Scripts - Episode 3111

THE LAWSON HOUSE

FLYNN and SHAUNA are in the kitchen.

FLYNN

I’m just going to leave.

JUDE

Oi, how long are you guys going to be?

FLYNN

Ah, just concentrate on your food mate.

JUDE

Oh, all right Earl.

SHAUNA

Please don’t say anything to Jude. He’d be devastated.

FLYNN

Of course I’m not going to say anything. We’ll talk when you’re sober.

FLYNN walks out the kitchen.

SALLY

Sorry, we couldn’t wait for you.

JUDE

I thought you were supposed to be getting us drinks.

FLYNN

Ah, you know that. I’m actually going to go.

SHAUNA walks out the kitchen.

SALLY

Oh, so early.

JUDE

Mate, we have got a whole Pavlova out there. Baby, tell him he can’t go.

FLYNN

Actually you know what. Thank you anyway. It’s been a great night, but I’ve really got to go. Means I’ll have to pull out of jogging tomorrow.

FLYNN collects his jacket and JUDE stands up.

JUDE

Mate, mate, sure you’re OK?

FLYNN

Yeah, I’m just tired mate. Em, say goodbye to Noah.

JUDE

Yeah sure.

FLYNN

Great.

FLYNN leaves. JUDE and SHAUNA sit down.

JUDE

Poor guy. Just can’t get his mind of it, can he?

SALLY

His sister?

JUDE

Yeah, I thought a relaxing night might take his mind away from it.

THE PATTERSON HOUSE

BRODIE and ALEX sit on the settee watching the TV.

BRODIE

Did they call?

ALEX calls.

BRODIE

The instruction company about that job. Did they call?

ALEX

Yeah, they called.

BRODIE

And?

ALEX

Brodie, I’m trying to watch the film. Come on.

BRODIE

You like a drink?

In the kitchen VINNIE and RALPH are sitting at the table. LEAH makes some tea.

RALPH

And now our line of credit is all locked in all we have to do is buy up all our stock.

VINNIE

How much stock are we talking about?

RALPH

Enough to fill this house, mate.

LEAH

Aw, does this mean the house is going to be full of boxes again?

RALPH

Not for a second. Believe me sweetheart I’ve got it all covered. All stock goes into storage.

LEAH

Storage? I thought you said storage was expensive.

RALPH

I did, but not with other people’s money, it’s not.

They laugh.

RALPH

Anyway enough business for tonight. I’m going to bed. See you in the morning. I love you.

RALPH kisses LEAH on the forehead.

LEAH

Night.

VINNIE

Night, dadio.

RALPH

My boy.

RALPH leaves and LEAH sits down at the table.

LEAH

Vinnie, can I ask you something?

VINNIE

Sure babe. I can answer anything.

LEAH

Good, cos, em, did you understand any of that about the line of credit?

VINNIE

What’s there to understand?

LEAH

It just seems like you’re borrowing all this money so then you can give it to someone else.

VINNIE

Yeah.

LEAH

I don’t get it. What’s the point?

VINNIE

What’s the point? Business, business, money moves back, it moves forward. It’s on the paper.

SALLY’S HOUSE

GYPSY sits at the table. SHAUNA and SALLY walk in.

GYPSY

Hey, you guys are back early.

SALLY sits at the table.

SALLY

Yeah, someone decided to party a bit too hard.

GYPSY

Oh, how was your night?

SALLY

Aw, it was really good. Jude made the most beautiful meal and Flynn had us all laughing.

SHAUNA walks out the kitchen.

SALLY

Before he left that is. You off to bed?

SHAUNA

Yeah.

GYPSY

What’s up with her?

SALLY

It’s called Chardonnay.

THE PATTERSON HOUSE

ALEX and BRODIE sit on the couch. ALEX puts a video back in its box.

BRODIE

Maybe I should just go.

ALEX

Yeah.

BRODIE stands up and LEAH walks in.

LEAH

Oh, the movie finished?

BRODIE

No, I was just going. Thanks for having me.

LEAH

Hey, you just can’t go now. I mean, I’ve just started making you hot coffee.

BRODIE

Oh, I think I’ll leave. Bye Alex.

LEAH

Alex.

ALEX

Bye.

BRODIE leaves.

LEAH

Alexi, that was really rude, OK.

ALEX

Just drop it, OK.

