Channel Seven Work Experience

Work Experience programs gives students 15 years and over the opportunity to develop a more informed opinion about their possible career options by enabling them to spend some time in a workplace they have chosen.

Seven offers a one week work experience program across multiple production shows and news programs. If you are interested in organising work experience with us, please send your application along with your school’s Certificate of Currency via email to: workexperience@seven.com.au

How long can I do work experience at Seven?
We take one to three students for work experience every working week of the year. As demand is so high for places in our work experience program, we only offer one-week placements.

What will I actually be doing?
Depending on which department you are working for, you will be expected to perform a number of routine tasks each day. These could include assisting production crew and Assistant Directors, studio/rehearsal observation, internet research, production office duties, observe editing, mail collecting and coffee making.

What are the eligible criteria?
You need to be a high school student in years 10, 11 or 12; or a university, TAFE or private college student who is interested in pursuing a career in the television industry.

Which departments can I do work experience with?
All Saints – University or TAFE students only
Home & Away – All Students
Great Outdoors – University (Media & Communications students) only
News Department – University Journalism students only
Today Tonight – University Journalism students only
Sunrise – University Journalism students only

What should I include in my application letter?
We are inundated with work experience requests every year. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate each request and gaining a place in the program is very competitive. To stand out from the crowd, there are a few things we would like to know from you which should be stated in your application. These are:
- Why is Seven your preferred organisation for work experience?
- Which production show/news & current affair program would you like to work on and why?
- What do you hope to achieve and learn from your work experience program at Seven?
- What are your future goals and ambitions?
- What is your preferred week for work experience?
- What are you currently studying and school/uni you attend?
- Tell us a bit about yourself.

What else should I include with my application?
Students wishing to conduct work experience at Seven will need to submit their school’s Certificate of Currency (insurance policy) along with their application and email it to: workexperience@seven.com.au

How will I know if my application is successful?
If you are successful in obtaining a placement in the work experience program, you will be contacted either by Human Resources or the department you applied to.

Does Seven offer Traineeships or Apprenticeships?
Seven does not offer traineeships or apprenticeships.

Is there anything else I should know?
If you are successful in obtaining a placement, a confirmation letter will be sent out to you detailing addition information about your work experience program.
