  1. Her grandson still lives in the Bay so there is always a chance she could come back. Ricky mentioned her recently. I would be surprised if she came back but as long as Casey is around, and to a lesser extent Kyle, there is always a chance.
  2. Steve is far too respectful to say otherwise, regardless of his opinion. I'm sure he loved getting the opportunity to shoot some more action scenes. As for everything else... we will never really know! I could be wrong, but I don't think that ending could have satisfied anyone who has really loved the character. Wrongly convicted of a crime while helping a random new mate find his (at the time) unknown (and now psychotic) sister. And then forced into hiding because of a random grudge a random gaol inmate held against his random friend. After all obstacles that Brax has faced and overcome, it does not feel right that this Gunno guy was his ultimate undoing and the reason he lost everything.
  3. Thanks Candy_Cane. I wanted to try to express just how much I have loved this character but it is always hard to find the words. I feel exactly the same as you about Brax's exit. I see what they were trying to do but it did not work for me. I know that Brax would sacrifice anything for his family but I can't accept that he would let them believe he was dead. If Ash knows the truth, what difference would it make if Kyle and Ricky (and Heath and Cheryl) know too? The rest of the world can still believe he is dead, if that's what he believes is needed, but not his family. The loss of Charlie and then Casey nearly killed him. The grief consumed him and he came close to throwing his life away on both occasions. How could he put Ricky and his family through this pain? Especially after they only just lost Casey. I don't believe he could do that to them! I wish it didn't end this way!
  4. Ricky had her tribute to Brax tonight, so I thought it was a fitting time for me to pay tribute to my beloved all time favourite character. Darryl Braxton. Brax. Family man. River Boy. Leader. Surfer. A man of action. A man of few words. Stubborn and uncompromising. Streetwise and resourceful. Problem solver. Protector. Intensely passionate. Fiercely loyal. I think it was this intensity that drew me to him right from the beginning. He loved deeply and hurt deeply. There was no middle ground with Brax. He was very much ‘All or Nothing.’ I identified with his profound passion and he won my heart! I have always been a lover of stories and storytelling and Brax has been one of those rare characters that has managed to go beyond the story and get under my skin. A one in a million character. There was something about him that sparked my imagination and had me captivated. I grew up watching H&A, however I reached a point a few years ago where I genuinely thought I had outgrown the show. I hadn't watched Home and Away for years before Brax and his band of brothers generated enough curiosity to draw me back in. The River Boys had become a huge talking point within some of my friendship groups as well as sections of the media and I was curious to see what all the fuss was about. I could have never imagined that I would fall in love with these characters the way that I did or that I would develop a loyalty to Home and Away that I had never felt before. It completely took me by surprise. I started tuning in sporadically at the end of 2011 and Brax caught my attention enough that I found myself watching daily from the first episode of the 2012 season. His intensely passionate reaction to Charlie's death had me intrigued, as did Casey's decision to choose Brax over Ruby, and it all grew from there. But it was the Danny Braxton storyline in mid 2012 that took it to the next level for me. Watching Brax fight so desperately to protect Heath and Casey from their psychopathic father - at all costs - despite their attitude and protests, was when Brax really won my heart. And there was no looking back! I didn't go back and watch any of his early River Boy/Charlie days until after this point and maybe that is why I view Brax differently to some. Brax had long left behind his drug/gang days by the time I had fallen for him, so to me they were such a small part of his overall story. I've been reflecting back on Brax's journey and reminiscing. There have been so many highlights. The main highlight for me was unquestionably his relationship with his brothers. So many of the Braxton storylines centred around family loyalty and these were my favourite moments. Both the good times and the bad. So much of Brax's time on the show was spent dealing with family problems and that was how I liked it. The dynamic between the boys was natural, real and so authentic. They played off each other perfectly and I easily became invested in this unconventional family. I take my hat off to whoever made those casting decisions because they struck gold. I loved the relationship that all four of the brothers shared but it was the relationship between Brax and Casey that was by far the most special for me. It is fair to say that I would have never loved Brax the way I do if it wasn't for Casey. I enjoyed seeing Casey's protectiveness of Brax just as much as I enjoyed seeing Brax's protectiveness of Casey. They put the needs and safety of the other over their own time and time again. In the end Casey paid the ultimate price for this loyalty. It felt heartbreakingly inevitable when it finally ended this way. It has been hard for me to watch Brax living in a world without Casey these past few months. Part of Brax has been missing and he has been a shadow of his former self without his little brother by his side. Brax and Casey scenes were always my favourite and they are the