Scripts - Episode 3486

SUMMER BAY HIGH

JADE, KIRSTY, NICK and SEB walk along.

JADE

Because it was my brilliant idea to do the video I think we should all pay for my milkshake.

KIRSTY

No way Jade. It was Seb’s genius idea to film it so therefore we should buy him a milkshake.

SEB

I don’t know about genius. Trapping is really something I’m proud of.

KIRSTY

Hey, I would be. Look, we had to clear his name somehow.

SEB

Yeah, I suppose you’re right.

KIRSTY

Of course I’m right.

JADE

Hey, you’re supposed to be excited.

NICK

Aw, yeah. I am. I guess it’s just it’s taken me so long to prove that I’m right, now that I have I guess it’s a bit of a downer.

JADE

Are you sure that’s it?

NICK

Yeah.

JADE

What did Angie say to you when she left?

NICK

Aw, nothing. Nothing I couldn’t handle. Come on. Race you there.

ANGIE’S HOUSE

ANGIE is there. DYLAN walks in.

ANGIE

If you’ve come to gloat, get it over with.

DYLAN

I’ve come because you are my mum. I can’t stay long. I’ve got a shift at the kiosk. I thought you might need me.

ANGIE

I should have known you’d understand. The Sutherlands, Nick, Seb. There are trying to destroy me and my and career and everything I have worked for and you. I was so afraid I’d lost you.

DYLAN

Don’t cry. It’ll be OK. It’ll be OK.

SUMMER BAY HOUSE

DANI, KIRSTY and JADE walk into the kitchen. MAX is there.

KIRSTY

Its so good knowing she’s not going to be there ever again.

DANI

She’s knows you were involved.

JADE

Who cares? She can’t hurt us. Not now everyone knows what she did.

DANI

I hope you’re right.

MAX

What about Dylan? Is he still going to be my cousin?

KIRSTY

Yeah, Max. Of course he’s still going to be our cousin. We didn’t do this to get at him. We just did it to help Nick.

JADE

What if Angie leaves? He wouldn’t go with her, would he?

MAX

It’s your fault if he does.

DANI

Max, that doesn’t help. Come on.

DYLAN walks in.

DYLAN

Hey.

KIRSTY

Hi.

JADE

Are you still speaking to us?

KIRSTY

I just wish you’d found a way of doing it that wasn’t so humiliating.

DANI

Dylan she would have got out of it if they hadn’t done it publicly. I’m sorry, but you know what she’s like.

JADE

We never wanted to make things bad for you. You’re family.

MAX

And families the only thing that matters, right.

DYLAN

Yeah. Yeah, it probably is.

SUMMER BAY HIGH

SALLY and IRENE are walking along.

IRENE

Sal, Paris has just been on the phone to the department.

SALLY

They’re letting Nick back.

IRENE

About flippin’ time.

SALLY

Irene, I’m so pleased for you and for Nick.

IRENE

Thanks love, and look, thank you so much for all the help you gave the kids.

SALLY

Aw, I didn’t do anything. Not really.

IRENE

Well, you didn’t stand in there way and my book that amounts to the same thing.

SALLY

I’m glad it’s over.

IRENE

Well, not quite yet. I want to talk to Nick’s solicitor about, you know, clearing his name and if we’re lucky we might get Angela Russell charged with perjury.

SALLY

What about you and Paris?

IRENE

Sorry.

SALLY

I’m wondering if what’s happened might clear the air between the two of you.

IRENE

Look, I haven’t even thought about that. Right now, the only thing on my mind is getting Angela Russell out of Summer Bay for good.

THE SURF CLUB

RHYS and DYLAN are there.

RHYS

If you don’t want to work today, you know, after what’s happened, that’s fine by me.

DYLAN

No, I’d rather be busy.

RHYS

Fair enough.

DYLAN

She’s, em, she’s feeling pretty lousy you know.

RHYS

Yeah, well.