LEAH

No, I’m not going to just drop it. What is wrong with you? You’ve got a really nice girl there and all she wants is for you to be happy and you’ve been sniffing at her all evening.

ALEX

That’s right, that’s right. Brodie is perfect, isn’t she. I really should remember that considering the family does nothing, but remind me all the time.

LEAH

You’re being really mean, all right. It’s not her fault you’re low on work and you know it.

ALEX

OK, I’m going to bed.

LEAH

What about tomorrow? You got some work lined up for tomorrow?

ALEX

Take one guess Leah.

ALEX walks away.

SALLY’S HOUSE

SHAUNA walks out of her bedroom. GYPSY is watching the TV.

SHAUNA

Ah, Gypsy, what are you doing?

GYPSY

Sorry, did I wake you?

SHAUNA

No, I just need something for my head. It’s killing me. What’s your excuse?

GYPSY

Little one wouldn’t go to sleep. So I figured a B-grade horror movie might bore us both to bed. Shauna, are you all right?

SHAUNA

I told you I’ve just got a headache.

GYPSY

Yeah, I know, but it’s not like you to drink too much. Look, you know if you’re having problems with Jude or anything you can talk to me about it.

SHAUNA

I’m fine.

GYPSY

I’ll get you something for your headache.

GYPSY goes into the kitchen. The next morning, SALLY eats her breakfast at the table. SHAUNA also sits at the table GYPSY is in the kitchen.

SHAUNA

Do you have to eat that Sally?

SALLY

Don’t blame me because you’ve got a hangover and on a school night.

GYPSY

Do you want a cup of coffee?

SHAUNA

No, I don’t have the time.

SALLY

Yeah we do. I’ll give you a lift to school.

SHAUNA

No, I’d rather walk. Clear my head.

She walks towards the door. SALLY walks up to the sink.

GYPSY

Oh, can I come with you? I’ve got to get to the drop-in centre.

SHAUNA

Oh, I’ve got to go now.

GYPSY

Well, I’m ready.

SHAUNA

OK.

SALLY

Have fun.

THE PATTERSON HOUSE

LEAH does VINNIE’S tie and RALPH walks out the living room.

VINNIE

Yo, dad. You don’t think the suits too much? I’m only going to check out storage space.

RALPH

Oh mate, look you’re the chairman of the board of the company. You got to look professional.

VINNIE

That’s a good point.

ALEX walks out the bathroom.

ALEX

Bathroom’s free.

RALPH

That’ll be my turn.

RALPH runs into the bathroom.

VINNIE

Hey, there’s a fresh brew in the kitchen if you’re after one boss.

ALEX sits down.

ALEX

Em, thank you. I’ll have it later.

LEAH

You’re not just going to sit there all day, are you?

ALEX

Leah, I’ve been up for two minutes and you’re already having a go at me.

LEAH

Well, I’m just a bit worried you’re getting yourself into a rut.

ALEX

A rut. This looks like a couch to me.

LEAH walks over to ALEX and sits down.

LEAH

So long as you do something with your day right. You know, ring around for some more work.

ALEX

Leah, there is no point looking for work that no one’s prepares to give you, OK.

VINNIE

Come on mate. Let’s be a bit more positive, uh,

LEAH

See, he’s right. If you want your business to bounce back then you’ve got to put some effort in, you know. Look how much effort Vinnie’s putting in.

VINNIE looks at himself in the mirror.

ALEX

Well I don’t think a suit’s going to help me Leah.

LEAH

You know, you’d get any job you wanted to if you just tried and don’t just sit here feeling sorry for yourself and blaming Brodie. Hey, if you keep treating her like you did last night you’re going to lose her.

ALEX

Leah, will you drop it. Just because you decided to settle down and get married doesn’t mean I want to do the same thing.

ALEX stands up and walks away.

A ROAD

GYPSY and SHAUNA are walking briskly.

GYPSY

Well, I’m glad I didn’t walk by myself. The conversation’s riveting.

SHAUNA

I’m sorry. I’m just not in the mood to talk.

JUDE and FLYNN are out jogging. They jog up to GYPSY and SHAUNA.

JUDE

Hello. Hey gorgeous. How’s your head going?

SHAUNA

It’s fine.

JUDE

Really. Well I thought you would’ve been missing work for sure. Definitely.

They cuddle.

JUDE

No more drinks for you in a hurry.

GYPSY

Oh, by the way we’ve got the council inspector coming later today to insect the building.

