SARAH MCKAY DROP-IN CENTRESHELLEY and is there. GYPSY’S drawer is empty. SALLY and FLYNN walk in.FLYNNThis slave thing doesn’t last forever, you know that. SALLYYeah, I know. That’s why I making the most of it while it lasts. Hey, Shelley, do you want a cup of tea or coffee? We’ve got a slave in there in the kitchen. We’ve got a slave in their on kitchen duty. THE BEACH HOUSEHAYLEY, IRENE and NICK are there.IRENEHave you had a chance to catch up with Noah since you’ve been back. HAYLEYNo. Should I have? IRENEIt’s just that he bought you those beautiful flowers. I thought you might have gone round there and personally thanked him. HAYLEYNo, I didn’t have to. I ran into him at the beach. IRENEAnd. HAYLEYAnd I thanked him for the flowers. IRENEAh, did you now. GYPSY walks up to the back door.GYPSYIrene, Hi. IRENEGypsy darl. How are you doing? GYPSYNo accent then. IRENEIt would take a bit to get rid of this one. GYPSYSo, was it good? IRENEYeah, it was lovely. A couple of surprise packages along the way, but nothing we couldn’t handle. Will told me. GYPSYOh, em, well it might not be as easy as you think, Dani’s knows. IRENEAh, well, it had to happen sooner or later I suppose. Will should have been the one to tell her though. HAYLEYTell who what? NICKWhat’s going on? GYPSYWell, I better tell you guys. I want you to hear it from me.
SARAH MCKAY DROP-IN CENTREFLYNN and SHELLEY are there.FLYNNIt’s Will’s baby. That puts her in another awkward position doesn’t it. SHELLEYYeah, I’m glad it does. FLYNNSo she just left, no note, nothing. SHELLEYOr assumed she had no choice. FLYNNOr did she? SHELLEYAw, I can understand how she feels? It would have been incredibly difficult for both of us trying to maintain a professional relationship as though nothing had happened. FLYNNSo you’re saying she had no choice. SHELLEYNo, no, I’m not saying that all. I am capable of keeping my professional and personal life separate. I’m just saying it’s an awful situation for both of us and I can understand why she’d feel uncomfortable. FLYNNWouldn’t we better off to try and persuade her to stay, at least until we can train up somebody else. SHELLEYI’m not sure that would work. FLYNNWell, how are we going to cope filling in for another person? If you think you’ll have trouble seeing her maybe we could organise a system so that she comes in on my shifts only and surely that’s worth a shot. SHELLEYAnd how do you propose we go about persuading her to do that? FLYNNShe’s not even going to think about it unless the offer comes from you.
SUMMER BAY HOUSEDANI, JADE and KIRSTY are in the kitchen.DANII can’t believe he knew about it before he went away and he didn’t say anything. KIRSTYI’m sorry. I can’t. There’s to much going on down here at the moment. SEBWhat’s wrong with Dani? KIRSTYAw, it’s cool. I’ll tell you about it some other day. So, are you going to go to the airport when they pick up Jude? SEBNo, Noah’s taken the van so there’s not enough a room. KIRSTYWhy doesn’t Shauna just pick him up her car? SEBShe said she had something else on. KIRSTYAre you sure that’s all there is to it? SEBWhat’s that supposed to mean? KIRSTYWell the other day, Jade and I were walking through the caravan park and, well we saw Shauna run out of Flynn’s van. SEBSo. KIRSTYSo, she looked really upset, you know, as if she’d been crying. It was like they’d had a fight or something. SEBSo, what are you trying to say? KIRSTYNothing. SEBFlynn and Shauna. Aw, you’ve got to be joking?
THE BEACH HOUSEHAYLEY, NICK, GYPSY and IRENE are all there.HAYLEYYou and Will, this is so amazing. NICKWill’s going to be a dad. That’s so weird. IRENEI think you’ve both done a wonderful job of making your lives as difficult for yourselves as you possibly could, but what’s done is done. GYPSYYou’re not going to lecture me how I’ve completely ruined Will’s life. IRENEAh well, he’s a big boy. He’s perfectly capable of getting himself into all sorts of bother without any help from anyone. You’re the one I’m worried about. GYPSYMe. IRENEWell love it must have been hard work keeping this for everyone. Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the hard works just started. Gypsy love, you know what this place is like. When word gets out the tongues will be wagging so fast will all get knocked over in the slipstream. GYPSYYeah, I can hardly wait for that. IRENEYeah, well I just want to let you know if they’re going to do that they’re going to have to climb over me first. As far as I’m concerned Will and the other two are my family and child of theirs is my family too and that means you and the baby if you think you can handle it. GYPSYI think I can handle it. HAYLEY comes downstairs.IRENEIsn’t that right Hayley. HAYLEYYep, that’s exactly what I was going to say. IRENECome on, you may as well come in. She’s not going to get any study done tonight now. HAYLEYI am so glad that Will’s the father. IRENESo, have you spoken to him? GYPSYNot since Dani found out. IRENEWell, don’t you think it’s time.
