Peter and Amanda had a very rocky
relationship, but in the end they both
knew where their hearts truly lie. These
are just some of the many highlights of
their lives whilst they were living in
Summer Bay.
Peter and Amanda formed a close bond
whilst Amanda was helping Peter off
medication which he was taking to help
his injuries heal while he was in
witness protection. It all started when
they were shut in a cupboard one night
by Johnny and his gang. It was obvious
there was something there and it was
only a matter of time before something
was going happen…and it did. Amanda and
Peter kissed but neither was too sure
what it meant.
They came to an agreement that they
would stay away from each other thinking
that would help them overcome their
feelings. They managed to avoid contact
with each other for about a day and it
was soon apparent that the avoidance
thing was going to be short-lived.
Amanda told Peter that she missed him.
But did he feel the same way though?
Well the same afternoon they ended up
kissing again, so I think we can safely
assume he did feel the same way as
Amanda did! After they had kissed, Peter
thought it would be a good idea to keep
their ‘relationship’ a secret. As no one
knew about the two of them, Peter and
Amanda were often on edge that someone
especially Drew would find out about
them. However after working out the
clues, Leah found out that Amanda was
Peter’s mystery girlfriend. Leah told
Peter that she would tell Drew about him
and Amanda, if he didn’t first.
Peter and Amanda then broke the news
to Drew that they were seeing each
other. Drew and Amanda had just broken
up so this wasn’t going to be an easy
situation for him to come to terms with.
Drew ran off to the beach only to be
followed by his dad. Dan also asked
Peter to move out. Drew was so annoyed
at his dad that he even punched him on
the side of the road! Amanda went to
visit Peter in hospital and it was still
obvious that nothing was going to get in
the way of them continuing their
relationship. Things seemed to be going
fairly okay for Peter and Amanda after a
while…their families had just about
accepted their relationship so something
was bound to go wrong sooner or later.
Belle jumped to the wrong conclusion
when she saw Amanda and a mystery guy
hugging at Christmas. Drew told Peter
what Belle saw and confronted Amanda
about it. After an explanation it turned
out that the person that Amanda was with
was someone who gave her a cricket ball
to give to Peter as a Christmas present.
At Colleen’s pageant, Peter and
Amanda invited Dan and Leah over for
dinner, they were reluctant at first but
then agreed to go. Nothing would have
prepared them for Amanda’s sister Kelli
though! Before she arrived their
relationship was going well, they were
happy and were very much in love but all
that was about to change. Kelli’s first
act of revenge against Peter and
Amanda’s relationship was to make it
look as though Amanda was having an
affair by planting some flowers in her
house with a note from ‘Jeremy’. Amanda
said that she didn’t have a clue who he
was, but Peter wasn’t too convinced and
ended up moving out! Any chance of
reconciliation between Peter and Amanda
seemed unbelievable. However it did
happen, thanks to Kelli. Kelli had a
chat with Peter in the diner shortly
after he moved out and told him that if
he really wanted to show Amanda just how
much he loved her he should propose.
Later that night he turned up on
Amanda’s doorstep. The last thing she
expected him to do was propose! Peter
pulled out a ring and asked Amanda to
marry him, and she accepted!
Things couldn’t have been going better
for Peter and Amanda…until Kelli started
to get up to her old tricks again that
is. Her next plan was to get Amanda and
Ethan A.K.A Kelli’s boyfriend to meet.
She did this by getting Ethan to tamper
with her car so that it would brake
down. In due time it did and guess who
was there to fix it?...Ethan. After
fixing the car, Ethan asked Amanda out
on a date. Amanda said that if she
wasn’t already with some one she would
accept but she told him that she was
engaged to someone else. Ethan was
persistent and gave Amanda his phone
number just in case she changed her
mind. Amanda drove off back home and
decided not to tell Peter about Ethan. A
few days later, Kelli suggested that
Peter and Amanda should have an
engagement party. They were both unsure
at first but Kelli managed to persuade
them to have it. Peter and Amanda
arranged for everyone to meet at their
place that night as they had a very
special announcement to make. The guests
arrived and so did the caterers. It
turned out that one of the caterers was
Ethan! Amanda was surprised to see Ethan
there and become weary of him throughout
the evening.
The time came for Peter to announce
the news of his engagement to Amanda.
