Flat Beach

Station Beach Barrenjoey Beach Palm Beach

Description

Named in the show as ‘Flat Beach’, Station Beach (also known as Barrenjoey Beach) runs along the western shore of the Palm Beach peninsula overlooking Pittwater. The Barrenjoey Boathouse & Seaplane Wharf (used as the Pier Diner) stands as the main feature on the beach, which extends up to the base of Barrenjoey Headland where a walking track leads up to the lighthouse.

With careful framing, the northern end of the beach has been used on the show to represent more remote locations in the Summer Bay area only accessible by boat, such as the isolated beach where Amanda Vale ended up when her boat capsized. The house at the bottom of the lighthouse track featured prominently in the 1979 film ‘Tim’, starring Mel Gibson.

At the southern end of the beach, just off Beach Road, lies the storm water drain where the body of Sarah MacKay was found – leading to the opening of the Drop in Centre.
