Scripts - Episode 3138

THE BEACH HOUSE

HAYLEY and IRENE are there. HAYLEY’S toast pops up.

IRENE

Morning.

HAYLEY

Morning.

IRENE

So.

HAYLEY

What?

IRENE

Well, did you tell Noah about Robbie?

HAYLEY

No.

IRENE

Obviously didn’t think it was that urgent after all girlie, eh.

HAYLEY

I wanted to Irene, I really did, but it just wasn’t the right time. Alf came downstairs and gave Noah the night off and.

IRENE

Aw, please, girlie. Look, you want to tell him. You know you do. It was your first instincts so just do it.

HAYLEY

Yeah, it’s not as easy as I thought it would be.

NICK walks through to the kitchen.

IRENE

No, telling the truth never is.

IRENE goes through to the kitchen.

IRENE

Well, I know one thing for sure. I’d never want to be young again.

NICK

Me neither.

IRENE

Aw, please, not you too. You and Jade just can’t seem to get your acts together, can you?

NICK

You know Irene, I just thought everything would be OK when I got back from England, but it’s not. I just can’t be the one that gives in.

IRENE

Oh, no, perish the thought. You’d much rather sit around all day being miserable. That makes sense to you. Aw, Mufti day.

NICK

Yeah.

IRENE

And, eh, what, you think you’re going to impress the girls in this do you.

NICK

Em, this is what I always wear.

IRENE

Hmm.

NICK

What? You think I should wear something else.

IRENE

All I’m saying is, em, maybe you could try sprucing yourself up a bit. What you got to lose, eh?

NICK walks away.

SUMMER BAY HOUSE

RHYS is sitting at the table. SHELLEY is in the kitchen.

RHYS

They should get a wriggle.

SHELLEY

Well you know what day it is, don’t you?

RHYS

I know I haven’t forgotten their birthdays.

SHELLEY

It’s more important than that. It’s Mufti day.

RHYS

Which means they’re going to be up there for goodness knows how long deciding what to wear and when they can’t decide they all come bolting down here demanding a brand new wardrobe, it’s this season and my bank balance will never be the same.

SHELLEY

You’ve been paying attention.

RHYS

I am learning from the master.

KIRSTY walks in.

KIRSTY

Come on Jade.

RHYS

Here we go.

JADE walks in.

SHELLEY

Jade, where did you get those clothes from?

JADE

Simone and Dani lent them to me. What do you think? Mum.

RHYS

Ah, sweetheart you look amazing, but do you think you’ll be comfortable in that at school.

JADE

Dad, fashion isn’t about comfort, it’s about looking good.

KIRSTY

Aw, come on Barbie.

JADE

Wait, we’ve got to wait for Simone.

KIRSTY

Why?

JADE

Because I said I would.

SIMONE walks in.

SIMONE

Sorry I’m late. My dad had a fight with his stupid bimbo girlfriend. She was acting like a complete two year old. Oh, wahl, you look so good. You’re so going to rock his world.

JADE

You think.

SIMONE

Yeah, I know.

SIMONE, JADE and KIRSTY leave.

THE BEACHSIDE DINER

LEAH and SALLY are at a table.

LEAH

So, you and Flynn have survived this OK?

SALLY

Yeah, I think so. Things are lot easier now that Shauna’s moved out.

LEAH

Sal.

SALLY

Yeah, it’s nothing. I’m just being silly.

VINNIE walks in.

VINNIE

Hey, baby.

LEAH

Hey.

VINNIE

Princess.

SALLY

Hi Vinnie.

VINNIE

What’s happening.

SALLY

Nothing.

VINNIE

OK, the V-Man is sensing some serious girl action going on here. I’m going to give you some space.

SALLY

No, no, no, that’s all right Vinnie. You’ll just hassle Leah until she tells you about it anyway.

VINNIE

Well that’s true. Come on.

SALLY

I’m going out with Flynn tonight.

VINNIE

Wey, took long enough,

LEAH

Hey.