Belle and Drew were understandably
shocked and Dan and Leah questioned
Peter whether he was sure about the
decision he had made. But he said he was
sure he and Amanda had made the right
decision. Ethan let slip to Peter that
he fixed Amanda’s car before and
apologized to Amanda as she didn’t want
him to know. A few days later, Ethan
returned and told Peter that he was very
lucky to be with Amanda. Peter didn’t
have a clue as to what he was implying
and asked Ethan what he meant by that
comment. Ethan then explained that he
asked her out on a date and was
surprised that she hadn’t told him about
it already. Peter confronted Amanda
about her not telling him that Ethan had
asked her out on a date. They ended up
arguing and decided to call off the
engagement completely. Amanda went to
the Surf club to try and clear her head
and started to talk to Ethan who was
also there. While Amanda wasn’t with
him, Ethan spiked Amanda’s drink and
they ended up together! The next morning
Amanda returned home pretending like
nothing had happened. As far as she was
concerned she would move on and try and
forget about it but things weren’t going
to work out like that as Ethan took
pictures of them the night before. In
true ‘Vale’ style Amanda had got herself
in a sticky situation…made even stickier
by the fact that Ethan wanted Amanda to
steel drugs from the hospital otherwise
Peter would get to see the photos. She
agreed to do it and managed to get the
keys to enter the staff room. After that
she stole the morphine and gave it to
Ethan. Amanda thought that was the end
of Ethan’s blackmailing but it wasn’t,
he needed her to sell the morphine on.
They met up a while later and Amanda
took the drugs home with her. She tried
her best to hide them under the kitchen
sink but it wasn’t enough to stop Peter
getting suspicious. Eventually he gave
up trying to work out was wrong and
asked Amanda himself. Kelli stepped in
and told Peter that Amanda just had to
hide his wedding present under the sink.
Peter believed her and as far as he was
concerned that was the end of that. But
for Amanda it wasn’t. Ethan called
Amanda and told her to meet up with him
to sell the morphine on to a buyer. She
went along with Kelli who tried to stay
undercover by hiding in Amanda’s car. It
didn’t work though as Ethan sussed what
was going on. Ethan ran over to Amanda’s
car to see what was going on but before
he could do so Amanda gave chase and
kicked him in the leg! Ethan caught up
with her and ended up being dragged
along the road by hanging on to Amanda’s
car. Ethan fell to the ground as Amanda
hurried off. She stopped the car and got
Kelli to check if he was okay. It was
all part of Kelli’s plan so of course he
was fine but Kelli needed Amanda to
believe that he was dead. Kelli ran back
to the car and told Amanda that she
couldn’t find a pulse. Amanda was in
complete shock that she had just killed
someone…or so she thought. Kelli told
her they should leave the body there.
Amanda wasn’t happy about it but
eventually agreed. They arrived back
home and pretended everything was fine.
Peter had arranged a wedding planner to
help organize things for the wedding.
Peter wasn’t exactly bowled over by
Amanda’s excitement and asked her what
was wrong. They talked things over and
Peter assured Amanda that with the help
of the wedding planner, things wouldn’t
be so stressful in the lead up to the
wedding. Things were going quite well
for a while until Kelli planned the next
thing in a ploy to destroy Peter and
Amanda’s relationship.
That next plan was to make Amanda
think that Ethan was still alive by
having him ‘pop-up’ in various places!
Ethan first showed up outside The Diner
as Amanda was walking out to her car.
She was shocked at who she saw. Kelli
came along and asked her what all the
fuss was about and she told her that she
saw Ethan. Kelli thought she was just
feeling guilty for what she had
supposedly done. Later the same day
after another sighting of Ethan at her
place, Amanda told Kelli that she was
going to turn herself into the police as
it wasn’t fair on her or Peter. Kelli
tried to reason with her by saying that
if she went to the cops she would most
likely go down with her as she was
responsible for hiding Ethan’s body.
Amanda agreed to keep quite even though
she wasn’t happy about it. Amanda got
home and it was obvious to Peter that
she was once again distracted by
something. After a few moments to think,
Amanda plucked up the courage to tell
him but not before his phone rang. Peter
was on call and had to go.
Belle came back to find Amanda crying
and asked her what was going on. Belle
and Amanda sat down as Kelli came in,
and told Amanda not to tell her about
Ethan. Belle said she wouldn’t forget
about it and that she wanted to know
what had happened. Amanda was just about
to tell her when Kelli interrupted and
told her herself. Belle was shocked at
what Amanda had done but promised that
she wouldn’t say anything to Peter.
After practically sending Belle out of
the door, Kelli and Amanda ended up
having a big feud. Later, Amanda decided
to tell Peter the truth. She went to the
police station to wait for him. Kelli
found a note from Amanda saying where
she was going. She went to see her at
the police station and cried her heart
out to Amanda convincing her that she
shouldn't tell Peter that she ‘killed’
Ethan. They got home and Amanda tried to
relax and forget about Ethan and
everything that had happened to her
recently. A few days later and Ethan was
pulled over by Peter for speeding.
Amanda was at the police station waiting
for Peter when Ethan was brought in for
questioning. She got the fright of her
life when she realized that he really
was alive and that he was out to get
her!
