It seems Summer Bay’s water supply has been spiked with viagra

Stone the flamin’ crows — what’s gotten into the water at Summer Bay?

Sex in hospital elevators, sex in a mechanic workshop, throw-her-down-on-the-bed sex in hotel rooms... Sex, sex, sex.

When did a PG show targeted at families in the 7pm timeslot get so raunchy? Home and Away has become enough to make a grown woman blush.

It’s been quite a dramatic year in the sleepy beachside town.

Just as we were getting over Phoebe’s tragic miscarriage (made worse by the fact she wasn’t sure if Kyle or Ash was the father of her unborn twins), we lived through the emotional roller coaster of schoolgirl Olivia’s unwanted pregnancy followed by an abortion, only to then discover Billie is pregnant after being raped while working at the gym. If that wasn’t distressing enough, she then convinced poor love-struck schoolboy VJ that the baby is his after she seduced him in a desperate bid to find a baby daddy.

The town’s cop Katarina is even in on the act — having rough and rip your clothes off sex with bad boy Ash anywhere and everywhere they can — the local caravan park, his workplace, a hotel room...

And when the pair are blackmailed after raunchy pictures of Kat and Ash emerge showing Kat in her police uniform minus her top — she convinces Ash to break into a house, where he threatens a woman before deleting the offending images from a laptop before her colleagues arrive to collect it as evidence.

Throw in Evelyn who turned to sex with Mason to get over the untimely deaths of her brother and aunt, and you’d think someone had spiked the town’s water supply with Viagra.

But it’s not all sex. There has also been murder, drug dealing, rape, car rebirthing, kidnappings and mental breakdowns

And here I was thinking Home and Away would lose its edge when the Braxton brothers left town.

One colleague said he found it uncomfortable watching with his young daughter, while another friend said she has now banned her children from watch the show because of the risqué storylines.

But Home and Away is no stranger to breaching broadcasting rules with controversial material.

Since 2008 the show has been reclassified to PG after Martha, another policewoman, did pole dancing and had sex on a kitchen table.
It’s a sad state of affairs when simple, wholesome storylines like Milko, Sally’s imaginary friend (who turned out to be her real brother), get replaced with sex, all while we’re trying to eat our dinner.

Credit to the show’s writers though, as it seems viewers can’t get enough of the hotted-up Home and Away. More than one million viewers on average tune in each night — the number even higher when live-streaming, recorded viewing and online downloads are added.

And while some families are switching off, I won’t be.

I know I for one will be rushing home tonight for the latest instalment including Billie’s early labour and whether Matt and Evelyn finally get it on after weeks of teasing viewers.

Sex, it seems, clearly sells.

I don't see a problem, Martha was stripping in 2004. I remember was it 2010, H and A got in hot water, depicting sexual themes when Liam and Martha were getting it on on top of a table . Obviously was it 2008 H and A got in trouble with Charlie and Joey. Ray Meagher has voiced his concerns about the Adult Content that has been part of this show for years now. Point is, H and A has not been shy from controversy in the past. It is not 1995 Home and Away anymore. But this show also never was a Family Drama, always had that edge. Just post 2004 It's been less PG. So my point of view is, if the content is so racy. Maybe 7 need to look at changing the rating. From PG to M. The content it self is not the problem. H and A know it's 2016, and sex sells. The Rating's don't lie, they were at their highest ever with The Braxtons. Now ALOT can dislike this. But it is what it is.