SALLY

For some stupid reason I’m nervous, I’m really nervous. I even went and bought this hugely expensive dress and I wish I hadn’t. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.

VINNIE

Well, isn’t that what you chicks call retail therapy. I mean Leah prescribes it to herself at least once a week.

LEAH

Yeah, yeah, whatever.

SALLY

Yeah, well I don’t know what came over me. I must have really needed it.

LEAH

Stop stressing. You will look amazing, OK, and once Flynn sees you in that dress you’re not going to have a care in the world.

SARAH MCKAY DROP-IN CENTRE

SHELLEY take some tea through to some builders.

SHELLEY

Here we go and there’s biscuits in the kitchen. You’ll just have to help yourselves.

BUILDER

Ah, thanks. You’re going to spoil us.

MRS HARRIS walks in.

MRS HARRIS

Shelley Sutherland.

SHELLEY

Yes.

MRS HARRIS

Louise Harris, I’m Simone’s mum.

SHELLEY

Oh, of course. Thanks for coming. Would you like a tea or a coffee?

MRS HARRIS

I know her father looking after her isn’t the right situation. As far as I’m concerned the man is totally useless and is far as that bimbo girlfriend goes, well they’re welcome to each other.

SHELLEY

Yes, well, eh, Simone has expressed some dissatisfaction with the situation with her father.

MRS HARRIS

Ah, at least she’s showing some common sense.

SUMMER BAY HIGH

HAYLEY and NOAH are in a corridor.

HAYLEY

For you from the diner. Thought you might not have had a chance to get brekkie.

NOAH

Ah, thanks, I didn’t.

HAYLEY

Noah, you’re going to burn yourself out if you keep working so hard.

NOAH

Yeah, look, Jude would kill me if I lost any of his cleaning contracts.

HAYLEY

How is he?

NOAH

He’s getting better.

HAYLEY

Yeah, well, em, that’s good. Em, see the reason why I dropped in last night.

NOAH

Aw, look, yeah, thanks for helping me at the diner. You know, I’ll put in a good note and you might get in.

HAYLEY

Yeah, but I actually came around because.

NOAH

Kind of felt a bit weird though, you know, just knowing that Shauna was upstairs. So want her to be a non issue in our lives.

The bell rings.

NOAH

Guess it’s going to take a while.

HAYLEY

Yeah.

SEB is sitting in a classroom as JADE, SIMONE and KIRSTY walk in.

SEB

Wahl, Jade, you look great.

JADE

Thanks.

NICK walks in.

SEB

Check out the goods.

NICK

Everything else was in the wash.

SEB

Sure it was. You know, it looks like someone else had the same idea.

NICK

What do you mean?

SEB

Over there.

SARAH MCKAY DROP-IN CENTRE

FLYNN and SHELLEY are in the kitchen.

FLYNN

So how did the meeting go?

SHELLEY

The first thing I learned about Mrs Harris is that she’s not too keen on Mr. Harris.

FLYNN

A messy divorce, eh. Poor kid.

SHELLEY and FLYNN walk into the office.

SHELLEY

I think Simone would be dealing with this a lot better if her mother didn’t constantly put her father down in front of her. You know, Mrs Harris opens her mouth and I hear Simone, although I’m inclined to think it’s the other way around.

The phone rings. SHELLEY answers it.

SHELLEY

Sarah McKay Drop-In Centre.

Oh, right, yeah, he’s just here. I’ll put him on.

FLYNN

Hello.

What? You sure its her.

Em, yeah, I’ll just gather this down.

SUMMER BAY HIGH

IRENE walks out a room. HAYLEY is there.

IRENE

Oh, hello girlie. Where are you off to?

HAYLEY

I’ve got a free period so I’m doing some research for Noah in the computer room.

IRENE

Oh, are you now.

HAYLEY

Yeah, he’s got a lot on at the moment.

IRENE

You haven’t told him yet, have you?

HAYLEY

Irene, I was going to.

IRENE

Oh, yeah.

HAYLEY

But he’s still so cut up about Shauna and it’s way to close to all this stuff that’s been happening with Jude. I feel like he’d never forgive me.

