives of past Summer Bay residents who have moved to the city to further their education. Unfortunately, the Pilot show won't be filmed until the end of this year, so it's not likely to hit our screens until early or mid 2005. More details as we get them....
Seven Network Australia have revealed that they plan to make a Home and Away Spin-off sometime in the future. It's currently unknown what the show will be called, who it will feature or even if it'll be set in Summer Bay. It is yet unknown if five, the channel Home and Away airs on in the UK, will broadcast the program. We'll bring you the latest news on the Spin-off as we get it and maybe you'll see a Back to the...

I've been contacted by a Television Programme researching last year's OzSoap 2003 Convention Fiasco. As you probably know, the convention was due to take place late last year (1st and 2nd December), but was cancelled at the last moment due to lack of funds. Up until now, it would appear nobody who bought tickets to the event has received a full or partial refund. If you're one of the people who haven't, or you have somehow managed to claim either a full or partial refund, please get in contact with us and we'll pass your information onto the Programme. Our...
Home and Away returned to Australian scenes on Monday, 11th January 2004. It brought with it a brand new set of credits. More pictures of the fantastic new credits are available in the Multimedia section of the website, along with a RealMedia Video....
We're in the process of creating a brand new look Back to the Bay to freshen things up, clear out the clutter and add some features as we go.
