Extended Summary
Melody is finding life on the streets tougher than she thought and can’t believe it when she wakes up in a church hostel to find her bag stolen! Needing a friend, Melody puts her trust in another girl staying at the hostel, Kayla but soon sees a different side to her when she finds out it was her who stole her bag. When Melody confronts Kayla, she threatens her with a broken glass bottle which opens Melody’s eyes to the ‘survival of the fittest’ attitude on the streets.
Thankfully another toughened street kid, Archie, comes to a terrified Melody’s rescue, teaching Melody a bit about life on the streets while showing her a place to sleep. As Melody settles down on this chilly night she looks out across the river and we wonder how long this vulnerable, na