DYLAN

I mean, I know it’s her own fault, but I just keep thinking that none of this would  have happened if she hadn’t fallen for you all those years ago.

RHYS

No.

DYLAN

I mean, I’m not blaming you or anything. I’m just trying to make sense of it. I think I must have been then when you chose Shelley that she lost her way and stayed lost.

RHYS

Yeah, well, you might be right. You know, when we were kids she never really dealt with own dad leaving.

DYLAN

I know, she’s always too angry to talk about it. I think, maybe it’s up to me to help her find herself again.

RHYS

She can do that mate.

DYLAN

But she won’t. She’ll just keep blaming everyone else. I think I’m the only hope she has left.

RHYS

So, if she left you’d go with her?

DYLAN

I don’t know.

RHYS

Mate, look, I know you’ll make the right decision, but, em, whatever happens I really want you to understand that you’re part of this family. Just remember that.

THE CARAVAN PARK

MIRA and SCOTT are there.

MIRA

You got anything else you want me to wash.

SCOTT

Look, you really don’t have to do this.

DANI watches them.

MIRA

That’s OK. I’m happy to.

MIRA walks away. DANI walks over to SCOTT.

SCOTT

Hey, I was just heading over to the shower block to do some work. Do you want to come over with me?

DANI

I’ve got stuff to do. How is it staying in the van?

SCOTT

Aw, it’s a bit cramped, but we’re all mate, so it’s not too bad. Anyway, I better get on with it. I’ll see you later.

DANI

See you.

MIRA walks up to DANI.

MIRA

Hello.

DANI

Hey,

MIRA

Nice to see you again. Are you looking Scott?

DANI

I actually came to ask you something. Em, it’s a bit personal. You don’t mind?

MIRA

I won’t mind until you tell me.

DANI

Do you love Scott?

MIRA

He’s the guy who rescued me at the time in my life I was really desperate. Of course I love him.

DANI

Yeah, but wasn’t the marriage for convenience?

MIRA

Yeah, but it was his idea, not mine. He talked me into it.

DANI

I didn’t know that.

MIRA

He’s like that. Always into causes at Uni. Refugees, asylum seekers. Do you know I have a daughter?

DANI

I didn’t.

MIRA

He’s a good guy Dani. He knew Martha and I were struggling. He married me because he wanted to help. Me, I’d have married him anyway. Does that answer your question?

DANI

Yes. He doesn’t.

MIRA

He doesn’t love me. No, he doesn’t. Not in the same way, but whatever happens, I don’t want him getting into another marriage with the wrong girl.

THE BEACH HOUSE

IRENE is on the phone. NICK is in the kitchen.

IRENE

Thank you so much.

Yep, I’ll tell him.

IRENE puts the phone down.

IRENE

Yes. Right. Strictly speaking the tape isn’t admissible, but the legal eagle reckons he’ll have no troubles overturning your conviction.

NICK

What about Angie?

IRENE

Well she could be up for perverting the course of justice. We’ll just have to wait and see.

NICK

Right.

JESSE walks in.

JESSE

Guess what? Committee sided with me. You’re looking at a man that still has a job.

IRENE

And you’re looking at a fellow who just got back into Summer Bay High.

JESSE

What? How did that happen?

IRENE

The kids trapped Angie into incriminating herself on video.

JESSE

Woah. I guess she’s not feeling too happy.

IRENE

I hope you’re not feeling sorry for her.

JESSE

No. I couldn’t be happier. I think the sooner she’s out of here the better. I just hope she goes quietly.

NICK

I’m going to have a shower.

NICK walks away.

JESSE

Is he OK?

IRENE

Yeah, maybe. I hope so.

THE PALACE

HAYLEY is hoovering. There is a knock on the door. JOSH walks in. She turns the hoover off.

JOSH

Hi.

HAYLEY

Hi. What?