Ethan blackmailed Amanda by asking
her to give him $75, 000 dollars or
Peter would get the photos. Amanda told
him that she didn’t have that kind of
money so Kelli and Amanda went to the
motel Ethan was staying at to burn the
photos and get rid of the evidence!
Amanda thought that after that
everything was over…she could forget
about Ethan and think about the wedding.
But that wasn’t going to be the case as
Kitty Vale, Kelli and Amanda’s mother,
showed up. Kitty had come back to Summer
Bay to be at Peter and Amanda’s wedding.
Kitty found out about Kelli’s plans for
her sister and threatened to tell
Amanda. Kitty had money problems and
needed a loan so Kelli blackmailed her
and gave her the money she needed on the
promise that she wouldn’t tell Amanda a
thing. She agreed and left Summer Bay.
The day of the wedding arrived and Peter
and Amanda couldn’t have been
happier…both of them oblivious as to
what would happen later that day. Amanda
walked down the isle to marry Peter.
Literally minutes after the ceremony had
finished, Ethan turned up supposedly
delivering a present to ‘the happy
couple’ as he called them. Everyone was
told to look under their seats where
they found the photos of Amanda and
Ethan together. Peter was shocked and
walked out of the wedding leaving Amanda
to run after him.
She caught up with him and told him
that she loved him but it wasn’t enough
for Peter, he thought he could trust her
but he felt that his trust had been
betrayed. Whilst alone, Peter took off
his wedding ring signalling the end of
their very short marriage.
Amanda found the best way to cope with
the pain of losing Peter was to start
drinking. Ryan was being teased about
his mum by some friends at a party and
wanted to be picked up by Amanda. She
went to pick him up but didn’t get there
as she was involved in a car accident
with another car, which Peter was
driving! Amanda was rushed to hospital
where Peter was starting to feel guilty
that he was the one who caused the
accident as he had his headlights on
full beam causing Amanda to lose control
of the car. Peter went into see Amanda
and was shocked to find out that she had
been drinking before she went to pick up
Ryan. After causing even more havoc for
Amanda after that, things started to
settle down again. Peter dropped Ryan
around to Amanda’s place and stayed for
a chat. That was quickly interrupted by
Peter getting a phone call though which
he had to attend to. Amanda went to
Dan’s place to drop Ryan off and found
Peter there. They got talking and Amanda
asked Peter whether he thought they
would get back together again. Peter
told her that he still cared about her
but he just didn’t trust her enough to
go back into a relationship.
Later that day Amanda made the
decision to leave Summer Bay as she had
lost everything that meant something to
her especially Peter. Kelli was taken a
back at her sister’s decision and needed
to move on with her next plan as soon as
possible. After accidentally drugging
Belle, Kelli ran Amanda off the road and
poured petrol over her car leaving it to
explode. Amanda survived and was rushed
to hospital by Peter who found her.
After being checked out Amanda and Peter
talked. Peter told her that Ethan gave a
statement about what him and Kelli had
planned for Amanda. She couldn’t believe
that her sister could hate her so much
and hold on to so much anger and
bitterness. Peter admitted to being
guilty of that too.
A few days after coming home from the
hospital and Peter went to see Amanda as
he had been giving her mixed messages as
to the way he felt about her. Peter
explained that he was afraid of getting
hurt but also told her that he still
loved her. A few moments later they
kissed. Afterwards Amanda told Peter
that she didn’t think that they would
ever be together again. Later on Amanda
started to feel that maybe Peter wasn’t
happy with them being back together but
didn’t initially say anything. It was
only after Dan didn’t say anything to
Amanda about her and Peter that she
wanted to speak to him again. After
finding out how Peter truly felt she
spoke to him and told him that she felt
they had rushed things. Amanda was
testing Peter though to see how he
really felt. Peter admitted that he
wasn’t ready to be in a relationship
with her again and so cooled things off.
Amanda was distraught and told Belle
what had happened. Belle then went to
see Peter to tell him what he had done
to Amanda. Once again Peter went to
visit Amanda and told her that he wished
she had been honest about how she felt
before. Amanda asked Peter if he still
loved her. He replied yes but said that
he didn’t think he could handle being
hurt again. He left, leaving Amanda in
tears.
She still wanted to leave Summer Bay
so she went ahead with her plans and got
packing. Peter told her that he hoped
she would find happiness, Amanda told
him that she hoped he would too. Peter
turned up at Amanda’s leaving
party…after she had left for the city.
Both Dan and Drew tried to talk Peter
into going after her but they didn’t
need to as he went himself. He caught up
with her in a bar in the city. Amanda
couldn’t believe it when she saw Peter.
He asked her if he thought they could
forgive each other and Amanda replied
‘’I think we can’’ before they kissed
and looked ahead to their new life
together.