FLYNN

All right. I might push on. I’ll see you at the surf club.

JUDE

Yeah sure.

FLYNN

See you.

GYPSY

Bye.

FLYNN jogs away.

JUDE

So are you going to be home for lunch today?

SHAUNA

Em, I don’t know, but I do know if I don’t get going now I’m going to be late for school.

SHAUNA walks away.

JUDE

Was that just the hangover talking?

GYPSY

I don’t know. I was about to ask you the same thing. Did something happen last night?

JUDE

What do you mean?

GYPSY

Did you guys have an argument or anything?

JUDE

Not that I’m aware of.

GYPSY

Something’s funny.

A WAREHOUSE

RALPH and VINNIE are there.

VINNIE

This isn’t a storage cell. It’s a warehouse.

RALPH

Not bad, eh?

VINNIE

Not bad at all. Sure it’s not too big?

RALPH

Oh, no way. We’re going to be moving stocks through this place as fast as we can.

VINNIE

Quick turnover, eh?

RALPH

Spot-on, but it’s going to take a lot of hard work. Are you ready for it?

VINNIE

Of course I’m ready for it. I’m not going to be doing it all myself I hope.

RALPH

What? You think I’m going to give you a heart attack or something? Course not. No, no, no, we’ll hire a couple of guys to help you out for a while, but you’re going to have to do all the deliveries yourself.

VINNIE

Why?

RALPH

Well, I’d help, but my problem.

VINNIE

Oh, yeah, yeah. Well this chairman doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty every now and then.

RALPH

Yeah.

VINNIE

You know, I wish I had a camera.

RALPH

Yeah. Why’s that?

VINNIE

This is a moment worth recording. The day Patterson and Patterson take on the world.

SARAH MCKAY DROP-IN CENTRE

GYPSY is in the office. FLYNN walks in.

GYPSY

Hey, little jogger boy. How are you doing?

FLYNN

Not bad myself. The council inspector guy hasn’t arrived yet?

GYPSY

No, and he’s running an hour late.

FLYNN

Lucky for me.

GYPSY

Me too. My paperwork.

FLYNN

Not nervous about the inspection are you?

GYPSY

No, no, no, no, I’m just checking this for fire safety and stuff like that, yeah.

FLYNN

You just seem a little bit like something is on your mind. I know. I can hear you ticking.

GYPSY

Well Shauna, she’s been in a really weird mood lately, like really emotional.

GYPSY stands up.

GYPSY

I mean you saw it this morning. Was she acting strange to you?

GYPSY leaves the room.

FLYNN

No, I don’t know.

GYPSY

Well I thought that something happened with her and Jude, but he’s got no idea either.

FLYNN

Sorry. Can’t help you.

GYPSY

Maybe it’s just that she’s getting married and freaking out a bit. She’s got a habit of doing that. You know, I just assumed she’d be different this time with Jude, but now, she seems so uncertain now. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope I am.

FLYNN

Right.

GYPSY

Have you been listening to word I’ve said?

GYPSY hits FLYNN with some paper.

FLYNN

Yeah, yeah Gypsy. You know what. I’ve got to duck out for a bit. I’ll be back in five, ten minutes.

FLYNN leaves.

GYPSY

Yeah, you’ve got to be.

SUMMER BAY HIGH

SHAUNA is in a corridor talking to a pupil. FLYNN walks up to her.

SHAUNA

This is the last time. Next time you don’t bring your uniform; it will be a detention, OK.

FLYNN

Shauna, em, we need to talk.

SHAUNA

You can’t come here.

FLYNN

We’ll just go outside.

SALLY walks up to them. SHAUNA leaves.

SALLY

Flynn, this is a surprise.

FLYNN

Oh, hi. I came to see if you want to go to lunch.

SALLY

Yeah, I’d love to.

FLYNN

The diner?

SALLY

Sounds good.

FLYNN

All right, so about lunchtime?

SALLY

Well, yeah, that’s usually when I have lunch.

The bell rings.

SALLY

I’d love to stay and talk.

FLYN

I know. You have to stop when the bell tongs.

SALLY

All right. See you lunchtime.

SARAH MCKAY DROP-IN CENTRE

GYPSY and the INSPECTOR are there.

GYPSY

Em, that’s it. You’ve seen the entire place.

INSPECTOR

Right and, eh, when was this sprinkler system installed?

