  1. Angie Russell’s identical cousin ? Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved it but completely bonkers!
  2. Home and Away, even though quite far down 5’s highest rated shows, manages its highest audience share https://www.thinkbox.tv/research/barb-data/top-programmes-report
  3. It’s awful! I didn’t mind him when we had with Jasmine but since she’s left and he’s been lumped with Rose and Xander, he’s been painful!
  4. Have the ratings been published yet for Home and Away’s new afternoon time slot? Can’t find anything Edit: found them. Highest rated episode came in at no 30 on Channel 5’s ratings with 384,000 and a 13% audience share
  5. Will be interesting to see if there has been an increase in ratings this week with Neighbours gone. Will more people tune in as they still crave Aussie drama?
  6. I think the ratings will also go up once Neighbours ends. I have seen quite a few people say on Digital Spy saying they have started watching again as they want to continue watching an Aussie soap. Also, it’s 5*’s highest rated show. Why would they get rid of it?
  7. Five have announced H&A will move to the 1.45pm slot once Neighbours ends.
  8. They must have had an idea this was about to happen when they moved both shows. I can’t see them spending money on marketing H&A or doing a deal for it to air on the same day as Australia. Even if they had any interest in the show, which it does’t seem like they do, Seven’s scheduling is far too erratic. I think they are probably happy with the shows performance on 5* and will leave it plod along on there.
  9. Yes they could move it to Neighbours lunchtime slot and even do more to promote it as that will be a big gap in its lunchtime schedule.
  10. I did think that when I first heard the news but now I don’t think so. I think Five know soaps will now longer bring in the ratings they used to and are probably quite content with H&A being 5*’s highest rated show as it ticks all the boxes for them on there.
  11. I text a friend of mine earlier and said “poor Marilyn” and she replied saying she had 5 on waiting for it to start and there was no sign of it! (She’s isolating so wouldn’t normally watch live) So I’m wondering if a lot of people still don’t know about the time slot change.
  12. That’s actually very true! I see so many comments on articles online saying “I didn’t know that was still on” Nobody in Ireland says that as it’s so popular. To be over 1.5m streams ahead of its next biggest rival on the player is quite impressive for a country with 5 million people! Pre pandemic the cast would tour Ireland and do public appearances in nightclubs, pubs etc and it was quite lucrative for them!
  13. Not technically Channel 5 related, but we have discussed 5 vs RTE in here. RTE have released their most streamed shows of 2021 on RTE player and H&A was number one and massively ahead of Eastenders which was number 2. 1. Home and Away 4.89 million 2. Eastenders 3.52 million 3. Fair City 3.39 million 4. UEFA Cup 2020 2.5 million 5. Line of Duty 2.48 million
  14. I was surprised when I saw the ratings for 5*. It’s quite poor considering the 6pm show is gone. I wonder how many people went to watch at 6 and thought what they hell is going on?! And I definitely think when contracts are up that RTE could get the rights. I think that’s right though, H&A is very successful there and RTE have been consistent with its treatment of the show. It’s clear Five doesn’t care
  15. I think it’s quite possible RTE will pay more than Five next time contract is up so they could regain the rights? I can’t imagine Five will want to pay a large amount again and it’s already in their deal it will air as long as it’s made so maybe RTE will bid more to get the rights. Home and Away still is incredibly successful in Ireland. Pre Covid the cast would come and do nightclub tours. They would charge €20 per person for a meet and greet and there would be thousands of people show up all over the country.
