Steve Peacocke ‘Wanted’ for new Aussie TV drama

Stephen Peacocke

Steve Peacocke (aka Darryl ‘Brax’ Braxton) is to star in new Australian TV drama ‘Wanted’, his first major role back in Australia after leaving Home and Away at the start of 2015.

Just four months after being dreamt up by New Zealand actress Rebecca Gibney, ‘Wanted’ has been commissioned by Seven and shooting has begun in Brisbane.

The show will follow two strangers who are swept up in a rollercoaster chase across Australia after intervening in a deadly car jacking.

Peacocke will star alongside Gibney, as well as Ryan Corr (Holding The Man, Love Child, Packed To The Rafters), acting veteran Nicholas Bell (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Tangle, Satisfaction, Newstopia) and theatre star Geraldine Hakewill.

Rebecca Gibney, who is both producing and acting in the show, said: “I am beyond excited about the extraordinary team of people we have assembled for WANTED and to be filming in the beautiful state of Queensland is a dream come true.”

Steve starred alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in ‘Hercules‘ in 2014, and is due to appear in Me Before You and Fun House, both currently in post-production and due for release in 2016.

Denny discovers Brax is alive

Speaking of his return to The Daily Telegraph, Stephen said “It is a nice little surprise. It was a good story the producers put to me, so I thought it is a nice way to see everyone for a bit. The show has been so good to me in terms of launching my career, so it is just something I always wanted to do — if there was any way I could be a part of something in the future. It will be an interesting little twist. While Brax is in the Bay it will spice things up a bit, I think.

‘Wanted’ will air next year.
