Dan F Posted February 9, 2009 Report Share Posted February 9, 2009 We know that some you have been wondering when this year's Scriptwriting Competition is going to run. Well wonder no more! The annual BTTB Scriptwriting Competition will be launched this year on Monday 9th March. As in previous years, entrants will be required to write ONE scene which should be able to fit into Home And Away. We will be issuing you with the brief, and telling you what this year’s topic will be when we launch the competition. We know from past years that quite a lot of you may have thought about entering and then at the last minute chickened out. This year we want you to put your toe in the water, we really want to read your stuff, and we want to hear all of your ideas. To help you out and to start you on the road, next week we will publish former Home And Away Script Producer, (and our head judge), Coral Drouyn's very helpful guide to writing a scene so that budding writers can begin thinking about this aspect of the task. We will also publish some helpful writing links. Seven Network's Script Executive, Bevan Lee, has also agreed to answer some questions for us and we are very grateful to him. If you have any questions about writing a scene, or about script writing in general, then we will be opening a thread next week for you to do just that. It does not matter how daft you think your question is, please ask away. Obviously he wont be able to answer every single question and he is an extremely busy man (so don’t go mad), so we will whittle the questions down to the one's most asked – and/or the ones which we think will be most helpful before sending them off to Bevan. Bevan has also very kindly donated two genuine Home and Away scripts as prizes. We have also secured two copies of The Screenplay Workbook, signed and kindly donated by the author Tom Mungovan. There will be other goodies up for grabs – but you will have to enter the competition to be in with a chance of winning them. Watch this space!