IRENE

Hayley, tell me something. You really want it to work with Noah this time, don’t you?

HAYLEY

Yeah, of course I do.

IRENE

Well,  love, it’s all the more reason to be up front with him. You know what he’s going to think if he finds out some way down the track.

HAYLEY

Yeah, well what if I tell him and then I don’t have a relationship any more. I just couldn’t handle that.

IRENE

Please, and you’re handling it now by doing research for his assignments and god knows what else just to ease you conscience.

KIRSTY walks along. SEB walks up to her.

SEB

Hey. Do you want to come have lunch?

KIRSTY

Who with?

SEB

With me, you idiot.

KIRSTY

Don’t call me an idiot.

SEB

Well who else would I be asking to come have lunch?

KIRSTY

I don’t know. Maybe Simone.

SEB

She’s just a mate. You know I’d rather be with you.

KIRSTY

Seb, you can’t just ask me to lunch and expect everything to be OK. You have to apologise first.

SEB

Apologise for what? Hanging with Simone. Get real Kirsty. I am allowed to do what I want.

KIRSTY

Well go and do what you want and do it by yourself.

KIRSTY walks away. JADE, SIMONE and A COOL GUY walk along.

JADE

No, I’m only in year nine.

COOL GUY

You know who you look like?

JADE

Who?

COOL GUY

That girl from Ally MacBeal.

NICK is talking to a BOY. JADE, KIRSTY and the COOL GUY walk past them.

NICK

Yeah, I know.

SALLY’S HOUSE

SALLY opens the door and puts her bag and keys on the table. She then set up the ironing board and collects her dress from the bedroom. She walks back through and puts on the answering machine.

FLYNN

Hey Sal. I’ve got a lead on Ashley so I’m going to head down the city now and have a look for her. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone, but I’ll give you a call as soon as I know and let you know how things go. Looks good Sal, really looks good.

THE BEACHSIDE DINER

NOAH, HAYLEY and LEAH are there. LEAH gives NOAH a cup and walks away.

HAYLEY

I got this research for you off the web. I thought it might help you with your assignment which I’m guessing you haven’t started yet.

NOAH

Ah, thanks. Woah, this must have taken you ages.

HAYLEY

No, not really. It was quite fun actually.

NOAH

Are you nuts?

HAYLEY

I’m being nice.

NOAH

Oh, in that case, I’ve got another essay. You wouldn’t mind helping me do some research on that to, would you?

HAYLEY

Yeah, OK.

NOAH

Hayls, I’m joking.

HAYLEY

Yeah, em, anyway. I just thought that I’d leave those with you so, em, I’m going to go get my photos from England and I’ll see you back a school.

HAYLEY and NOAH kiss.

NOAH

Oh, geez, that’s a bit full on for the diner, wasn’t it.

HAYLEY

I’m just going try to spice things up a bit.

NOAH

Any reason?

HAYLEY

No.

NOAH

Oh, not that I’m complaining.

HAYLEY

See you.

HAYLEY walks away. NOAH walks over to a table where SEB and NICK sit down.

NOAH

So, Nick, what’s with Jade’s new look?

NICK

How should I know?

SEB

She did look very hot.

NICK

Yeah, I know.

SEB

And she also looked very keen on that single guy that was trying to chat her up.

NICK

Fine, he can have her.

SEB

You’re so clueless. As if she didn’t get dressed up like that for you and as if you didn’t get dressed up like that for her.

NICK

Would you just shut up.

SEB

I’m just telling it straight.

NOAH

Oh, yeah, and you’re the expert, huh. You and Kirsty, you’ve got things worked out, have you?

SEB

Well.

NOAH

The twins have got you guys running around in circles.

SUMMER BAY HOUSE

SIMONE, KIRSTY and JADE walk in.

JADE

I’m getting out of these stupid clothes.

SIMONE

No way. I didn’t do all that work for a few measly hours of glam and anyway you look fantastic. Why would you want to get changed?

JADE

Nick didn’t even notice.