ones I will always remember. His relationship with Ricky has also been a highlight. Steve and Bonnie had a very natural chemistry and it is hard to imagine Brax with anyone else. Ricky understood Brax in a way that none of his previous partners could and I think they were made for each other. My heart now aches for Ricky and their son terribly. It did not end the way I hoped it would and I'm not at all satisfied with Brax's exit. In my mind Brax could never put Ricky and Kyle (and Heath and Cheryl) through that grief if it could in any way be avoided. I don't think they did justice to his character but the end does not overshadow all that went before. The one thing they have got right is the selection of Conrad Sewell's beautiful song to be the theme song of Brax's departure. The song is gorgeous and the lyrics so apt. I think a big part of the reason that I have loved Brax so much is because of Stephen Peacocke’s exceptional portrayal of this complex character. He obviously understood Brax and he really brought the character to life. Steve was just as good at portraying the softer side of Brax as he was at portraying the angry, intimidating, hardened-criminal side of Brax. So much of Brax’s intense emotion had to be expressed through action and expression because of Brax’s reluctance to verbalise his feelings and Steve portrayed it all so authentically. I cannot imagine anyone else being able to play this role. And I have come to love Steve just as much as Brax. He comes across as humble and hard-working. A lover of the acting not the fame. He has not forgotten his roots and it is refreshing. The story of Steve's journey to get his first big acting role as Brax has really resonated with me. He spent years chasing his dream and he never gave up or lost heart despite not getting his break until he was nearly 30. His story has inspired me to reflect on my own life and my reluctance to be bold, follow my passions and take the path less travelled. For this I will be forever grateful. It is with a heavy heart that I farewell Brax. It is hard to say goodbye to a character who has brought me so much joy over the past few years. I'm extremely happy for Steve that he is moving on to the next chapter and fulfilling his dream to work in movies but I'm equally sad for myself that I will no longer get to enjoy watching Brax on my screen every week and reflect on his every move with like-minded fans on this board. Brax is irreplaceable for me and he has left a hole that can't be filled. Farewell Brax! I will miss you endlessly!
  5. I'm having trouble finding where I need to go to fix up my signature. Can someone point me in the right direction? Is there any way to get rid of the ad that now appears under the first post on every page?
  6. How could Steve winning the Most Popular Male Actor Logie point to anything other than his obvious popularity? If your Channel7/TV Week/H&A/Logie bias conspiracy theory is true then why didn't any other Home and Away actors win an individual award? How do you account for the fact that a Channel 10 presenter won the Gold Logie, and a Channel 10 actress took out the Most Popular Actress Logie, an award she has won multiple times? The Logies are broadcast on Channel 9 and they would never support anything that favoured Channel 7. They are bitter bitter rivals. As for your point about Neighbours, it is completely irrelevant. I gather from reading this forum that people in the UK still watch Neighbours but the same can not be said for Australia. Most people in Australia probably don't even know that Neighbours is still on air. The little coverage that Neighbours got on Logies night is indicative of the fact it's insignificant in the Australian television landscape these days. Home and Away and Neighbours haven't been genuine rivals for years. Steve wasn't gifted a Logie. His popularity is undeniable. He has won an individual Logie three out the four years he has been on the show. (And I personally think he would have had a clean sweep if only Brax wasn't off screen during the 2014 voting period). I think these awards accurately reflect the impact Brax has had during his time on the show!
  7. I think this recast has ruined the character. It's a shame because I think Leah's coma could have been an emotional storyline but it is completely falling flat because it's hard to feel anything other than annoyance towards this new VJ.
  8. It is so sad watching old Casey scenes now knowing what happens to him in the end. His fierce love and loyalty for Brax got him in trouble many times and ultimately resulted in his death. It feels so unfair!
  9. Lincoln is a total stand out in my opinion. His talent is undeniable and his portrayal of Casey is always so natural.
  10. I hate it when Brax and Casey are divided more than anything so I agree with you to a certain degree but I have to defend Ricky in this scenario. When Adam was manipulating her, she had a clear agenda to separate Brax from his brothers which I was hating. But in the aftermath of Brax's shooting I thought it became clear very quickly that that was Adam's agenda and not hers. She tried to leave Brax numerous times because she didn't want to come between him and his family. She tried to walk away from him at least four or five times. He kept begging her to stay and he eventually got sick of it and gave her an ultimatum - stay or walk out the door and never come back. Brax was adamant. But once Ricky moved in she became more and more guilty seeing the strain her presence had placed on Brax and Casey's relationship and how upset Brax was and she tried to sneak away so he couldn't stop her. Tamara caught her and convinced her to stay. Ricky won me over around this time.
