Rob Mammone struck from Summer Bay for ‘speaking the truth’

Rob Mammone, who currently stars as Sid Walker in Home and Away, has confirmed through Twitter that he has left the show, claiming he ‘sspoke up for the truth too often’s.

The outspoken actor, who has previously criticised the Home and Away writers for their handling of Romeo’ss cancer storyline, responded to a fan who asked if he was to be appearing at a telethon event. He replied that he doubted that Channel 7 would fly him over, considering the network have written out ‘sDr Sid’s:

In the resulting conversation, Mammone revealed that he was written out of the show for speaking ‘sup for the truth too often’s. Earlier this year the actor revealed on Twitter that he and Luke Mitchell re-wrote scenes in an attempt to ‘sget it right’s, even going as far as to comment that ‘sSometimes the writers get it wrong !!!’s.

In April he turned to Twitter to vent his frustration at not being invited to the Logie awards, tweeting:

While the news of Rob Mammone’ss departure has only been picked up this week, a tweet conversation with a fan during the Logie awards actually suggests he had already left the network by the time of the awards, which took place on 7th April:

Mammone initially played Sid Walker in a guest stint in 2009, returning to the show as a regular character in 2010.

It is not currently known how long Sid will continue to grace our screens. Home and Away’ss storylines are typically filmed four months in advance, meaning that if Rob left the cast in April, he is likely to remain on Australian screens until August.