KIRSTY

Well he’s a moron because everyone else did OK.

SIMONE

Kirsty’s right and anyway I promise you, he definitely noticed.

JADE

You think?

SIMONE

Jade it’s going to work out between you and Nick. I just know it is. Did you see what he was wearing and I don’t think those were just clothes he picked up off the floor like all the other gorgy guys we know. He made an effort.

JADE

Don’t know why. He didn’t even talk to me.

SIMONE

That doesn’t matter. He made the effort. It’s like a guy choosing to go to the latest Drew Barrymore film with you instead of going to football with his mates. You’ve got to read between the lines.

KIRSTY

Eh, don’t get to carried away Simone. Eh, do you guys want some sandwiches or what?

SIMONE

I’ll give you a hand. Do you think I helped?

KIRSTY

I guess. I mean, she’s not getting changed, is she?

SIMONE

Guess so.

KIRSTY

You know what, you should get a job as like some, motivational freak or something.

SIMONE

Thanks.

SUMMER BAY HIGH

HAYLEY, SALLY and NOAH are all looking at HAYLEY’S photos.

SALLY

These are fantastic Hayley. You’ve captured the light beautifully.

HAYLEY

Yeah, well I’m pretty happy with them.

NOAH

Well there’s none of you. Oh wait, here’s one. You’re really tiny. Who took this? They’re more interested in the church than you.

HAYLEY

Yeah, em, you know Nick, can’t take a photo to save himself.

NOAH

I get it. You’ve already censored them, you know, take out the ones you think you look awful in. Hayls, you couldn’t look awful if you tried.

HAYLEY

No, I really do.

NOAH

Oh, if you’re that vain I won’t push you.

SALLY

You’ve taken a lot of photos of building.

HAYLEY

Yeah, oh, they’re the houses of parliament. It’s incredible. It’s one of the most important gothic structures in England and would you believe it was a controversial building in its day.

NOAH

Geez, did you have anytime to shop?

HAYLEY

Yes.

JADE walks along outside. NICK walks up to her.

NICK

Jade.

JADE

Hi.

NICK

Is this the new you?

JADE

No. Well, Simone kind of forced me into it. I feel a bit silly.

NICK

You don’t look silly. You look amazing.

JADE

Really.

NICK

Definitely.

JADE

You look good too, really good.

NICK

Thanks. It was ah, it was Irene’s idea.

JADE

Why did she think you should get dressed up?

NICK

I don’t know. Why did Simone think you should?

JADE

For you.

NICK

Yeah, well I got dressed up for you Jade.

JADE

Do you know how long it took me to get ready this morning? Forever.

NICK

Well it was worth it and you look amazing.

JADE

I’m glad it’s only once every few months. I don’t think I could cope especially with these boots.

NICK

Yeah, massive heels.

JADE

Tell me about it.

NICK

Jade, I liked you in the normal stuff too. I mean, I like you.

JADE

I like you too.

NICK

So.

JADE

So.

NICK

I think we should go out.

JADE

I think we should to.

NICK

So does, does this mean we’re together?

JADE

Yes.

JADE and NICK kiss.

THE SURF CLUB

SEB and KIRSTY walk along.

KIRSTY

Hey.

SEB

What?

KIRSTY

Nothing.

SEB

Don’t be an idiot.

KIRSTY

Don’t call me an idiot, OK. That’s twice in one day.

SEB

Well you have been. You know you can’t tell me how I can and can’t hang out with. Simone’s all right.

KIRSTY

Yes, I know that she’s all right.

SEB

Do you?

KIRSTY

Yes.

SEB

Then what are we arguing about?

KIRSTY

I don’t know.

SEB

Then can we stop. You know I hate it.

KIRSTY

I kind of like it though.

SEB

You do.

KIRSTY

Yep.

SEB

OK.

KIRSTY

Seb.

SEB

I’m joking.

SEB and KIRSTY walk away.

SARAH MCKAY DROP-IN CENTRE

SIMONE and SHELLEY are there.

SIMONE

Mum went off didn’t she.

