Summer Bay High needs a new principal

I think it's time Summer Bay had a new principal. I think Zac is the current principal, not 100% sure as I don't completely follow the current episodes. But if he is, I think I'd prefer someone older and more authoritative to take over as principal; someone like Donald Fisher or Martin Bartlett. Those were the days - when Summer Bay had a strong school principal.

Just watched the scene where Melody confronts Axel in the school corridor about him sexually assaulting her; Martin and Melody were such good characters.

Oh, Martin Bartlett!!! I liked him. He was believable as a principal. But unfortunately he was written as the bad guy when Sally departed, and then it was the Kirsty escort storyline... but they gave us hints that Martin had some family but didn't have any contact with them, and was a lonely man... But they never explored it further. It think that was a shame. Martin Bartlett, Mr. Hyde and Fischer were the kind of principals I grew up with. But I am 45 and I know that time has changed and principals aren't always like that anymore. But they are still supposed to have autorithy even if the autority is  probably different from what it was 30 years ago, but they still need to be good role models and good at their work. And the later principals in Summer bay haven't had that kind of authorithy. Sally was a bit too young in my opinion. I feel they tried to make her older than she really was by giving her teenage foster kids and being a principal, but I think she would have worked better as a mother to younger kids/fosterkids and as a "normal" teacher.

Gina didn't use her authority right. And she felt too cold, at least until Jett arrived. Bianca was a disaster, it was unbelievable that a teacher who had done such mistakes as got involved and married to a drug dealer/earlier drug dealer. Bianca got involved with Heath before he stopped doing crimes. And even if the writers tried hard to make her a good principal in her final months on the show, it wasn't quite believable. The nutter that blew up the school was terrible, and Zac is too weak, both as a character in general and as a principal.

Yep, I really want a good principal again. Someone with authority and also involved more with the students. But then the writers need to focus on the real school storylines again, and not only around the exams and when someone suddenly are dealing drugs at school or starting a fire.... or other crazy stuff like that. I don't think we have seen the good school storylines since 2008 season. There were just a little snaps around the Rosie storyline and Jett's storyline in 2013 but not as it used to be.

Don Fisher will be 72 in February 2017 so it probably too old to be principal now. He is just months older than Alf. But yes Zak needs to go now. Maybe Sally could come back, pigs may fly but a small chance. Or get someone new in.

I'd like to see a strong, older, old-fashioned principal like Donald again. I feel they work better than these young principals like Sally, Zac and Bianca.

I am in the same age bracket as Sally, Bianca and Zac and that may be why I loved shows like H&A and Grange Hill as a teen as the principals were so much like my principals, who were Don Fisher's generation. My high school head was about Fisher's age.