GYPSY

Em, I don’t know. I’d have to ask Shelley.

FLYNN walks in.

FLYNN

G’day, Flynn Saunders. You must be from the council.

INSPECTOR

I know Miss Nash mentioned she was expecting you.

FLYNN

Yeah, I got a bit caught up. My apologies.

INSPECTOR

Yes, well ordinarily, I’d expect the person in charge to be in attendance when I carry out a building safety inspection.

FLYNN

Well, I’m here now. So did we pass our physical? No big problems I hope.

INSPECTOR

Depends on what you mean by big. I mean, the wiring in the roof is definitely a safety hazard and eh, you’ve got a white ant problem in the structural timber. Obviously no one’s been up on the roof since we had those storms last year.

FLYNN

Oh.

GYPSY

So, does that mean we’ve passed?

INSPECTOR

I’ll be preparing a formal report, but I can tell you now that considerable work needs to be done. To start, these premises are not in acceptable condition.

FLYNN

And how long would we have to get them back up to scratch?

INSPECTOR

Oh, usual period of grace is four weeks. As I said it will all be in the report.

GYPSY

Well, what happens if we can’t do it in four weeks?

INSPECTOR

The council can order you to vacate the premises.

GYPSY

You’d shut us down?

INSPECTOR

Hopefully it won’t come to that. Thanks for your time. I’ll show myself out.

The INSPECTOR leaves.

FLYNN

Wasn’t our last inspection less than a year ago? How come all of a sudden there’s so many problems?

GYPSY

The council thinks that it was a bad idea letting us start up in the first place. What I want to know is how we’re going to get all this done in four weeks and how are we going to afford it?

THE PATTERSON HOUSE

ALEX is sitting on the couch eating crisps. LEAH walks in.

LEAH

Have you been there all morning?

ALEX

No, I walked to the kitchen ten minutes ago to get these.

LEAH

Alexi, you’re a disaster. You can’t even make yourself a proper lunch.

LEAH grabs the bag of crisps.

LEAH

No, you need to get motivated. OK. A job’s not going to walk in here and tap you on the shoulder.

BRODIE walks in.

BRODIE

Hi guys.

LEAH

Hey Brodie.

BRODIE

Hi Alex.

LEAH

If you can get him off that couch I’ll give you a medal.

BRODIE

Ah, are you having a lazy one?

BRODIE sits down.

ALEX

What are these?

BRODIE

They are some Greek biscuits I made. They are those almond ones, sort of.

ALEX

What do you know about Greek biscuits?

BRODIE

I just found the recipe in a book. I thought it might cheer you up.

LEAH

That is really sweet Brodie. Can I have one?

BRODIE

Go for it.

LEAH

Yipee.

BRODIE

Alex.

ALEX

Mmm, I’m full of those chips.

BRODIE

Right, OK. I guess there’s plenty more for later.

LEAH

These are really beautiful. Can you make me some for my name day?

BRODIE

Really.

LEAH

Mmm.

BRODIE

I don’t know. They wouldn’t be as good as Aunt Catherine’s.

LEAH

Aunt Catherine is not going to be there so that leaves you to.

ALEX stands up.

LEAH

Where are you going?

ALEX

I’m going out of here. You’re talking about family and I need a drink.

ALEX leaves.

BRODIE

I guess I get that medal.

ALEX is in the kitchen. VINNIE runs in.

VINNIE

Oh, Alexi, Alexi, hey, hey. What are you doing the salvo?

ALEX

Well I don’t know. I haven’t checked the TV schedule.

VINNIE

Look, I’m serious. I need you to do some work for me. I’d do it myself, but I was just supposed to be down at the surf club ten minutes ago.

ALEX

Well, what sort of work Vinnie?

VINNIE

Oh, what sort of work. You’ll be overseeing some deliveries to the wardrobe. Look if all goes well, they’ll be plenty more work coming your way. It’s all paid.

LEAH and BRODIE walk through.

ALEX

All right.

VINNIE

You’re a legend.

LEAH

Vinnie.

VINNIE

Yeah.

LEAH

Alexi has trained a long time to be an electrician. You can’t distract from his business because he may never get it started again.

VINNIE

Have some faith. He’s getting in on Patterson and Patterson at it’s ground level. Got to fly.

VINNIE leaves.

LEAH

Vinnie, Vinnie, don’t.