SHELLEY

No. We had a quiet chat.

SIMONE

It’s just she usually goes off when ever she talks about dad.

SHELLEY

She obviously does have some problems with him.

SIMONE

Yeah, that’s one way of putting it.

SHELLEY

There are a few things I want to talk to you about it.

SIMONE

Oh, I’m running late. Can I talk to you later?

SHELLEY

Yeah. Are you going to your dads place?

SIMONE

No, not this afternoon. Jade and Kirsty said I could hang with them.

SHELLEY

Kirsty.

SIMONE

Yeah, we sort of made up, like, helping Jade out and everything. She looks unreal, don’t you think? So different.

SHELLEY

Yeah, unreal is exactly what I would have said.

SIMONE

Anyway, I don’t want to keep them waiting, so I’ll see you later. OK.

SIMONE walks away.

THE BEACHSIDE DINER

LEAH and SALLY are there.

LEAH

Sal, shouldn’t you be at home getting all spiced up?

SALLY

No.

LEAH

What’s happened?

SALLY

He cancelled. He had to go to the city at the last minute.

LEAH

Aw, Sal.

SALLY

Yeah, I think just built it up a bit too much. I was so excited I even went home at lunch time and got my dress ready.

LEAH

Well, it’s just a rain check. You know, they’ll be other days.

SALLY

Yeah, I hope so.

LEAH

Of course they will be. Flynn is crazy about you.

SALLY

He warned me, you know. He said that he had other things in his life and they might have to take priority. I’m just being selfish. You know, don’t listen to me. Forget I’ve said anything.

LEAH

Good.

SUMMER BAY HOUSE

NICK and JADE are kissing. KIRSTY and SEB run around the room. KIRSTY is trying to hit SEB with a towel.

SEB

Ah. Stop it.

KIRSTY

What are you doing?

SEB and KIRSTY fall on a chair.

KIRSTY

Oh man.

SIMONE walks in.

SEB

Hey Simone.

KIRSTY

Hey Simone. Come in, we’re making pancakes to celebrate these two getting together.

JADE

I hope you’re hungry.

SIMONE

I just ate actually.

JADE

That’s OK. You can just hang out while we eat.

SIMONE

Gee, that’s an attractive offer.

NICK

Aw, come on Simone.

SIMONE

OK, forget it. You guys have just used me to get your boyfriends back. I can’t believe you’d do that Jade. Now you’ve got Nick back you don’t give a stuff about me any more.

JADE

You know that’s not true.

SEB

Simone, I thought we were all mates now.

SIMONE

I don’t need mates like you.

SIMONE walks away.

SARAH MCKAY DROP-IN CENTRE

SIMONE and SHELLEY are there.

SIMONE

They were all just so happy together and I was the odd one out. They didn’t need me. It feels like that all the time, like, like, I’m in the way of everyone, like I don’t count. Dad’s with his stupid girlfriend practically every minute.

SHELLEY

Hey, sit down. When I was saw your mum today and I listened to what she was saying about your dad I realised that most of what she said sounded familiar because I had heard you say exactly the same thing.

SIMONE

Mums right. Dad has been really stupid.

SHELLEY

Yeah, I know your parents separation has been hard on you, but it’s really difficult for your parents to. I mean, perhaps your dads just trying to find a way of coping. You know, he might feel quite lonely and feel as though he needs the companionship to make him happy.

SIMONE

But those bimbos he goes out with aren’t going to make him happy. They’re just going to make him more miserable because they’re such nutcases.

SHELLEY

Your dads still trying to figure out what makes him happy. Nobody said it gets any easier when you turn forty. I’ll let you in on a secret. I think most of us still feel like we’re teenagers sometimes.

SALLY’S HOUSE

FLYNN knocks on the door. SALLY opens it.

SALLY

Hello.

FLYNN

Hello, you gorgeous thing?

FLYNN kisses SALLY.

SALLY

Flynn.

FLYNN

How cute are you?

SALLY

I thought I’d be getting an early night. I didn’t think I was going to see you till tomorrow.

FLYNN walks in.