SUMMER BAY HOUSESHELLEY, RHYS, JADE, DANI, BRODIE and KIRSTY are all there.SHELLEYWell, it looks like Gypsy’s decided to quit the centre. KIRSTYSaves you haven’t to chuck her out. JADEKirsty, she’s going to have a baby. She needs a job. KIRSTYShe doesn’t deserve a job after what’s she’s did to Dani. SHELLEYShe didn’t do anything to Dani deliberately. DANISo she’s gone for good. SHELLEYYeah, well, I haven’t spoken to her yet. I suppose she thinks she’s doing the best thing by leaving, but it’s going to make things difficult at the centre. DANIHere we go. You still think that she should be working there. SHELLEYI think it’s a loss to the centre not having her there, yes. DANIDon’t you get what she done to me. SHELLEYDani it would irresponsible of me to let a personal grudge affect my professional judgement. DANIIt’s the same old stuff, isn’t it? SHELLEYOh, Dani, this is a difficult situation for all of us. RHYSHang on a sec. That was Alf on the phone. He’s taking some blokes out tomorrow morning on a fishing trip. Thought you might be glad for a bit of work. DANIWith a bunch of yobs on a boat, no thank you. RHYSNo, he doesn’t want you to go out with them. He just wants you to help him clean it down after they get back. DANINo, I don’t want to see anyone. RHYSHiding away in your room isn’t going make this any easier Dan. DANIYeah, I know that dad.
THE LAWSON HOUSENOAH plays the guitar. SEB answers the door. FLYNN is there.FLYNNHey. Can I come in? SEBSure. FLYNNWhen’s Jude due back from Melbourne? SEBTomorrow night. FLYNNHey, no more takeaway for you boys. SEBWhatever. NOAHHere, take a seat. Do you want a drink? FLYNNA beer thanks. SEB and NOAH are in the kitchen.NOAHWhat’s with the attitude? SALLY’S HOUSEGYPSY, SHAUNA and SALLY are outside.GYPSYSo you don’t think I should have stuck around? They walk inside.SALLYNo, I think you did exactly what you had to do to get out of an uncomfortable situation. GYPSYI just didn’t have the energy to fight. SHAUNASo, em, did you go over and see Irene. GYPSYYeah, she already knew. Will had told her. Hayley was so excited about being an auntie. SHAUNAOh, so when’s Will coming back? GYPSYI don’t know. IRENELook love I’m so sorry that Edward is sick, but really, it’s a matter of priorities, now isn’t it? Will, I really think that you should get yourself back home. It’s not all going to all miraculously sort itself you know. You’ve got to get your but back here, you’ve got to face the music mate. All right. OK then, good. HAYLEYWell? IRENEHe’s going to try an rearrange his flights.
SALLY’S HOUSESHELLEY and GYPSY are there.SHELLEYI admit I didn’t handle it very well when I found out, but you could have at least discussed it with me before you left Gypsy. GYPSYI just. I thought it would be easier if I wasn’t there. SHELLEYDo you honestly believe that. How do you think I’m going to get to replace you? I’m not going to kid you I’m here to smooth things over. I’m here because I’m in a spot. GYPSYWell I’ve said I’m sorry. I don’t know what else I can do. SHELLEYYou could stay on at the centre. GYPSYAre you serious? You want me to work with somebody who hates me. SHELLEYAw, Gypsy, I don’t hate you. I’m very disappointed in you. I don’t think you’ll ever understand how much you’ve hurt Dani. GYPSYAnd how can you stand working with me? SHELLEYI don’t think I can to be perfectly honest with you. Flynn has suggested there might be a way to work out our shifts so we don’t get in each others hair. GYPSYWhat? So it’s business then. SHELLEYWell that’s the only way it can be. I need you, the jobs there, take it or leave it. GYPSYShelley, is Dani OK? SHELLEYShe’s coping. Well, you let me know as soon as you’ve decided because I’ll need to find a replacement if you’re not staying. GYPSYSure.

I’ve just been doing double shifts lately. That small sleep is very precious to me. My granny seems to like it though, so you’ve got one fan. NOAHThanks. CHARLOTTEThat’s OK. OK, well I better go before delirium starts to kick in. NOAHBye. CHARLOTTE leaves.FLYNNWho was that? NOAHAh, just some chick from upstairs. Doesn’t recognise music genius when she hears it. It wasn’t that loud. There is a knock at the door. SEB answers it. SHAUNA is there.SEBHi. SHAUNAHi. Em, hi guys. Em, I was just wondering if you knew exactly what time Jude was getting in? NOAHAh, he gets in about ten past eight. We’re all going to have a welcome home thingy for him, if you want to come. Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you. FLYNNYeah, I might catch up another time. I told you to clean the boat, not to take it for a flamin’ joyride. DANII’m sorry. ALF climbs aboard.ALFSorry. Oh, sorry, you think that does it, do you. This is not a toy. It’s the way I make my flamin’ living. I trusted you girl and what do you do? Your hooning around like some yahoo. A galah’s got more brains than you have. Aw, don’t be daft. Just stop it all right. Look it’s not the end of the world, OK.
