Storyline Review

His women

The first woman we came to know of in Kim's life came in the shape of his ex-girlfriend Brooke. She turned up in the Bay with a baby named Charlie in tow and the revelation that Kim was Charlie's father. This story line went on for several weeks with Kim growing closer and closer to Brooke before she eventually admitted that Charlie was not his child, but part of a ploy by his father Barry, to manipulate him.

Tasha hardly classes as one of Kim's 'women' but she was one of the first to share a kiss with him when he arrived in the Bay. The only problem was that Tasha was in a relationship with Kim's friend Robbie at the time and being the innocent she was, it had to be explained to her that it wasn't done to kiss your boyfriend's best mate. Tasha stayed with Robbie and Kim remained good friends with both of them.

Matilda Hunter had a huge crush on older boy Kim and was convinced he felt the same. She was crushed when she realised that it was not her but older sister Kit who Kim had the hots for. Kim deliberately wound Kit up but only because he found it attractive when she got mad. They eventually became a couple but their romance was short lived when she went on a trip to Paris and failed to return.

Hayley Lawson was both older and grieving when friend Leah tried to set her up with Kim by inviting him along on a helicopter joy ride. The helicopter crashed and whilst stuck out in the bush Kim and Hayley formed a close bond. Back in the Bay and to everyone's surprise, they became a couple. Hayley though was having doubts, she felt guilty about betraying dead husband Noah and also had growing feelings for Scott Hunter. Realising it wasn't working, Hayley and Kim called it a day.

Zoe McAllister was the ditzy nurse who had a crush on Kim and after being encouraged by Hayley to go for it, the two went on a series of dates. Things turned sour though when Kim had a one night stand with Hayley and she fell pregnant, not knowing whether he or Scott was her baby's father. Kim took time out to come to terms with Hayley's pregnancy and so was not around when Zoe was revealed to be the psycotic stalker who had been terrorising the bay. He was naturally devastated on finding out and was comforted once again by Hayley.

With paternity results naming Kim as her baby's father, Kim and Hayley reunited and began to make wedding plans but Hayley was secretly still in love with Scott and had growing doubts. When Hayley finally came clean with Kim he went off the rails and crashed his car, winding up in hospital. It was there that Flynn revealed that Scott was the true father of Baby Noah, leaving Scott and Hayley free to leave the bay for Paris.

Kylie was the girl who Kim turned to next as he began a downward spiral into drink and drugs. Leading him further off the rails he eventually collapsed and Kylie very kindly dumped him at the hospital.

Where he was found by the next of his women, Doctor Rachel Armstrong, who nursed him back to healt and of course fell for him. The only problem was that he was her patient and she was bound by ethics but a really cheesy love song finally won her round and she came clean about their relationship, almost losing her job in the process. With their relationship now on track, Kim and Rachel sailed through a series of problems, seeming increasingly stronger as they overcame each hurdle.

One such hurdle was Charlie, a loner that Kim and Rachel befriended. Charlie isn't a woman, nor was he in a relationship with Kim but he gets a mention here for being completely obsessed with Kim, even to the point of trying to remove Rachel from the equation. Luckily Kim was on hand to rescue her and Kachel moved on to their next hurdle, who appeared in the shape of ex girlfriend Kit.

Having first returned from Paris while Kim was with Hayley, she returned again to the bay for jack and Martha's wedding and in the aftermath of the explosion she and Kim were lost in the bush and 'believing they were going to die' slept together. Kit stuck around long enough to see Kim choose Rachel, Rachel to find out about them but take him back anyway before she left the Bay once more leaving Kim and Rachel to get back on track.

Sailing through another lot of hurdles including Kim finding out he was infertile and numerous rows over children, Kim and Rachel eventually married in the type of ceremony where just about everything went wrong. Their days as happy newly weds were numbered though as Kit returned to the Bay once more, this time heavily pregnant with Kim's child.

The love triangle (or quadrangle, when you add Hugh into the equation) lasted several months and many twists and turns which Coco has explored in more detail. The eventual conclusion was that Kim chose Kit over Rachel and left the Bay to be with her.

His Babies

Throughout his time in the bay it seemed like hardly a day went by where Kim wasn't embroiled in something to do with a baby.

First there was Charlie, son of Kim's ex-Brooke and who Kim was led to believe was his. He attempted to be a family with Brooke and Charlie until she revealed that he wasn't actually Charlie's father at all and she subsequently left the bay, taking Charlie, who Kim had bonded with, with her.

Next there was Noah, born to Hayley Lawson after Kim had had a one-night stand with her. At first Hayley wasn't sure whether the father was Kim or her boyfriend Scott but a paternity test led Kim to believe the baby was his. Once again he attempted to play happy families only for the revelation, after Noah was born, that he was actually Scott's baby. Hayley subsequently left the Bay, taking Noah, who Kim had bonded with, with her.

Kim never believed Baby Joe was his child but having recently been diagnosed as infertile and with wife Rachel increasingly broody Kim did think he was going to be a Dad to Joe when he and Rachel attempted to adopt him. Their plans were shattered though when Joe's real mother turned up to claim her son and in a case of déjà vu, she left the Bay, taking Joe, who Kim had bonded with, with her.

When Kim's ex girlfriend Kit became pregnant with Archie, there was never any doubt that Kim was the father. The problem this time was that he was married to and couldn't have children with Rachel, so his need to be there for Kit's baby formed a wedge in their marriage. After all Kim had been through on the baby front and with the knowledge that he was now infertile it was hardly surprising when, faced with Kit, threatening to take Baby Archie, whom Kim had bonded with, back to the city, Kim chose to go with her, ending his marriage to Rachel.

His friendships

During his time in the Bay Kim seemed to get along with pretty much everyone and towards the end of his time, he seemed to be one of the guys, invited on nights out, card parties and stag dos. For a time he also shared a bachelor pad with Dan Baker and Jack Holden and lived the ultimate lads' dream of beer and parties.

Before all that grown up palaver though came a very innocent and genuine friendship between Kim Robbie Hunter and Tasha Andrews. It was an unlikely friendship; Robbie was the geeky nerd, Tasha the innocent and Kim the tough guy who had been forced to grow up before his time. Their friendship though was a genuine one and weathered many a storm, including Tasha kissing Kim, Robbie having a HIV scare and taking his anger out on everyone. There were lots of comedic moments in their friendship, not least of all when Kim and Robbie went on a weekend break and found themselves in a nudist resort. Their friendship continued for the whole time they were in the Bay and many of our forum members remain convinced to this day that Robbie and Kim secretly were, or should have been, more than good friends.