FLYNN

Well the bad news is Ashley’s moved on from the squat, but it was her, it was definitely her. I mean the place was pretty awful, but the guy I spoke to, he said that he saw her and she was doing OK. You know, I just, I don’t know how to explain myself. It’s the best news I’ve had since, since she left.

SALLY

Well that’s great Flynn.

FLYNN

And I just can’t keep still.

SALLY

Is a cup of camomile tea going to do anything?

FLYNN

I seriously doubt it, but lets give it a go.

SALLY

All right then.

FLYNN

Right now, I just don’t want to let you go.

FLYNN and SALLY cuddle.

THE BEACHSIDE DINER

FLYNN, LEAH and VINNIE are there.

FLYNN

I think I’m going all out this morning Leah. Bacon, eggs, the works.

LEAH

You’re back, welcome. What is it? A special occasion.

FLYNN

Ah, the world is a beautiful, beautiful place.

VINNIE

Hey.

LEAH

Aw, is that because a certain Sally Fletcher lives in it?

FLYNN

Definitely has some thing to do with it.

LEAH

Aw.

VINNIE

So, Earl, how did Sal look in the dress?

FLYNN

What dress?

VINNIE

The one she bought for your date. Oh, man, don’t tell me you didn’t comment on it. It’s a bad move. When a woman shells out that sort of money you’re definitely supposed to notice.

FLYNN

She bought a dress.

VINNIE

Well, am I missing something here?

LEAH

Missing what?

FLYNN

Sal bought a dress.

LEAH

Vinnie. You ruined it.

VINNIE

Eh, what did I say? What did I do?

LEAH

They had to cancel it last night. He hasn’t seen the dress yet.

FLYNN

Mate, you didn’t ruin it. I did. Em, let me catch that breakfast later.

LEAH

Aw, sure.

FLYNN

Can I get a picnic lunch for two?

LEAH

Oh.

FLYNN

And can I pick that up in half an hour?

LEAH

OK.

FLYNN

Right.

THE SURF CLUB

JADE walks up to SIMONE.

JADE

Hi.

SIMONE

Hi.

JADE

Is it OK if I walk with you.

SIMONE

It’s a free beach.

JADE

I wanted to talk to you.

SIMONE

So talk.

JADE

You got it all wrong yesterday. We wanted you to be there. The boys kept hassling Kirsty to start cooking, but she said she wouldn’t until you got there.

SIMONE

Yeah, sure.

JADE

It’s true. It was like a thank you for putting me out my misery and forcing me to finally deal with Nick.

SIMONE

Look, I know you guys don’t need me around anymore.

JADE

Sure we do. Your our friend. Who doesn’t need their friends around?

SIMONE

Nick really liked the outfit didn’t he?

JADE

Yeah, he loved it.

SIMONE

I knew he would.

JADE

Cute.

SALLY’S HOUSE

FLYNN knocks on the door. SALLY answers it.

FLYNN

Do you have any idea how busy I’ve been this morning? Firstly I had to go pick up these new threads, secondly I had to book a restaurant for me and my lunch date, thirdly I had to race back here.

SALLY

Who’s the lunch date?

FLYNN

You. But there is firstly the issue of a certain gorgeous dress I’ve been hearing so much about.

SALLY

Ah, you’ve been talking to Leah.

FLYNN

I’ve been talking to Vinnie. He kind of let it slip.

SALLY

It’s no big deal.

FLYNN

No, it is. You know, I made a date with you. I cancelled. I didn’t apologise.

SALLY

I understand about your sister and everything.

FLYNN

Yeah, I know you do. That’s why your so amazing. Sal, am I going to see you in this gorgeous new dress?

SALLY

Oh, I see that you, em didn’t get the chance to buy yourself a decent pair of shoes.

FLYNN

You know it’s what my mates call earthy.

SALLY

That’s one way of putting it.

FLYNN

Hey, everything has it’s purpose Sal. You never know when you’re going to need comfy shoes. Here, am I going to see this new dress.

SALLY walks into the bedroom.