ALEX

I need a shower.

ALEX leaves.

SALLY’S HOUSE

SHAUNA sits at the table. JUDE stands at the door.

JUDE

Remember me.

SHAUNA

Hi.

JUDE walks up to the table.

JUDE

Good looking sandwich.

SHAUNA

Would you like one?

JUDE

No. What I would like to know is why you’re so edgy?

SHAUNA

I’m not edgy. I’m fine.

JUDE

Come on. Sit down. I’m not the only one noticed. Gypsy asked if we had a fight today she was so worried about you.

SHAUNA

I don’t know why she’s worried. It’s silly.

JUDE

It’s OK if you’re feeling down. You don’t have to be the tough guy all the time. Is it something I’ve down? Look, I want you to tell me the truth here, is it about the wedding?

SHAUNA

Jude, I just.

JUDE

Because if it is, then you know people get stressed out on the lead up to the wedding all the time. It’s normal. You just have to talk about it, that’s all.

SHAUNA

I am feeling a bit weird about the wedding, but it’s not because I’m having second thoughts.

JUDE

Then why?

SHAUNA

It’s just that we haven’t organised anything yet. I mean we haven’t set a date and we haven’t even talked about the honeymoon. I mean everything’s just so up in the air.

JUDE

Hey, hey, hey, we can fix all that. You know if you’re just panicking about making arrangements then we’ll get cracking. No problem. How does the fifteenth of November sound?

They stand up.

SHAUNA
What?

JUDE

For the wedding.

SHAUNA

That’s your birthday.

JUDE

Ah, so it is. Looks like I’ll have a double reason to celebrate, won’t I?

SHAUNA

November the fifteenth sounds perfect.

They cuddle.

THE PATTERSON HOUSE

BRODIE and LEAH sit at the table in the kitchen.

BRODIE

A bit doughy aren’t they?

LEAH

Mmm. They are lovely.

BRODIE

Alex didn’t even touch them.

LEAH

Ah well. I wouldn’t worry about Alexi. He’s acting like a two year old kid.

BRODIE

Yeah, but I am worried Leah. It’s just I don’t know what I’ve done to upset him.

LEAH

Hey, you haven’t done anything to upset him.

ALEX walks in.

ALEX

Hey, has anyone seen my boots?

LEAH

They’re in the laundry. I’ll get them.

LEAH stands up and walks out the room.

ALEX

Can I have one?

BRODIE

Well I only made them for you. Alex, I’m sorry that your business isn’t going very well, but it’s really not my fault.

ALEX

I know that.

BRODIE

Well then, why are you being so mean to me. You know I hate it when you’re all moody like this?

ALEX

Brodie, I just need a bit of space at the moment.

BRODIE

If you want some space all you’ve got to do is say. Just don’t get angry at me for trying to help you.

ALEX

I’m sorry.

BRODIE

It’s OK. Anyway, it’s really good news about this other job.

ALEX

Mmm, going to get Leah off my back for a while.

BRODIE

Aw, I noticed things were a bit tense between you guy. Was worried you might have to move back to the caravan for a while.

They both sit down.

ALEX

No, what are you talking about? We’re family. Families’ fight, families work things out. It’s a bit like you with Rhys and Shelley, right.

BRODIE

Oh yeah, but I mean I couldn’t really get angry with them if I wanted to, which I don’t. I’m still sort of on my best behaviour.

ALEX

You know I forget sometimes that they’re not your real family. You know you’re so close.

BRODIE

Yeah, they’re great. I just sometimes wish I had a real family, you know, like you and Leah do.

ALEX

And you don’t think you could have that kind of relationship with your own mum?

BRODIE

Ah, no way. Ah, no, I shouldn’t complain because I’ve got two families right. I’ve got the Sutherland’s and I’ve got the Pouloses.

BRODIE gets up and cuddles ALEX.

BRODIE

So, do you like my biscuits?

ALEX

Mmm, they’re great.

BRODIE

Very Greek.

ALEX

Very Greek.

THE BEACH

VINNIE is in the lifeguards’ car looking through binoculars. RALPH walks up to the car.

VINNIE

Hey dad. What you doing here?

RALPH

I’ve just got a few things to sort out with you son.

VINNIE

Hey.

VINNIE gets out the car.

RALPH

Em, is there somewhere we could go for a bit of privacy?

VINNIE

Dad, I’m working here.

