Sneak Peek – Farewell to a Legend

It’ss the end of an era this week as Australian viewers say goodbye to Summer Bay’ss much-loved busybody Colleen Smart.

Lyn Collingwood first appeared as Colleen way back in Episode 36 of the show (airing on Monday 7th March 1988) and had a number of guest appearances in the first couple of years before Colleen moved to live with her sister in Cairns. She was next seen in a one-off appearance in 1997 before returning as a main cast member in September 1999, where she has remained ever since.

Speaking of her departure, 75 year old Lyn told TV Week “I’sd been there a long time and there are a few other things I’sm interested in doing. I’sm researching New Theatre, which I’sve been involved with for 30-something years, and this frees my time up. You get to a certain age and you don’st know how much longer you’sll be around, quite frankly, and my memory is still quite good – I don’st know how long that’ss going to last!“