JOSH

I know you’re still angry at me about setting up the exhibition. I just thought I’d come over and work things out.

HAYLEY

Yeah. Well, how do you think I feel.

JOSH

I was hoping you wouldn’t find out.

HAYLEY

Not a good answer.

JOSH

Yeah, I know, but Hayley, you’re a really talented artist and you deserve your own exhibition. It’s just I shouldn’t have done anything until I’d spoken to you first. I’m sorry.

HAYLEY

All right, you’re forgiven.

JOSH

Does this mean we can work things out?

HAYLEY

Josh, it’s got nothing to do with the exhibition. I just think we’d end up making each other miserable.

JOSH

I can’t believe you’re doing this. You’re basing your decision on some stupid dream Alf had.

HAYLEY

Josh, if I loved you what Alf thinks he saw wouldn’t count, but I don’t. I don’t love you Josh. I don’t love you now and I won’t love you tomorrow or the next day.

THE CARAVAN PARK

SCOTT is working in the caravan park. DYLAN walks up to him.

SCOTT

Hey, how’s it going? Look, I’m really sorry, but I think I’m about make your day even worse.

DYLAN

You can save it.

SCOTT

I just wanted to warn you that the fire investigators have discovered arson.

DYLAN

Give it to me then.

SCOTT

Well the police want to know if I can think of anyone might have a motive. The only person I could think of was Angie.

DYLAN

All you did was tell the truth. It’s not like you proved anything.

SCOTT

Figured out what you’re going to do?

DYLAN

Stick by her I guess. Same as I usually do.

SCOTT

Fair enough, but you’ve got a life of your own, you know.

DYLAN

Yeah. I’ll see you later.

DYLAN walks away.

THE BEACHSIDE DINER

SALLY and FLYNN sit at a table.

SALLY

I almost felt sorry for her. It was painful watching someone be so totally humiliated and when she stopped and whispered in Nick’s ear.

FLYNN

Creepy.

SALLY

It made my blood run cold.

FLYNN

Well it’s no excuse, but we both know she’s not well.

SALLY

Yeah, you’re right, it is no excuse.

FLYNN

You know how I am really worried about?

SALLY

Dylan.

FLYNN

That poor kids been pulled in every which direction.

SALLY

And you’d liked to do something about it.

FLYNN

I’d like to try, but first I’d like to speak to Angie just to see where her heads at.

SALLY

Do you have to?

FLYNN

Do you mind?

SALLY

Yes. Not really. Go on. Hurry up. I’ll get the bill.

FLYNN

See you at home.

SALLY

See you.

FLYNN walks away.

ANGIE’S HOUSE

ANGIE is packing. There is a knock on the door. She opens it. FLYNN is there.

ANGIE

Let me guess. You’ve came to be supportive.

FLYNN

Well, I’m worried about you, yeah. If there’s anything you want to talk about, I’d like that.

ANGIE

And if I don’t.

FLYNN

Well I’m also worried about how this will affect Dylan.

ANGIE

That’s very thoughtful of you, but Dylan and I can sort out our own problems.

FLYNN

So, have you got any plans?

ANGIE

None that I want to share with you so if you’d excuse me.

ANGIE goes to shut the door.

ANGIE

Oh, and if you’re reporting back to Sally, make sure that you let her know that I’m not nearly as heartbroken as she’d like me to be.

FLYNN

Sally doesn’t actually think like that Angie.

ANGIE shuts the door.

THE BEACH HOUSE

IRENE and TREVOR are standing at the door.

TREVOR

Your assignment, delivered to your door since you weren’t at Uni to collect it.

IRENE

Aw, you are an angel. Thank you so much. I didn’t think you’d ever speak to me again.

TREVOR

Aw, nonsense. You don’t get rid of me that easily.

IRENE

Oh, come in, unless you’re on your way somewhere else.

TREVOR

No, just home.

IRENE

Aw, look, I tell you what. Why don’t you stay for dinner?