RALPH

Yeah.

VINNIE

If Alf catches me with you he’s going to chuck a fit. Can’t this wait until I get home?

RALPH

Look it won’t take a tick. It’s I just need you to sign a few cheques for me.

VINNIE

Look, hurry up.

RALPH

Em, first four cheques. I’ll fill in the amounts later.

VINNIE signs the cheques.

VINNIE

What’s this all for anyway?

RALPH

Ah, like you said, it’s a bit of a rush. I’ll talk to you about it later.

VINNIE

OK, look I’ve got Alex to work at the warehouse this afternoon too.

RALPH

Just one more while you’re here.

VINNIE

Get out of here.

RALPH

Good man.

RALPH walks away. VINNIE waves at ALF. He picks up a loudhailer.

VINNIE

In between the flags people, thank you.

SALLY’S HOUSE

SHAUNA is in the kitchen. GYPSY walk in.

GYPSY

Hey, how you doing? Have you had lunch yet?

SHAUNA

Why did you ask Jude if we’d been fighting?

GYPSY

Em, because you’re upset and.

SHAUNA

It’s none of your business Gypsy.

SHAUNA sits down at the table.

GYPSY

Shauna, you’re my friend and when something’s upsetting you, I’m concerned about it.

SHAUNA starts to cry.

GYPSY

Hey, what is it? You can tell me.

SHAUNA

I did something really terrible last night, but you’re not to understand OK. I really love Jude and he is wonderful, but.

GYPSY sits down.

GYPSY

What? What did you?

SHAUNA

I told Flynn I loved him, but it just came out just like that.

GYPSY

Did you mean it?

SHAUNA

I never thought I’d would want anybody else. I don’t know and then I met Flynn and I just felt something. I know it sounds awful and I feel really awful, but I don’t know now if Jude’s the right person for me. I mean how can he be if I am attracted to Flynn.

GYPSY

Does he feel something for you?

SHAUNA

I don’t know. I think he might. I mean, he came to the school to talk to me about, but I was just too freaked out to talk to him. What am I going to do?

GYPSY

Well, for starters you have to talk to Jude. Tell him how you’re feeling. Be open and honest about it.

SHAUNA stands up.

SHAUNA

No, no, no. He’s not going to know about this.

GYPSY

What? You’re just going to lie to him?

SHAUNA

Yeah, I’m not lying. I mean, there’s nothing to lie about. Nothings happened between me and Flynn.

GYPSY

You told Flynn that you loved him. I think that’s something.

SHAUNA

No, it isn’t and I’m not going to let it be, OK.

GYPSY

Em, OK, I guess talk to Flynn about it. Em, maybe if you air out what you’re feeling with each other you could find out it’s just the jitters.

SHAUNA

I’d just die if I lost Jude.

GYPSY

Look, come here.

They cuddle.

A WAREHOUSE

RALPH is talking to MAX.

RALPH

You wanted fifty g’s. There it is.

MAX

This one better now bounce on me Ralph.

RALPH

Oh, come on mate. It’s in the bank. You’ll have no problem cashing that.

MAX

Better not.

A truck drives up to the front of the warehouse. ALEX arrives. MAX walks away.

RALPH

Ah, Alex, you’re early.

ALEX

Yeah, do you want me to come back?

RALPH

No, no. Perfect timing actually. Roll up your sleeves. Got a lot of work for you to do.

They walk up to a DELIVERY MAN.

RALPH

G’day matey.

DELIVERY MAN

How are you going? Got a few invoices for you.

RALPH

Ah, Alex, will you take care of these please.

ALEX

Why?

RALPH

Well, it’s just I’m late for a doctors appointment and it’d be a real great help if you.

ALEX

Do you want me to sign them off?

RALPH

Yeah, and give the paperwork to Vinnie because he’s doing all the clerical stuff. OK, you have fun.

RALPH leaves.

DELIVERY MAN

Here you go mate.

THE SURF CLUB

FLYNN is talking to a boy. SHAUNA walks by.

FLYNN

Hi.

SHAUNA

Hi.

FLYNN

You got a minute?

SHAUNA

I really should be getting back to school.

FLYNN

If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were avoiding me.

SHAUNA

I’m not. I just. I’ve got the first period off so em, I don’t have to be back straight away.

FLYNN

So should we have a chat? I think we kind of need too.

SHAUNA

Yeah, I think we do to.