  11. Yes, Brax definitely tried to get Heath to move to the city with him even though he knew Charlie wasn't happy about it. He didn't want to leave him behind. As for the Casey/Ricky situation, that was a tricky one. I agree that Brax could have waited a bit longer before moving Ricky into the house, especially considering how low Casey was at the time. I think that Brax thought that Casey would get over his hatred towards Ricky a lot quicker than he did. He knew that Casey was directing all his anger at the situation with Tamara at Ricky and didn't take it seriously enough. But his tough love approach backfired when Casey moved out. Brax never intended for it to become a choice between the two - he loves them both. Brax was pretty miserable about his divide with Casey that whole time and jumped on every opportunity to get him back to the house.
  12. I think your dislike of Brax may have clouded your memory of these events jodlebirger. KIMF1 is exactly right, Heath was the one who instigated all of the trouble with Jake Pirovic and Brax and Casey were the ones who paid the biggest price. Brax had nothing to do with bringing Jake into their lives. Heath decided to go out alone in the drug trade after Brax walked away. He was unorganised and didn't really know what he was doing and decided to use Jake Pirovic's turf. Brax begged him not to but Heath went ahead anyway. Brax organised the police to step in when he found out Jake's gang were planning to kill Heath and the boys. Heath turned "dog" against Jake to get out of gaol early which again put him in the firing line of Jake's Boys. Brax stepped in (once again) to help Heath and managed to scare Hammer into walking away. Brax begged Heath to lay low but Heath couldn't help himself and went and smashed the car which ignited the war. On top of that, Heath then stole some of Jake's drugs which Tegan gave him to hide. Brax reacted to protect his family. He certainly didn't cause the problem or go looking for trouble. That was Heath! That was not what happened at all! Brax did not know Angelo found the drug crop, he was with Charlie. Heath saw Angelo and hit him on the head with the shovel. Heath called Brax to come and help and when Brax got there, he told Brody to take Angelo away from the site in his car. He did not tell anyone to "finish" the job. Brody took him to hospital but got caught. And no one kidnapped Angelo. So he was not entitled to mourn Charlie's death because Ruby was closer to her than him? Ruby's relationship to Charlie was completely different to Brax's but they both loved her and her death torn them both to pieces. They both dealt with their grief in their own way.
  13. The police would probably have questions for Angelo himself, considering he withheld information and evidence from them regarding Brax and Heath's criminal activity in order to bribe Brax for money. So I don't think he would be wanting to admit to that any time soon! By the time Brax leaves the show it would have been close to four years since he was involved in the drug crops. Why would they want to rehash it again now? Heath has a much more recent history of drug dealing because he continued long after Brax walked away and even that feels like ancient history! Brax's entry storyline has certainly not defined his time on the show in my opinion - it was just one of many examples of the lengths he would go to for his family. Once again I have to disagree. The only Braxton who I believe has been relatively isolated from the community is Kyle, while the rest of the boys have been involved in everything. But if there is one Braxton who has the most current connections to people in Summer Bay it is without a doubt Casey. Heath had quite a bit to do with the Walkers and of course the Scott sisters, but they are all long gone. The only person left who Heath is friendly with outside of his family is Irene. Whereas Casey is linked to just about everyone. On top of his own family he is related to the Barrett boys, works with Andy and Spencer, is dating Denny (who he "stole" off Chris) who lives with Hannah, Evie and Oscar, was mentored by Zac for a period, lived with him and was his original link to the Bay, he dated Sasha and remains friendly with her, he had a thing with Maddy and lived at the Caravan Park which put him in close contact with Roo and Alf, he is very close to John and Jett, I could go on. The only person I can think of with no link to Casey is Sophie.
  14. I tend to agree with Lila. I think he will self destruct after So I think a gaol exit could be on the cards. I think the best we can hope for is that Brax leaves the Bay to be closer to Heath in the city. But I don't know if such an ending would befit a larger than life character like Brax. There is nothing mild about Brax and I would be very surprised if he doesn't go out with a bang!