TREVOR

Aw, yeah, yeah. I’d love to.

JADE and NICK are kissing on NICK’S bed.

NICK

This is going to be so good to have time for you and me again.

JADE

What if Irene comes in again?

NICK

Who cares?

JADE

I do. You do. We both do. Anyway, how do I know you wouldn’t have found another girlfriend at Yabbie Creek.

NICK

Hey, I wouldn’t have.

JADE

You might have and I could have been just a memory.

NICK

No way.

ANGIE’S HOUSE

ANGIE is there. DYLAN walks in.

DYLAN

Hello. Special delivery. Ham and pineapple for me and the lot for you because I couldn’t decide and Casablanca, because I thought you might be in a black and white mood.

ANGIE

Perfect. Something to cry over which isn’t my life. Did I ever tell you what a sweetie you are?

DYLAN

Yeah, once or twice.

ANGIE

You and me, pigging out over a video. It’s just like old times.

DYLAN

Yeah.

ANGIE

Can I have the crust of your pizza?

DYLAN

I don’t know. We might have to negotiate.

ANGIE

I’ll take that as yes.

SUMMER BAY HOUSE

KIRSTY and SEB are in the kitchen.

SEB

I get the feeling we’re really going to get it tomorrow?

KIRSTY

Why?

SEB

It’s been too easy. Paris isn’t going to let us get off completely.

KIRSTY

Do you think?

SEB

Yeah, but, you know, that’s OK because we kind of deserve it.

There is a knock on the door.

KIRSTY

Well yes, but that depends on what you define it by.

KIRSTY answers the door. MIRA is there.

MIRA

Hi.

KIRSTY

Hi.

MIRA

Em, I’m looking for Dani?

KIRSTY

Dani. Yeah, she’s here. Come on in. Ah, Dani. Eh, Seb. Let’s go.

DANI walks in. SEB and KIRSTY walk upstairs.

MIRA

I’ve been thinking about what you asked me earlier on.

DANI

OK. Have a seat.

MIRA

It’s been kind of difficult for me these last few days, trying to work out what I should do about Scott and me.

DANI

And.

MIRA

I don’t know. If I hold off the divorce, delay things, there’s still a chance that he might eventually fall for me.

DANI

You can’t change someone’s feelings.

MIRA

True, but he’s got big dreams Dani and I don’t want him to lose them over some girl who might only have a teenage crush on him.

DANI

Is that what you think it is? A teenage crush.

MIRA

I don’t know. I only know I want what’s best for him.

DANI

Well let him go. If he didn’t love you when he married you and he doesn’t love you now. Look, I’m sorry.

MIRA

Are you? I wouldn’t be if I were you.

DANI

You can’t control him. You know, just let him go and if you think that its just teenage crush between us, then isn’t that our business.

THE SURF CLUB

JESSE is in the gym. JOSH walks in.

JOSH

Just let you know, I’ve decided not to sell.

JESSE

Right.

JOSH

Like it or not, we have to work out a way of working together.

JESSE

That’s a tall order, seen as you’re absolutely itching to get rid of me.

JOSH

It’s nothing personal Jesse. There are a lot of other guys out there that would do a better job than you.

JESSE

Yeah, you’ve said that before.

JOSH

You think that’s not an option. I’m just going to have to make sure you do the job you’re paid to do.

JESSE

OK. Next time you have any complaints I want it in writing.

JOSH

Fine. And that’s how you’ll get them.

HAYLEY walks in.

JOSH

It’s just that I’ve spent too much money on this place to watch you and your ego to ruin it.

JESSE

Fine.

JESSE walks away. HAYLEY walks over to JOSH.

HAYLEY

Did you have to speak to him like that?

JOSH

It’s business Hayley. It’s nothing to do with you.

HAYLEY

No, so you’re not using the gym as a way of not letting go of me.

JOSH

It’s business, I told you that.