THE BEACHSHAUNA and FLYNN walk along.SHAUNAI wanted to talk to you before Jude got back. I don’t want you telling him about what happened. FLYNNOh, I would have left it up to you to tell him anyway. SHAUNAI know and I will. I need more time. FLYNNTime. SHAUNAYeah, I mean, put yourself in my shoes. None of this is easy. FLYNNI think I know. Think about the compromising position you’ve put me in. Jude is a friend of mine to remember. SHAUNAI know that and I am really sorry. FLYNN Save it. NOAH watches them talk.FLYNNJust go and tell him the whole story. Stop lying to him. NOAHNo, it would kill him if he thought Shauna was cheating on him OK. SEBWell, he’s going to find out sooner or later. Either we tell him or he finds out himself. How are you protecting here? Flynn or your brother.
THE BLAXLANDALF and DANI are aboard.DANIWhen I saw her on the wharf I knew that she wanted to talk to me. ALFSo you decided to head for the mulga. DANII just couldn’t talk to her. ALFWell, I guess I can understand that. DANII just want to tear her eyes out. ALFNot a very good idea love. If you did something like that you’d end up in a real mess. Look, I’m not going to pretend that it’s not going to be hard for you. DANIWhat am I supposed to do? You know, every time I go down the street I’m worried about seeing her and then when the baby comes, it’s just going to be this mess and every time I see them. ALFYou just put one foot in front of the other, one step at a time. The hurt will gradually get less day by day and then one day you’ll wake up and you’ll realise you haven’t thought about them for a whole day. Works for me sometimes. DANIThanks Mr. Stewart.
THE BEACHSIDE DINERSALLY and FLYNN walk in.SALLYThe whole things has just been so messy. You don’t know what it’s been like knowing what’s going on and not being able to tell Shelley about it. FLYNNYeah, you’ve been a really good friend to Gyps. She’s really lucky she had you there to lead her. Two coffees please. I tell you though, it seems like it would have been a hell of a lot easier just to tell them once she found out. Trying to keep something like this a secret, it’s not healthy for anyone. Someone always gets hurt in the end. SALLYYou know, I just wish I could have done something to make it easier for everyone. FLYNNYou can’t. Don’t beat yourself up over it. You know, you sworn to secrecy. What could you do? You couldn’t go blabbing to the world about it. SALLYAnyway, I’m glad you sorted things out so at least she can still work at the drop-in centre. FLYNNHalf that credit goes to Shelley. You know if she wasn’t capable of putting her personal feelings aside this wouldn’t be happening. CHARLOTTE is walking out.FLYNNHey, excuse me. Keeping awake I see. CHARLOTESorry. FLYNNAw, I was downstairs jamming with Noah last night. You came down to have a word with him about the noise. CHARLOTTEOh, yeah, yeah, that was me. I’m not usually such a party pooper. I’ve just got a lot of work on at the moment. Anyway I’m late again. See you. FLYNNFlynn and this is my friend Sally. CHARLOTTECharlotte Adams. SALLYHey. CHARLOTTE walks out.
THE WHARFALF and DANI are on the Blaxland. GYPSY is on the wharf.ALFLooks like you’ve got a welcoming committee. DANIOh no. ALFGive us that rope would you Gyps. GYPSYDani, look I know you don’t want to hear anything I’ve got to say, but please can you just listen. There’s a couple of things you’ve got to know. Number one, you and Will were not together when it happened and number two, he didn’t know it was his baby. I didn’t tell him till just before he left for London. DANII know, but you see, you knew. You knew all along and you watched us. You let us fall in love and you knew it was going to be ripped apart one day. How could you be that cruel?
SUMMER BAY HOUSEBRODIE and DANI are there.DANII can’t believe she’d even bother. As if anything she’d have to say would make any difference to me. BRODIEShe’s a bit of a sad case isn’t she? DANISad. BRODIEYeah, look at her. She’s alone, she’s pregnant, her family aren’t here. Will’s probably never going to speak to her again after she lied to him all this time. DANII still hate her. BRODIEDo you hate Will too? DANII don’t know. BRODIEThey’re millions of guys who would just die to go out with you. DANIYeah, but the thing is. I don’t want millions of guys. I want Will. |