JOSH walks away.

THE BEACH HOUSE

TREVOR and IRENE are sitting out on the patio. JADE and NICK walk out.

JADE

Thanks for dinner Irene.

IRENE

Ah, you’re welcome love. Any time.

TREVOR

Bye Jade.

JADE

Bye.

JADE and NICK walk away.

TREVOR

Well, that’s my view on things. I’ve had a terrific time Irene, but I don’t want to overstay on my welcome.

IRENE

Aw, look, you haven’t and you remind me why I want to do this.

TREVOR

Well in that case, well, perhaps, we could, em.

IRENE

Well do it again. You got it.

TREVOR

Done.

IRENE

OK.

TREVOR

Well, thanks again.

IRENE

You’re welcome.

TREVOR

Bye.

IRENE

Bye.

TREVOR walks away. NICK walks back over.

NICK

So, what’s the story? You give Paris the shove for Trev.

IRENE

It’s Trevor, not Trev and no I haven’t.

NICK and IRENE walk inside.

NICK

Well, the conversations, dinner.

IRENE

He’s a friend Nick. You know, sometime when you get to my age that’s all you want.

NICK

And sometimes you want more.

IRENE

Will you get out of here. No wait. Don’t. Come here. Welcome back kiddo.

IRENE and NICK cuddle.

THE BEACHSIDE DINER

ALF and HAYLEY walk in.

ALF

The tickets are going great guns.

HAYLEY

Tickets.

ALF

Yeah, you know for the dinner dance. A chance for the young blokes to grab a Sheila.

HAYLEY

Mr. Stewart.

ALF

Well you’ve got to have a bit of fun, haven’t you love, eh. You know, as soon as people knew it was a benefit for young Scott they’re only too willing to help.

HAYLEY

And he doesn’t suspect anything.

ALF

Do I look like I’d give anything away?

MIRA walks in.

ALF

Who’s that?

HAYLEY

Em, I think that’s a relative of his. That’s what Dani said anyway.

ALF

Like a cousin or something.

HAYLEY

Yeah, yeah. I think so.

MIRA sits at a table with SCOTT.

MIRA

I didn’t think this was going to be so hard.

SCOTT

It wasn’t meant to be this way at all.

MIRA

I know. A marriage of convenience as everyone keeps reminding me. Martha cares about you. I care about you. I could hang on, hope you’d change your mind.

SCOTT

Or you could make it easy for me.

SUMMER BAY HOUSE

SCOTT walks in. DANI is there.

SCOTT

Hi.

DANI

Hey.

SCOTT

I just thought I’d let you know that Mira’s left. She’s gone back to the city.

DANI

Oh.

SCOTT

She wanted me to give you this?

DANI

What is it?

SCOTT

Open it.

DANI

It’s a wedding ring.

SCOTT

I think what’s she’s trying to say is that we’ve got her approval.

DANI

So, where do we go from here?

SCOTT

Forward I guess. One step at a time and if it’s OK with you I’d like to take that first step right now.

DANI

So would I.

DANI and SCOTT kiss. Later, DANI is sitting on the couch. DYLAN walks in.

DYLAN

Hey, if you want to be alone I’ll.

DANI

No, I’d love some company.

DYLAN

I’ve been walking and walking. Felt like I was the only person in the world still awake.

DANI

I’m still awake.

DYLAN

I’m trying to come to some sort of decision.

DANI

About your mum? About all of us?

DYLAN

She’s started packing.

DANI

What are you going to do?

DYLAN

I don’t know. I honestly don’t know.

THE BEACH HOUSE

NICK is lying in his bed. There is a knock at the door. ANGIE walks in and sits on his bed.

NICK

No, get away from me.

He wakes up. IRENE is there.

IRENE

Love, it’s all right. It’s me. It’s all right sweetheart. It was just a dream, OK. That’s all it was. It was just a dream.

NICK and IRENE cuddle.
